  1. Snafu. I would love to see a homebrew sequel someday, with power-ups (long/short snake, snake that can shoot, snake that can go through walls) achieved by encircling certain letters like F for fire, S for shorter snake, W for going through walls, etc. Also, maybe warp holes would transport you elsewhere on the screen. Just some ideas to throw around.
  2. Looks like the Indian princess got revenge on Custer.. with a strap-on!
  3. 44,115. God, those warriors (tanks) piss me off!
  4. Are you sure it was an Atari and not an arcade machine? Emilio Estevez gets sucked into an evil arcade machine where he's a Tron-like character in the movie "Nightmares" (1983).
  5. Exactly. Keep this is mind, and it's hardly the worst game for the system. Not even close.
  6. Hey Eric! Yup, you're pretty close to Portland. I may be moving to Tigard or Beaverton soon depending on whether my offers on new houses get approved or not. Looking forward to having enough space to make an actual gameroom!

We might have to meet sometime for a Blazer game. Good to chat with you man.

    Venture

The Intellivision version was leaps and bounds ahead of the Atari version. A bit too easy, though. The Atari version was creepy.. no music, just a low hum (like a bee in your ear) and only 2 levels out of 4 were available. Not very good.
  8. Entombed is creepy and depressing.. just maze after maze of digging, with despairing music playing in the background. Before too long the game is too fast and you get crushed at the top of the screen. What an awful fate! Venture is another. Unlike the arcade, there's no bouncy music playing while you're in mazes or fighting in the dungeons. Just this eerie tone. And when the hall monster enters the dungeon, it sounds like the world will end or something. BOOOOOM!!!! Infiltrate is a tiny bit depressing to me in the sense that the monsters just keep getting faster and faster on the draw until their shots just hum as they continuously fire, waiting against an elevator for you to come down and get obliterated. No chance!
  9. Yeah good choice you do realise that Williams didn't create Make Trax it was a Third Party development like Moon Patrol.Apparently a Korean company Kural Samno created it.Williams just had the license for it. And it was originally called "Crush Roller". I guess it was licensed to Exidy as well, who kept the name "Crush Roller", while Williams called it "Make Trax". Of all these versions, I only saw Make Trax, and at a lot of different arcades.
  10. I bought a great MVS cab for $800 with 5 games. Sometimes the sound conks out just for a little while when I fire it up but it comes back (one of the games currently in there, Fatal Fury Special, has a LOUD attract mode, so if I turn up the volume and switch to that game it practically blows a hole through the wall!). I have a total of 13 games now in it and I can't be happier. I get my games through Ebay, and refuse to pay much more than $100 for a game even if it's really rare. Definitely worth getting an MVS cab IMO. And it's kind of cool making your own mini-marquees!
  11. And I'll throw in Space Panic as a close second. I will NEVER master killing the enemies that need to be dropped more than one story.
  12. I like Centipede better. To me Millipede had a number of new wrinkles but they weren't really all that special. Maybe a new souped-up version of Centipede could have weapon upgrades, a shop, centipedes that shoot back at you, etc.
  13. I used to love this game, but it would have been better with voice IMO. Demons screaming, the boss devils roaring and taunting you as they attacked, etc. It was still a pretty good shooter.
  14. The games from Digital Pictures (Night Trap, Sewer Shark, Double Switch, etc.) usually just have a track with no music and a second track that has a digital phone ring and a Digital Pictures employee answer, "Good afternoon, Digital Pictures." Then you hear some creepy voices that rumor has it say "Number 9.. number 9.. number 9." backwards. A reference to the Beatles song Revolution 9, in which I believe Paul McCartney is saying "Number 9.. number 9.. number 9..", but not backwards. A TON of tracks from Lunar are playable.. every bit of music from the game, I believe, and every spoken line, including the hilarious bit with the girl trying to sing like Luna, and failing miserably. Damn, now I'm curious to find out all the playable tracks on these games too!
  15. I just don't see Donkey Kong being all that hard.. I can get up to about the 3rd elevator sequence. You want hard, I will always say Gravitar's difficulty level is crazy high.
  16. That's messed up.. Tom and Jerry is from Mappy???
  17. Weird.. that doesn't happen to me. Which version of MAME are you using? Mine is MAMEUI32 volume 129. Again, it has little tiny pauses every couple seconds or so but otherwise it'll play okay. Then when I finish I have to squash the size with Format Factory by converting it to an .avi. The original size is usually at least a couple gigabytes! If you have a laptop then the method rmaerz came up with would probably work. Myself, I gave up on laptops a LONG time ago.
  18. Yeah, I run it through MAME and I have to play through occasional pausing. The best method I can use is to play through an uncompressed .avi file. Making how-to videos for my YouTube channel is really tough, so I just make rare arcade game videos. Maybe a newer version of MAME will work better in the video capturing department. I've used Format Factory to try to change the .inp and .mng files to .avi but they won't work.
  19. I see that pattern in your avatar every time I rub my eyes really hard.

  20. The Act sounds like an incredibly cool game! I only saw Final Blow at the beach once.. that eventually became James Buster Douglas Boxing on the Sega Genesis. Got some videos of rare stuff on my YouTube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/crazyclimber80?feature=mhw4
  21. Mostly gamer.. I'll collect stuff I really like, that's not TOO expensive. I won't go out of my way to plunk down x hundred for one rare game that's not remotely worth it. Besides, right now I don't really have the space for a whole lot. When I move into a house hopefully soon I'll add a few things (maybe a couple cocktail arcade machines).
  22. I believe there are a few good FMV games for the Sega CD. Road Avenger is a blast-- even when you can beat the game all the way through, it was still great and well-animated. I liked Sewer Shark as well. Sega CD was a worthwhile system (especially the CDX!). There were definitely some stinker titles but also some great titles, especially RPGs (Shining Force, Lunar, Lunar 2, Popful Mail, Vay, etc.).
  23. I may have forgotten to include Venture. It is an excellent port. And a hell of a lot easier than the arcade, too!
  24. Something else to hate about Intellivision's Donkey Kong is the fact that your jump is so damn slow. And your movements are incredibly stiff. And yes, I also used to think DK looked like a grinning, buck-toothed pile of manure.
