  1. Here's a trick to make the arcade Mandara stage a breeze: Get real close to the statues, almost touching them. Use your magic (a bunch of Shinobis flying around the screen) so this puts you inside the rotating statues (they will continue to advance with the magic going on). This bumps you back to the right and in front of the thing with the red sensor on its head. Quickly shoot enough stars in the sensor and you'll beat him without dealing with any of the rotating statues! I don't know if this works on the SMS version.
  2. The popcorn you are eating has been pissed in.  Film at 11.

^ Yes, it was KFM.  Classic, silly movie.

  3. Next game: DRAG RACE (1977, Kee Games/Atari) I have no idea how to play this! It is similar to DRAGSTER for the Atari 2600. Shift gears carefully so you don't blow your engine and reach the finish line before your opponent. If ANYONE can elaborate on the game and how to beat it, please do-- I've wanted to make a video on how to play this game for a long time. I saw this at numerous arcades but mostly Malibu Gran Prix.
  4. Man, Hoyt Curtain sure made some great music for Hanna Barbera cartoons.  Especially Super Friends and Wacky Races!

Actually thinking back to it,  the music to Super Friends was Amazing!

Yeah, he was very underrated and seemed to have disappeared when 1980 came.

  5. Ah yes, STUNT CYCLE (1977 Atari): Kind of unique game inspired by Evel Kneivel driving through a series of pipes and then over a line of vehicles for points. A cool set of handlebars was the controller. This was at my local Malibu Gran Prix back in the day when I was REALLY little, and before Pac-Man and Asteroids cabinets appeared. I would play some pinball, Gypsy Juggler, Depthcharge and Gun Fight, my dad would play Foosball, and my stepmom would play this game. It looked a little too complex for me.
  6. Next one: SUPER BAGMAN (1984) Valadon/Stern I only saw this once, at an Aladdin's Castle. Loved the music in this one but boy, just like the original BAGMAN, this was tough as nails. So much to draw you in though. And this time, you can actually ride down an elevator WITH the wheelbarrow (only the one on the last screen, though). You also got to free your imprisoned buddy after all the gold was collected and deposited, so you had to go find the key. It's like playing the same level a new way. And you got to use bombs and guns! And you could jump over gaps! Very fun but rather obscure game.
  7. Hey folks, This is the old SNK title MAD CRASHER. It is a 3/4 perspective shooting/racing game with no finish line or real objective to speak of, just stay alive by avoiding or shooting enemy vehicles in a futuristic setting. Collision with an enemy, going off the track, falling through a hole or failing to make a jump (numerous ramps are in the game) will result in the destruction of your vehicle. Chances at brief invincibility (you can still fall to your death) present themselves on occasion. The music is repetitive and will test your patience. The action is actually fairly intense due to the tight quarters and moving enemies. Extra points are given after a jump and the amount of checkpoints you passed in the game are added after you lose your last life-- this may be enough of a bonus to grant you one more life! I never saw this one; for an early SNK title it's not too terrible.
  8. Was anyone else puzzled by the Rocky & Bullwinkle bumper where they fall off a cliff (created by lightning), turn into ghosts (?!) and then grow out of the ground??  WTF!

  9. I liked the controller quite a bit to this. Had it at my mom's house for me to play when I visited her on weekends in Vancouver, WA.
  10. I'm not sure I saw STAR FIRE right when it came out but a few years later. It may have been one of my first few trips to the nickel arcade WUNDERLAND in Portland OR probably around 1982 or 1983. I think it was either a cockpit or cabaret. I like when you shoot the Exidy mothership; it says "GOT US"! CRASH was the first Exidy game I remember seeing. I think I covered that one on this thread already.

  12. I sometimes get an odd kick out of putting on invincibility cheats in MAME and leaving an old game's demo on.  The computer controlled character doesn't know what to do when it's supposed to die!

Well, maybe it's not amusing per se to most.. I just find it interesting.  Many games probably just have a certain time limit for the demo regardless of invincibility before it goes back to the main screen.  Mario's actions in Donkey Kong always interested me.  You can almost hear the computer saying "Hey-- I was supposed to die!  What the hell am I supposed to do now?".

  13. I enjoyed them both. I was unaware for decades as to why Jungle King had been changed to Jungle Hunt. I remember thinking Jungle Hunt was a totally new game, and then I started playing it and I was like, "wait a minute...". There was also a version called PIRATE PETE. The first stage took place on a pirate ship with you swinging from ropes, then the 2nd stage had sharks in the water and the final stage replaced the cannibals with enemy pirates. I never came across that one.
  14. New one: JUNGLE KING/JUNGLE HUNT, 1982 Taito I remember seeing Jungle King first either at a bowling alley or Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor around Beaverton OR. Jungle Hunt I probably first saw at a local arcade called "Pac-Pals" in the suburban district of Garden Home near Beaverton/Tigard/Portland OR. Jungle King had to be changed to Jungle Hunt (with a non-Tarzan character) by order of the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate due to the Tarzan signature yell.
