  1. I've always hated it. I did used to play it for awhile, but eventually the horrible jump mechanics would make me walk away. I can tolerate bad graphics if the play mechanics are decent enough, and they were not.
  2. The single frame of animation of Pac-Man's death just before he disappears always made me think of a butter dish.
  3. Virus eradicated my desktop icons, browser and search function today. SH*T!!!

Do an online scan. Then download the virus remover for that virus.

I'll try the online scan; I have Kaspersky anti-virus but it didn't detect it, even after a full scan.

Malewarebytes FREE is great at detecting and removing nasties, you could be clean and back in business after a couple scans and reboots, I recommend to everyone! :

  4. 20,480. Never played with the holes, don't seem to help me all that much, guess I don't really know how to make them work for me.
  5. Just trying to be moderator-friendly. If the mod(s) want to slacken the reins and allow anything, that's fine by me. If they want multiple asterisks to cover most of the letters in a profane word, that's fine by me too. We'd get the word either way. Even if they don't care about profanity (and I haven't seen any edits that I noticed on posts with profanity that I remember) I'll try to stay on the side of caution. Again, whatever they decide I'm cool with.
  6. I used to have my main character in Chronicles of the Sword on Soul Calibur III named BIKER DUDE. I made him bald, with a long beard, with tinted glasses and leather pants and boots, and a sleeveless jacket unbuttoned, with no shirt on. It was kind of funny to see Luna cry out, "Why? Why can't I beat BIKER DUDE!!!"
  7. I haven't played all the other CV games because I didn't have those consoles (Super NES, N64, etc.) so I didn't know what to compare it to other than the original CV games. But I always loved SOTN and liked exploring the levels, finding all the items the enemies drop, getting all the weapons, and especially exploring the glitched areas outside the castle to up my percentage. I really enjoy getting ridiculous mileage out of games, and SOTN really delivered for me. The only real downers with this game for me was some of the voice acting (Alucard sounds like Bill Walton!) and you can easily get stuck when exploring outside.. plus, when you play as Richter, some areas you simply can't pass (or are bat-sh*t hard!). Still, I really enjoy this game. Up there with FF7, Resident Evil, Wild Arms, etc., IMO.
  8. Sucks.. my PS2 and tv both went t*ts up at the same time last night. Gonna get new ones today hopefully.

Sounds like you need a surge protector.

  9. I definitely second Super Hang On. I was never crazy about racing games but that one just stuck with me. Not only do you buy new parts, but new mechanics, new oil, etc. Way cool! And you can change the language to Japanese katakana, if you're studying it (like I am/was).
  10. Since NHL 96 (Genesis) allowed for more letters than most games, I got "creative" and did V*ginal Secretions as one player's name. Yeast Infection was another. It was awesome to beat a team with these created characters, and then see during the final horn, PLAYERS OF THE GAME: V*GINAL SECRETIONS, YEAST INFECTION show up on the screen. Good times! I had some good names for Wild Arms (PS) too.. P*nisboy and YouB*tch. One cool scene was where someone is trying to wake the latter character up while they were sleeping. They kept going, "Youb*tch.. Youb*tch!". You could also name your spells, so of course mine were called, like, RIM JOB or BLOW ME.
  11. Hey guys and gals! What funny names did/do you 'type' in for yourself on arcade/cpu/console games? Please, in the interest of the moderators, put at least a single * or other such symbol in place of a flat-out obscenity ('cause I know there will be some in the names.. hey, I understand; I do it too! It's just funny!). I used to put "P*ssyfart" as my name for Cloud in Final Fantasy VII. I thought that was pretty cool when I saw the baby birds in a nest with the materia and opted to leave the materia alone. Aeris looked at me, obviously touched, and cooed, "P*ssyfart.." Hilarious!
  12. Hope to get off a couple hours early today..

  14. I fell in love with the cool controller and dial, and the good controls they gave you of your character. And the music...! Awesome! I was never particularly good at it, but I still enjoy it to this day.
  15. Interesting that this game was originally created by Alpha Denshi (World Heroes franchise, some other Neo Geo games, etc.)! Will work on a score possibly later tonight.
  16. Almost off work 1 hour early! Yay!

  17. Another one: TARG (1980, Exidy) Simplistic but effective and challenging game with the player racing through a 9 by 9 grid shooting the Targ ramships and the Spectar Smuggler (Huh? What the hell is it smuggling? Heroin? Illegal arms? WTF?!), and as the number of enemies gets lower and lower, they get faster and smarter till you're in deep, deep sh*t. Great game, but one I was never particularly good at. The sequel Spectar was MUCH easier! I think I first saw it at Malibu Gran Prix. Those ramships moved so fast toward the end of a level they scared me! I think I first saw SPECTAR at Engine House Pizza in the Washington Square parking lot (now either the bus transit station or a Macy's parking garage).
  18. Big old Xmas potluck at work.. bringing chicken enchiladas.

  19. NIGHTMARES (1983). Bad movie. Horror flick with like 3 or 4 stories, ala Creepshow style. The game he played was like Tron or something. I think Pleiades also showed up in WarGames of the same year.
  20. Another one: PLEIADES (or PLEIADS), 1981 Tehkan/Centuri Very similar to Phoenix (and not as good IMO), you had to mow down 3 different stages of aliens before piloting your ship on a runway to the end of it without crashing, then it all starts over again. I first saw this at an old Five and Dime store that was in Progress Plaza in Beaverton, OR just off Scholls Ferry Rd. and Hall Blvd., right at the Tigard/Beaverton border. The place always smelled of mothballs.. yuck!
  21. Yeah! Scrubbed out the hot tub last night, it's 100% clean. Was cold as hell outside, though.. excess water splash froze on the tub within an hour!

  22. I don't want to work. I don't even want to bang the drum all day!

  23. Wow.. I was never really good at this game.. not good enough even to get to 100,000. I'd wander everywhere aimlessly trying to find all the stupid kids and Mola Ram and the bat would keep hounding me until I gave in to frustration and let them kill me.
  24. There's another one to chew over, while others can also think about ROTJ and other old ones.. INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1985, Atari Games) Good platformer with you as Indy whipping Thuggee guards, riding the minecarts and rescuing children. I like this a lot better than the fairly stupid movie, which was still way better than Crystal Skull (ouch). I first saw this at Malibu Gran Prix in Beaverton OR when I was 14 or so.
  25. Congrats LSU, you are the best.
