  1. It was probably that considering when I bought an Intellivision II (in 1984), there was NO pack-in game that came with mine.
  2. Gee, why can't the Atari 7800 have the same kidney-shaped controllers of the Genesis?
  3. I would rather play Journey: Escape with the heart-shaped groupies, the shifty-eyed promoters, the flashing cameras, the roadies, and Kool-Aid Man all coming down from the sky while making a mad dash to try getting to the Scarab Ship. "Wheel in the sky keeps on turning...I don't know where I'll be tomorrow...!"
  4. The Intellivision II console was the best-looking IMO. Not sure I liked the idea of having one button be both the Reset and Power switch. Also didn't like how it came with NO pack-in game (Mattel could've given us something to play with, like Astrosmash). The gamepad controllers are somewhat better, with the 12-button keypad being more membraneish than bubble-press.
  5. Wouldn't miss GTA even if every single game in the series vanished from the face of the earth! (If I see a Smurf videogame basing itself off of GTA, I'd burn it!) And also not thinking of trading in my PS2 yet. But hey, that's your business!
  6. 10. They are the new console on the block. Does something new really justify hating it? 9. Their console is too big and heavy. I can agree with that. 8. Enough with the Halo already. Haven't played Halo, so I can't comment. 7. Bill Gates is evil. Question is...how? 6. It's just a cheap PC. At least the owners of that system won't have to worry about updating it every so often just to make the new games play on it, like PC owners do. 5. Not enough "exclusive games" Personally, I'd rather see less "exclusive games" unless it's something that that system alone is technologically capable of handling. 4. No Mario games on it. I can agree with that. Same problem with the PlayStation 2. 3. Who the hell can use those big controllers. People with big hands. Fortunately, there are smaller X-Box controllers for the rest of us. 2. Too much piracy...piracy=bad Can't comment on the piracy issue. 1. Did I mention Bill Gates is evil. Repetition doesn't count!
  7. Yes, it did, though the scrolling was horizontal in the arcade version and the 2600 version had it scrolling vertically.
  8. Join us for the classic videogame horror film that keeps modern-day game companies trembling in fear... THE GAME SYSTEMS THAT WON'T STAY DEAD!!! (Voice of CEOs): "Die, system, die!!! Stop working!!! You're not supposed to keep working!!! We've replaced you years ago!!! Why won't you stay dead?!?"
  9. I was into VideoMation for the NES at the time, and hearing that the Super NES would have Mario Paint in the fall of 1992 made me want to get the Super NES. What I thought was the most appealing thing about the system, though, was its use of the Mode 7 feature in games like Pilotwings, Hyperzone, Space Football: One On One, and some sections of games like Castlevania IV and the Super Star Wars series.
  10. I can't get the lovely Lara across the fire pillars in a room on one level without getting herself burned or falling into the rat-infested water. ARRGH!
  11. Donkey Kong 64 is a little too complex for my enjoyment, though I did like how they handled swinging across on vines.
  12. I might want to try out such a game, but I'm not sure about being stuck with yet another Power Pad-type mat controller. I liked Dance Aerobics for the NES for the brief time that I had that game. I think such games might be better if they were programmed to allow using your own music CDs in a hot-swap sort of way, but that may be some time coming.
  13. Sign me up for a Gamecube; I want to get my hands on a Gameboy Player.
  14. I still like the look of the ColecoVision, even the home-made "CV Junior" that makes me wish Coleco could've come up with that.
  15. I can't get joystick functions to work on the Atari 2600 driver of MESS.
  16. Don't forget the STAR RAIDERS graphic novel, which DC Comics have printed in the early 1980s.
  17. I think it's been proven that things can be amusing without having to resort to using profanity or anything so on the adult (read lurid or obscene) level of entertainment, yet also without being so dumbed-down to the point of only being amusing to kids. And no, I am not a frequent visitor of SomethingAwful.com.
  18. Pardon the digression from the topic, but it seems more women would take issue with their overweightness being so pronounced (and more men would take issue with a woman being overweight) despite how much overweight they may seem to themselves or others -- hence the problems they have with anorexia and bulimia. A man being overweight hardly raises an eyebrow, since it seems men are more conditioned to be bigger in whatever sense society deems them to be big and women are conditioned to be slim, pretty, and attractive. But enough of that. Manuel may be entitled to his opinion about this game cartridge being nothing more than a collection of "crap games", but are those games really "crap"? Granted, they do look like commonplace gameware one would find selling in $10 PC game racks, but I don't see this as being similar to the gameware being pumped up and hyped up over the years that never really lived up to the hype, but used such to sell what was really an inferior effort. Not something I would buy, but definitely not something I would shun other people from buying.
  19. Some appropiately funny stuff here and there. The Bart Vs. The Predator thing can pretty much do without Bart swearing, though.
  20. Custer's Viagra...BLEECH! It isn't enough that the game that inspired this is bad enough, now we have to make Viagra into "the breakfast of champions", as if people haven't already done that, and put advertising such into a videogame. No thanks! Rated AO for Adults Only. After watching the videogame segment on last night's 700 Club, I would rather see a Left Behind game on any system.
  21. Battle Of The Planets was pretty cool. I also liked the Force Five cartoon series that used to play on Channel 25 out of Boston back in the early 1980s with five different shows running each day -- Danguard Ace, Starvengers, Space Keteers, Grandizer, and Gaiking. If you like watching various types of big robots kicking big enemy/alien robot butt (with the exception of Space Keteers, which is probably the weakest of the five shows), Force Five really delivered the goods. Starvengers to me is probably the best with the three ships that can transform into three different robots depending on how they are docked with each other.
  22. I've been using Quick-Play as my front-end for Windows Z26.
  23. Not sure I would call that a game, since the whole thing was so incomprehensible -- more like what Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation played against some alien strategist that he lost out to in playing but then developed the strategy of keeping his opponent in an eternal stalemate. But boy, that really took the idea of "force feedback" to a discomforting level that I'm not sure I would want in a game controller, no matter how silly the game using it might look!
  24. I personally would prefer games that can be enjoyed by any age group, rather than see games targeted for only one age group at the risk of alienating other age groups. I would rather see less of the "questionable morals" kind of games in the area of Grand Theft Auto.
