  1. I used to dream I could play them on a theater screen. I think I might have dreamed I could play them on the sky once. Got that from seeing it in a 2600 commercial!
  2. Is Trogdor unlockable? WIZARD OF WOR: Become the DJ at Newstalk radio 710 WOR. Talk about subjects your listeners want to discuss, but try not to get overly left or right-wing in your politics or risk losing them.
  3. I used to play lots of Gypsy Juggler and Video Pinball right around the time Herb Alpert's "Rise" came out. Also, I would hear a lot of George Benson's "Give Me The Night" when I was 'crazy' about Crazy Climber. Journey, Loverboy and Foreigner were really hot at the time the arcades had all the classics: Frogger, Ms. Pac-Man, DK, Galaga, Mouse Trap, Venture, Scramble, and many others from 1980-early 1982. He he he.. Bette Davis Eyes makes me think of EYES by Rock-Ola.
  4. Finally done with being sick and in bed all day. Whew!

  5. Double Dragon: As 2 dragon brothers, clean up the streets by stomping, burning and eating scores of punks, lowlifes, and scum.
  6. Buffalo leads the AFC East! Go Bills!

  7. Domino Man (1982, Bally/MIDWAY): Van Morrison, singer of the hit song "Domino", gets his own video game! Make him sing all his hit songs, but especially "Domino". Satan's Hollow (1981, Bally/MIDWAY): Satan has a big hole in his body! Help the poor guy fill it back in! Wiping (1983, Nichibutsu): The act of.. um.. cleaning your backside is faithfully replicated in a new video game. Collect toilet paper rolls and dig in! Yuck..
  8. Ducks D sucked today..

  9. A Space Invaders one would be cool too.. as would Pitfall! Damn, now I gotta get one!
  10. Hey AAers. What songs make you think of a certain game you played? Or it could be vice versa if you like. It doesn't have to be long, long ago (but I would imagine a lot of those kind of nostalgic memories would pop up here). Me: Borderline- Madonna Makes me think of the Sega/Gremlin arcade game "Borderline". The game came out a few years before the song but I hadn't seen the game before the song. Not too many years after hearing the song, I found the arcade game at a beach fun center. So now I think of that game when I hear it. Not a bad game, and I rather like the song to this day. Also: Though this isn't an arcade game (in the wrong thread category, so sue me), I remember listening to a tape of The Power Station (their only album) on the way back from Kay-Bee Toys, where I picked up INFILTRATE for the Atari 2600. I was singing along to the song "Murderess" and now that song and the game are inextricably linked in my memory.
  11. Gain Ground (Sega, 1988): The excitement of purchasing sod at a garden store is faithfully captured in a video game. It's a race against time to pick it up, bring it home and plant it.
  12. Way back in '85 or so when I picked up INFILTRATE for Atari 2600. Not expecting much but thought it could be fun.. and I loved it! I used to call the enemies "The Fry Guys" and when they raced after me shooting like crazy I just burst into laughter. What fun!
  13. Super Mario 2 was the best in the series IMO. Yeah I know it's Doki Doki Panic with Mario characters, but so what? The game is long, involving and fun! I liked Zelda II a lot as well. Getting through the last level is still quite a challenge. I felt Castlevania II: Simon's Quest was a disappointment. You could easily get lost (and bored) if you didn't buy game maps/visit GameFAQs.com. And all the people in town giving you false hints was really stupid. I felt Dig Dug II was a bit of a letdown. Donkey Kong 3 I thought was pretty bland. Stanley the gardener is among the lamer video game heroes IMO.
  14. Take an existing video game title and change the description to something else. Example: Yam! Yam!? (1990, Dooyong) A husband comes home to dinner and is angry that only a single yam is his dinner. As his wife you must cook something different and make him happy. Or: Looping (1982, Venture Line) The fascinating process of tying your shoes has been turned into an exciting video game! Create large loops and pull the laces tight, or suffer defeat as the laces come apart and fall limp aside your shoes. Eh, maybe those weren't great examples. But you can probably do better.
  15. I often had to play my Atari muted, because I was only allowed 2 hours a day due to my middling grades, and I snuck some more time ini. It didn't affect my gameplay.
  16. F-1 from 1976? I think it was played in "Dawn Of The Dead" (1978).
  17. God, it feels good to call in sick once in a great while..

    Snafu

I thought up a good idea for a Snafu sequel.. I am not a programmer by any means but this one sounds interesting for someone else to try. There should be letters to encircle with your snake that stand for special power-ups; like "S" for shoot (gives you firepower to blast the opponent snake walls), "E" for extended snake, "I" for limited Invincibility, etc. Maybe add some other things to the game play.
  19. When my dad bowled league Monday nights back in 1980 to about 1987 at Kellogg bowl in Milwaukie, Oregon, we'd often have pizza next door at Pietro's. Good thin crust pizza, and a mini-arcade. Between the bowling alley and the Pietro's arcade I saw some strange and obscure games. Mayday, Rescue, and some really awful direct ripoffs of popular games like Asteroids (called "Meteor") and Star Castle (called "Fort Cosmos"). Astro Fantasia and Speed Freak are also rather rare.
  20. Pitfall II. But with one rule: get hit 3 times and you either switch your game over to another player or reset and let another player have a shot at it. That way people won't get too bored watching, unless someone is really good at it.
  21. My list: Demon Attack Cosmic Ark Pitfall II Mario Bros. River Raid Keystone Kapers H.E.R.O. Dragonfire Asteroids Space Invaders Megamania Dodge 'Em Berzerk Phoenix Video Pinball Kaboom Adventure Missile Command Infiltrate
  22. I'd never heard of the game up till now.. I thought maybe this was Engrish at work.
