  2. Still love the first one for all its interesting secret money bags/prizes/food/1ups. Here's a video showing them all:
  3. Still pissed at Texas and their colossal meltdowns.

i am a huge cardinals hater, but that game was awesome. texas fans should look back to 1975... the image of carlton fisk waving the ball fair is indelible, but the cincinnati reds won game 7.

What, did someone forget to moisten the sponge?

  4. I haven't been able to pull that one off in like forever. The minus world one I'm better at; it's just knowing where to stand and when to start pulling Mario to the right in mid-jump (and of course, which blocks to break). Don't give up, it sometimes takes a few tries.
  5. There's a Game Genie code for Kid Niki: Radical Ninja on the NES that is supposed to make your ninja jump higher. Never been able to pull it off on any NES I ever played.
  6. Hey AAers! What tricks/codes/cheats/whatever do you find in magazines/online/word of mouth that NEVER seem to work for you, and you KNOW you are putting them in right? I always wait for the NEAREST block to pop out twice in a row on NES Double Dragon, and then start walking. It's supposed to prevent any more blocks from hitting me (so says Nintendo Power and a bunch of other sources). It NEVER works. I keep getting nailed and lose a lot of, if not all, my energy.
  7. I've never liked the older (pre-PS3) wireless controllers; they never seemed to work for me.
  8. Eating good leftover pizza.

Ahh, pizza. What kind? I love leftover Round Table pizza. Leftover pizza can be better than cake or beer (most of the time).

Papa Murphy's "Cowboy" pizza (veggies, meats). Pizza is one of the few foods I don't terribly mind reheating in the micro.

  9. Derron Thomas should be benched in favor of Bryan Bennett.

I don't know, he has done a pretty good job for the last year and a half. Bennett is pretty damn good though. Nice to see what he could do.

  10. Grobda tanks from Xevious starred in Namco's GROBDA. The Galaxian flagship symbol was in numerous Namco games, as was the Rally-X flag. Pac-Man and the ghosts appeared in Kick (Man). And above the gates in the courtyard stage in Mortal Kombat stage IIRC. The sword and shield owned by Gil from Tower Of Druaga appeared in Soul Blade (Edge). Sophitia used them.
  11. Hmm.. that reminds me.. Where did you first see SPIDERS (Sigma, 1981)? My first and only experience coming across it was at "Progress Pizza", in the suburb of Progress at the Tigard/Beaverton border in Oregon, back in 1982 or so. Our school basketball team had a party there. We played Spiders, Pleiades, and Pirahna and probably some other games I don't recall. Not the greatest pizza but terrific potato wedges. That place has been gone for probably 20+ years. this one doesn't ring a bell at all. I just threw it up in mame and even then it triggers nothing. Was that pizza place in progress plaza? It was across from Progress Plaza, on Scholls right next to the old fire station. Like I said, great potato wedges. Good memories..
  12. Sucky day.. too many patients at work leaving late.

  13. If you haven't checked it out, you should try Heart of the Alien. It was a great follow-up. But I agree whole-heartedly that I'd like to see a new one, so long as it has the same cinematic approach. I'll add Beyond Good & Evil to the list too, though there's a glimmer of hope they'll still produce a sequel for it. I used to have Heart of the Alien, and even though Eric Chahi didn't like it I thought it was very much in keeping with the mood of the first, with more violence (yay!).
  14. The electrician lied.. they have to come back one more day. Dammit!

As long as he is not charging you more...

  15. Hey, PM me when you get into town. Also, there is now a classic arcade downtown called Ground Kontrol, if you haven't heard of it. Kind of cool place. I actually like the new Beaverton Mall (again, now known as Cedar Hills Crossing). Good restaurants and I love the Game Trader store there. I remember just before the old Pay Less they used to have a mini arcade. BTW, the Family drive in is now the Tigard Cinemas. Fun to chat with you on old Portland-area memories.
  16. Another World/Out Of This World. And put it in 3d and add lots of gooey, bloody deaths.
  17. Woo hoo! On that note, I'm gonna sell my Manute Bol rookie card for a thousand bucks.
  18. Waiting for the electrician. Hope they don't take too long so I can enjoy the rest of the day I took off from work.

  19. Damn, I've got to find more information on defunct Portland Metro area landmarks. The Canyon Drive-In, Family Drive-In, various arcades, Hydrotubes, Washington Square stores, Beaverton Mall stores (and the airport, which was way before my time), places like Mr. Steak, Wuv's Burgers, etc. Pictures too would be nice.
  20. Hey HFB. Don't recall going to the one on Murray and Allen (I now live about a half mile from there) but I sure remember going to Electric Palace (Electric Castle is Wunderland). My sister worked the sticker kiosk in the mall. It's now called "Cedar Crossing" and the fountains are gone. And I have fond memories of the roller rink (and zapping myself on the machines after getting static electricity from rolling around on the floor) too. Also, there was a small arcade in Valley Plaza on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, if you remember that.
  21. The best shirt would have the dealer from Las Vegas Blackjack & Poker that gets pissed when you win and elated when you lose.
  22. Colec-off Actually, youki probably has a good one with Colecompetition.
