  1. Maybe I'm a bad boy for being content with emulation and not collecting systems anymore (still keep the PS2 around at least though). But, just to the left of the living room when you come in the front door, are the arcade machines of DIG DUG, NEO GEO 4 SLOT and PHOENIX. They all need maintenance and I'm too busy with major house projects right now.
  2. Burgertime Centipede Elevator Action Returns all arcade
  3. Yeah, I loved the 6-button Genny controller.. I also like the Playstation non-analog sticks controller. Never got comfortable with the analog sticks.
  4. Funeral March Of A Marionette- Charles Gounod The Alfred Hitchcock theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eIk5DWUx_E&feature=kp
  5. All Over The World- Electric Light Orchestra
  6. The Genesis really delivers with action/platform games and shooters. For the best RPGs that take full effect of vibrant colors, the SNES is the way to go. That said: My favorite games for each category: SPORTS NHL EA Sports series The Later 90s Madden series, that actually has full seasons Tecmo NBA Basketball I kind of like the Sportstalk series, though the voice is perhaps a bit cheesy by today's standards FIGHTERS Streets of Rage series Cyborg Justice SHOOTERS Gaiares MUSHA Truxton Thunder Force series Insector X PLATFORM Revenge of Shinobi Gunstar Heroes Vectorman series Earthworm Jim series E SWAT Mega Turrican STRATEGY Columns Starflight RPG Phantasy Star series Sword of Vermillion ARCADE CLASSICS COLLECTION Williams Arcade Classics There's a lot of others I should remember, but a Genesis is definitely worthwhile.
  7. Unbelievably awesome! In all seriousness, I will request that my tombstone says "Pepperoni and cheese" on it.
  8. That's exactly what they're going for. But instead of 3, it should be Donkey Kong: Ass Attack!
  9. I can kind of understand why so many people hated ASTEROIDS DELUXE, as it was basically just Asteroids with a way to prevent the UFO/satellite farming system, thanks to the new hexagon enemies. That's pretty much why SPACE DUEL was created as the "true" sequel to Asteroids. Still, a lot of Deluxe units were produced and I saw it at just about every arcade in the 80s.
  10. Yeah, you can sort of predict the rolling barrels--just wait when you're near a ladder and barrel's about to roll overhead; if you climb without waiting it'll usually roll down on you, even down broken ladders. I get a bit mystified at the ones that bounce at weird angles or just suddenly drop straight down.
  11. I totally forgot there was a Pac-Man and Chomp-Chomp. So of course, there's a US version. Doop! Whatever you call it, it's awful. To a lesser degree of disappointments in the Pac-series, Jr. Pac-Man wasn't all that great. More energizers is really the only positive addition to the game; having the prizes be detrimental (converting dots into ones that slow you down, and destroying energizers) and making the mazes so huge really kinda sucks.
  12. Donkey Kong and Mouse Trap are definitely the first ones that come to mind. Hmm.. I'll give the nod to DK. The Beauty and the Beast sequel (can't remember the name) was really bad too.
  13. I thought Time Pilot 84 was okay, just very loud and you fought the same boss each level. Not really different enough from the first TP. Return Of The Invaders sucked. Astro Fighter wasn't really any great shakes but Super Astro Fighter was unbelievably awful! Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory sucked too. Dragon's Lair II wasn't really bad, just far too weird for me to be interested in (and it came out way after the laserdisc phenomena subsided). Mr. Do's Wild Ride eliminated the monsters altogether and put the famed clown in a theme park! Boo!
  14. I was never a fan of Donkey Kong 3. A gardener instead of Mario? Spraying Donkey Kong in the ass? Wow..
  15. Oh, here's another one: PAC & PAL Not released in American arcades, and for a good reason! Pac-Man flips over cards to get the fruits in this game. The "Pal" of the game is a ghost that steals fruits and takes them to the ghost pen where they will be lost forever! Some frickin' pal!
  16. I didn't find Dig Dug II to be a particularly bad sequel but it was certainly not as good as the original. Joust 2 was definitely bad. The pegasus was a really dumb idea. The damn thing weighs a ton and does pretty much nothing special. Super Zaxxon is evil. Evil I tells ya! Way too damn fast. A breakfast cereal back in the day called Halfsies (really good) had a contest where you could win either a PENGO or a SUPER ZAXXON cabinet. I bet the folks who 'won' the latter kicked themselves into a bloody stupor.
  17. Shogun Warriors Fujiyama Buster Tao Taido all arcade
  18. Midnight Confessions- Grass Roots
  19. Good calls on Return of the Jedi and Double Dragon 3. They were both bad, especially DD3. Others that took a monster dump: PROFESSOR PAC-MAN This abomination was quickly rejected by gamers due to it totally turning the series on its head with its departure of the maze theme and making a trivia game! WTF!!! Some (like me) might also throw BABY PAC-MAN in here too. The pinball/video hybrid just wasn't a good idea IMO and the play mechanics seemed off. The infamous SPY HUNTER II is also a classic misfire. Sound effect, graphics and gameplay all were tear-your-hair-out bad. Precious little thought put into this one.
  20. http://www.starcade.tv/starcade/gamesframe.asp Just keep the volume down; a video of MONSTER BASH plays immediately! But below that is a list of all the games they had.
  21. Are Friends Electric?- Gary Numan
