  1. My 800. I thought I had posted this a couple of years ago but I must have forgotten:
  2. Here's my first 5200 that I bought at JC Pennys as soon as they they got them. Bought this one recently on marketplace
  3. I wonder the same. The schematic shows that resistor shaded with an "!" symbol, usually means its a safety part. Sometimes I have seen low ohm values used as a "fuse", so perhaps it was simple fatigue. It doesn't seem to run hot, so I really don't know. I did replace the larger working voltage caps in the high voltage section. They all tested as OK, capacitance wise so I assume the electrolyte hadn't dried out significantly. I'm gonna keep an eye on it for a while. This is my bench monitor and I don't use it for hours at a time but it's really handy to have.
  4. I was in a UPS store last week and they had a large scanner. Not sure what they charge per page though
  5. @kheller2 was kind enough to send me a picture of the schematic diagram in his SC1224 service manual (JVC version) which identified the resistor as a 1.8 ohm 2 watt. I couldn't find any shorted Flyback windings, capacitors, transistors or other problems so I replaced the resistor and gradually powered the monitor on. I was happy to see a great picture and nothing overheating. Still have to replace a few caps but otherwise this monitor is working great! Thanks for your help
  6. Hello kheller2. A year ago you were trying to scan a service manual for the JVC version of the SC1224 monitor. I need to repair mine and could really use some documentation, a schematic at least. In particular I am looking for the value of resistor R531 which might be shown as R1531 in your manual. I say that based on the scan you posted on January 12 2021 which shows the power circuit of the monitor which closely matches my monitor except for the added "1" before each reference number. I was hoping you had completed scanning the manual, but if not could you please locate that resistor in the schematic? There are certainly other problems with the monitor but I will have to replace the resistor since it has overheated and opened. Thanks for reading this!

You might have the only copy of the service manual for the JVC version in existence!

  7. I had looked at that thread, and at first look the drawing the @kheller2 had posted didn't match my monitor but looking again it might be correct after all. The component numbers are slightly different but the schematic is close. I will see if he has any other scans, thank you!
  8. I've been using this monitor for about a year with no problem which admittedly made me lazy about doing some preventive maintenance on it. I restore a lot of tube radios and always use an isolation and variable transformer to gradually apply line voltage and monitor the current drawn. I am the original owner since sometime in the ninety's so I should have at least recapped it years ago. oh well, hopefully the fly-back is OK since I expect that will be hard to find.
  9. Yup I know there must be other problems, something must have caused excessive current through this resistor. I will recap the board and look for whatever has shorted, but I will have to replace this resistor eventually so I thought I might get lucky and someone might be working on a JVC at the moment. It's a long shot, I know. I used to fix televisions back in the day, so I am aware of the hazards. Been shocked a couple of times by a CRT and have never forgotten it!
  10. Yea the only service manual I could find I believe is for the Samsung version. I guess no one ever posted a PDF of the JVC version. The resistor is clearly marked R531 on the board. Looks like a 2 watt metal film resistor.
  11. I turned on my SC1224 monitor tonight and smelled something burning. No lights, no raster just the smell. I took a look inside and couldn't find anything burned except a single resistor R531 near the high voltage transformer. Unfortunately I cant read any numbers on it and since the monitor is the JVC version, I don't have a schematic or service manual. I've done a lot of searching and only find the Samsung schematic which is completely different from the JVC. I was hoping someone might happen to be working on a JVC version of the SC1224 and could take a look at resistor R531? The one in mine is completely open. There's probably other problems, but I can't really troubleshoot further without replacing this resistor. It's located near the HV Trans former. Thanks for looking!
  12. I picked this 400 a couple of weeks ago. It had a bad PIA but otherwise very nice condition. The case code is 012
  13. Picked this one up a few years ago on Ebay. 83S DA 028452 213 motherboard: DA 183 Rev A
  14. I had the same problem this week using UFLASH to update SIDE2 on my 1200Xl with U1MB. Hangs on the Rom selection screen. SIDE2.com seems to have worked OK as I have SIDE driver v4.0 now.
