  1. Not-so-sweet home, Alabama! Best upset in years!

@S.B. Yeah they actually look pretty good, I hope that is who plays the Ducks in the Natty. I am SO tired of the same SLOW BORING sec teams playing.

Watch it, I happen to be a BIG Vols fan. I just wish they didn't suck so badly. :)

Vols. are not NEARLY as boring as Auburn,LSU,and ESPECIALLY Alabama. I personally like the faster pace games and despise the plodding of SOME of the sec teams.

  2. Turkey Shoot (arcade) Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA) Video Pinball (arcade)
  3. Brilliant gameplan, Buffalo.. your 3 best offensive weapons in Spiller, Jackson and Johnson get 6 carries, 6 carries and 3 receptions. Boneheaded!

  4. Interesting.. ESPN's scorecenter is working a hell of a lot better than Gamecast!

I've always had trouble with gamecast and FF. Thought I had it working in Chrome, but it wasn't refreshing there yesterday either

  5. Holy shizz! I never knew this trick! Thanks NS! I assumed there was no trick to it; I simply copied the moves from a video I saw where they got the diamond on i believe level 6, and it didn't work for me. Now I know! (and knowing is half the battle!)
  6. I don't think I ever played Toki in the arcades but I have seen it. The first place I remember seeing it was Tigard Cinemas (still around). I also remember Hard Drivin' being there. Which also leads to... HARD DRIVIN' (1989 Atari Games) Fun 3d polygonal driving game with memorable loop-de-loop obstacles. You got to see an instant replay of all your crashes!
  7. I thought Super Zaxxon was brutal! I remember an old cereal called "Halfsies" (kinda like Cap'n Crunch, but better IMHO) that had a contest you could enter, to try to win either a PENGO or SUPER ZAXXON cabinet.
  8. Memories are fuzzy on where I first saw Space Zap.. I think it may have been an old arcade in Valley Plaza (Beaverton OR) that was gone by the mid-80s. I also saw Super Zaxxon, Mr. Do and I believe Space Panic for the first time there. And I might as well throw those out there too: SUPER ZAXXON (1982, SEGA) WAY too damn hard game (super-fast gameplay) where you play the same 3/4 perspective as in the original, flying through fortresses and destroying enemy ships and fuel stations, and the boss is now a dragon. Just brutal; no wonder it didn't last long in the arcades. SPACE PANIC (1980, Universal) One of those game I was NEVER good at. This is harder than Venture and Targ put together!
  9. Here's mine; got almost 200 videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/crazyclimber80
  10. Borderline I believe was for SG-1000, but yeah they're both pretty rare. Here's another: SPACE ZAP (1980, Midway) Reflex game, much like the later Cosmic Ark (Imagic, Atari 2600) and Space Fortress (Bally Astrocade), where you protect your space fort by moving and firing 4 laser turrets. Enemy ships, mines and satellites attack faster and faster as gameplay continues.
  11. The whole game was taken from Hayao Miyazaki's "Castle of Cagliostro", which was a movie featuring Lupin and his friends. The scene with the hanging was actually the butler to Count Cagliostro (who himself was killed when the clock arms crushed him) IIRC.
  12. Gotta finish my costume for tonight's party. Hard to tear myself away from some good college football though.

  13. Geez, finally got the stupid "escape-from-under-the-floor" trick to work on Castlevania SOTN. Pain in the butt but I can get all those areas I'd get stuck in before.

  14. Kid Niki Kid Icarus The first Fatal Fury game Crazy Climber I like the comics idea! I'd do it too but I don't really do color.
  15. 2 from 1981: SPACE ODYSSEY Sucky Scramble-like multi-leveled space shooter by Gremlin/SEGA. I think I first saw this at a Chuck E. Cheese, after I had read about it in my HOW TO MASTER THE VIDEO GAMES book by Tom Hirschfeld. Also: BORDERLINE (Gremlin/SEGA) Actually fairly good military jeep warfare game. Steer through enemy territory, blasting enemies, forts and nuclear generators (I guess), in multiple missions per round. Very rare game. I only saw this once, at an arcade on the Oregon coast in Seaside. This was several years after the game was released. I didn't play it (weird, obscure games actually kind of scared me away). The game always makes me think of the Madonna song, and vice versa.
  16. All the ones from Limbo are on page one. Anyhoo: Some okay deaths (getting munched by dinos is admittedly cool):
  17. Tired of Buffalo sucking. New coach, new QB, better defense, please.

  18. There was a similar thread somewhere where I posted my ideas, but I'll throw them on here too. SNAFU 2 for the Intellivision. Wind your snake around letters that give power-ups when encircled. F for Firepower (shoot bits off your enemies), B for Bombs (set bombs that detonate, leaving a small blast radius), S for Speed, etc. Another cool idea would be a Final Fight-type of game but with Hollywood horror heavies at the end of each level (Freddy, Jason, Ghostface, etc.).
  19. If you want to throw the overlays into the mix, I really liked Video Pinball's overlay and am trying to make a video of it for Youtube. But the overlay somehow screws up the video so I'm trying to find decent software that'll allow it to display throughout the video, in full screen. Not really liking my chances.
  20. Woo hoo! 300% on Castlevania SOTN! Gonna celebrate with a nice, long, relaxing dip in the hot tub.

Yeah, enjoy it tonight. Tomorrow night is supposed to be raining hard.

Yup, crappy Portland weather is back. Oh well, guess I'll have to stay indoors and watch football. :)

What a coincidence. I also fill my hot tub with chip dip.

  21. Whee! Finally got heat to my hot tub. Now comes the "fun" task of rescrubbing, cleaning out the jets, filling it, scooping out the crud, chlorinating/destaining/descaling etc...

  22. Once again ESPN's GameCast is all sorts of f***ed up. They credited WSU with an extra FG.

  23. One more and I'll wait a while before posting another: HUNCHBACK (1983 Century Electronics) Okay Pitfall-like game where you traverse dangers on a fixed screen to advance to the next screen. Getting through 5 screens without dying nets you a big bonus. At the end of the game (I can't remember how many screens there are) you save Esmerelda. I only saw this once, in a small arcade in Beaverton's Valley Plaza. The arcade closed in the mid-80s. Century Electronics (a British company) didn't make many good games; this, Dazzler and Video 8 Ball were about it. Their cabinets in which you could switch out PCBs were known as CVS (Century Video System), as shown on the marquees to their games.
