I also vote Pitfall II "most troublesome Activision cart." I have a few and all are problematic, with one I could never make work.

I retract my previous statement(see above). I do now recall that statement Herbarius mentions that technically there's no way the ROM could 'remember' ghost deaths from round to round. Apologies.

Funny, I didn't see that he was looking for any investors anywhere in any of his blogs. There was a lot of sound advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. Also, he had several good ideas, not just one. He created the company Atari, and with it built, marketed and sold successful arcade games. Then he essentially created the home video game market as we know it with the Atari 2600, having to sell his own company to make it happen. Chuck E. Cheese was also his baby, but I don't think they have those on your side of the pond Those places are still around--I played some Donkey Kong, Skeeball and Star Wars Trilogy in one just a few weeks ago. Good big ideas there, all of them made up of many smaller good ideas. Saying that he had only one is understating the hell out of it.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
brojamfootball replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I sought out that Fade to Black game back in the day, and was a bit let down, but is worth checking out for any classic gamer that loved Flashback. Nice deal on the PSP! I've been thinking of getting one just for emulation as I've seen quite a few cheap ones on Craig's List lately. Just one more thing: Super Pitfall is an absolutely horrible game. It was such a giant disappointment back in the day. -
I have heard that it does indeed work, but is VERY difficult to do correctly.

Craigs List NINTENDO WORLD CHAMP jacket
brojamfootball replied to FND's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
That jacket is pretty awesomely cool, but I'd feel like a big ol' ball o' fakeness wearing it. -
I don't think he's got any of the original screws. Joey, I think off the top of my head that it's about a #6 screw, either 1 inch or maybe one and a quarter. Just be patient, and I'm sure someone who knows for sure will chime in here eventually.
-
I'm guessing you mean the main screws that go in the bottom that hold the top and bottom of the unit together? I don't recall noticing anything special about them, so I think you could get them from any hardware store. Somebody who knows more about screws may chime in here and tell you what exact size they are.

Atari 2600 Paddle controller that have the "jitters"
brojamfootball replied to thevnaguy's topic in Hardware
So these are paddles so messed up that taking apart the pot and cleaning the inside didn't help? Just wondering. That is a good fix you've got there, taking them back to completely new working condition. -
Luna Video Games is pretty great. I didn't know there were any folks local to me on here!

Some kid playing Atari Pac-Man. Wow, that's riveting. Then he starts talking on an imaginary phone. Um, okay. I quit watching at that point. Sorry kid, but there's just not one single interesting or entertaining thing about this video.

Dang! Looks to be multiples of a number of rare carts there. That's pretty mind blowing.

Frogger for the Genesis was arguably pixel perfect. Lack of music hardly makes it one of the 'worst ports ever.'

$99 per year sounds pretty high to me. I love this site and would love to help support it, but doubt I'd ever really have that much to kick in. I would just end up a lowly non-member Reputation points would start the flame war to end all flame wars, combined with a negative feedback war. Email totally unnecessary.

Hmm, another Namco stick out there.

Awace, Nice attempts to use capital letters to start sentences! It is helping your posts become more understandable, but why not use them all the time instead of just sometimes? Try inserting a period between your thoughts/ideas and you'll be nearly golden. I am sure that since you go to all the trouble to write your posts, you would like people to be able to understand them. Anymore, I generally skip reading your posts as they make no sense, but gave this latest one a shot after seeing some capital letters used. For example: "Was at wall mart Buying Food" Curious use of capital letters there. I can't imagine why that was done in that way. I guess you felt that buying food was really important, kind of like the name of the world's largest business, which for some reason you did not capitalize(and misspelled). "I also rewired a single paddle plug play found Pal" --you rewired a "single paddle plug play found"? I'm not sure what that is. Thanks for calling me "Pal," but we've never even met. Your idea is lost in confusion. Using a period or a comma to separate your ideas would have saved you on this one. -
Dude, SUCH a tease without details, especially since you obviously had a camera out and at the ready! Don't keep us hangin' man! Actually, part of me doesn't want to know as I'm sure to be jealous as hell.

Anyone interested in a Galaga Marquee?
brojamfootball replied to Canadian Paul's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
You should really make a new thread for your Earthworld. I'm sure it will be seen by more folks and sold. Just a little friendly advice. Good luck. And by the way, I'd probably try to make a deal on the Galaga marquee if it was local and shipping price and breakage risk was out of the equation. Have you put it on your local Craig's List? -
What makes the 2600 such an icon in gaming?
brojamfootball replied to shadow460's topic in Atari 2600
Why not Game Gear titles? 'Cause almost nobody owned one. Especially compared to the numbers of Atari owners. That ratio must be five thousand to one. I also didn't know anyone who had an Arcadia. I can only remember one or two kids that had Colecovisions or Intellivisions, but many many many friends who had Atari. I can recall disagreements we had about which games were good , oftentimes my opinion being jaded as I thought certain translations fared poorly while kids that had never seen or played the original arcade titles thought games I disliked were great. The name Atari was synonymous with video games back then, like Kleenex or Band-Aid still is today. Nothing else was even close. I think regardless of how sales figures can now be interpreted in hindsight, and I doubt that any figures from back then are really that accurate, an EXTREMELY large of portion of people who owned video games back then had Atari. The field was not nearly so spread out as it is now between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Kinda likethe way television network viewership has changed. -

That's pretty sweet. As much as I've been trying not to diversify my collection, I'd find it hard not to buy that. -
Three words: Uh may zing!

Came across these being used at a party a few weeks ago. The cubes come out looking really great!
