  1. Easily the two best games there are TimeSplitters 2 and 3. Excellent find there. If you like good FPS games, you'll LOVE TimeSplitters.
  2. I think the PC-Engine Duo R is worth more than AES. You'd probably have to add some cash in order to make it a fair trade. To be honest with you A7800Fan, if I wasn't already pouring money into the MVS platform, I would probably have bought yours, as long as you didn't want an arm and a leg for it like everybody on eBay does. EDIT: I'd have offered $150 or so. Maybe less given the power supply is finicky.
  3. Personally, that's what makes them especially creepy, is the old blocky graphics. It adds to the surreal horror along with the usual music accompaniment.
  4. I know this probably never crossed your mind, but you should really get an authentic and original SNES system. Model 1 SNES SNES Jr.
  5. The countryside in B.C. is amazing. Been so long since I've been around there though... Personally, I'd skip the TG-16 if I were you OSRG, unless you know exactly which games you want and know you'll love them. You cannot dig for buried treasure on the TG-16 like you can with the NES.
  6. There's a side of the picture nobody has addressed yet; TG-16 controllers are really uncommon. That is an excellent reason to convert a more common controller to the 8-pin DIN format.
  7. The GBC is indeed, a great machine, but I can't help but feel the screen should have been bigger. Compared to the Pocket, there's a lot of wasted space on that screen bezel. To summarize my thoughts, now that I have almost all of the Game Boy models at once instead of one at a time over 10 years ago, I'll just put them in a list: Best to least best: GBA SP2 (AGS-101) Game Boy Color Game Boy Pocket Game Boy (and the PlayItLoud variants) Game Boy Advance The original GBA really is the worst though. For some bizarre reason, the screen is not reflective at all and is extremely hard to see. Not even the original Game Boy has such problems. Somebody could make a killing by selling new Game Boy front light mods. I know Project GB sells some, but only for the original Game Boy (kind of a wasted effort) and the Game Boy Pocket (not officially though). We need some for the Color and Advance as well!

    Stan

Bought a GameCube system lot from Stan, transaction went very well. Box was packaged great, everything worked, nothing was broken, great communication. Couldn't have asked for a better buying experience. A+++ Seller!
  9. I really hope it isn't a touch screen, otherwise it'll probably be abused with buttons and crap. Now if it's just a regular LCD screen, I highly approve of it! It could definitely prove useful.
  10. If my Yellow Pocket had a front light mod and some AA batteries, it would definitely be the best Game Boy model I own, but for factory it definitely hurts. The original GB may have a bad screen, but at least you can play it for dozens of hours. The AGS-101 "GBA SP2" is obviously the best Game Boy, but weren't we considering only classic Game Boy models? Ones that didn't have color? Man, the smell of early summer up here is making me wanna play some Game Boy games... Just like old times.
  11. The GB Pocket has absolutely horrible battery life, about 2 - 4 hours under optimum conditions. Unless you're gonna get an AC adapter for it or mod it for AA batteries, disregard the GB Pocket.
  12. Power supplies can gradually over time lose their potency. It's always good to keep spares on hand. Good to hear you found a solution though!
  13. Yes, the patch cable is suppose to have only 8 out of 9 pins. The 9th pin in question is +5v. If that is connected, the Genesis can't turn off from the power switch. You should write up what is wrong with your 32X, perhaps we can troubleshoot it for you. Though I bet it's just a dirty connection, the 32X doesn't like contamination.
  14. I thought Jaguar CD games were encrypted. As for the topic at hand, it's kind of one-sided. There is no such thing as a popular system with little to no piracy. Therefore, basically any system that didn't sell well, had limited market exposure or wasn't commercially viable for very long qualifies for the list. The list then, would be pretty darn long. It would certainly be easier to make a list of consoles WITH piracy, than ones without. Also, 4ever2600, encryption means nothing to pirates. The only example of this you need is in the Neo-Geo MVS (arcade system). Even though late era games had encryption, the system still had severely rampant piracy. From what I've read, it's one of the reasons SNK went belly up.
  15. He still sounded like some smug ass kid who bad mouths the Game Boy because of the bad screen and other crap like that. That is exactly what his initial post implied. Read it again: Or at least, that's what it APPEARS to read as...
  16. I still like the DS Phat better and it's been discontinued for years! The screens may be awful, but the rest of the system is fantastic! The D-Pad, buttons, full length GBA slot, console shape etc are all WAY better than the Lite. It's kind of like Game Boy Vs. GB Pocket. The Pocket's buttons are some of the best I've ever used and the screen rocks, but the battery life is by far the worst of any of Nintendo's portables, even with large capacity rechargeable AAA batteries! I get usually 2 - 4 hours with it. The Brick Boy on the other hand, gets well over 12 hours. I've had the same set of batteries in my GB for several months now and haven't run out of power. Hell, I even borrowed the batteries to use in my digital camera, which quickly choked on them due to low power. The Game Boy however, is STILL using them just fine with no hint of low power as of yet. The Game Boy may have a bad screen (which I still like), it is an absolute beast when it comes to battery life. Something sorely missed on newer handhelds. Hmm, this probably wasn't the best place to post these impressions, but they are kind of on topic.
  17. I'm calling it: DNF's official release date is Christmas 2011! They just haven't delayed it that far yet... But they will, the curse of Duke never dies, even if Gearbox is on the job.
  18. Hah hah, very funny Mr. new user with only 16 posts... The Game Boy is a great handheld, I still use a pea soup GB to this day, perfectly playable.
  19. If you can find a pirate copy that is. SMB2j was only officially released on Famicom Disk System. You could always go the simpler route and buy a repro cart of SMB2j. One would probably cost the same as fami-adapter + SMB2j bootleg.
  20. The lack of Sega-16 is killing me here...
  21. I have never used a soldering iron before. Well I'm pretty sure Gravey isn't too shabby with an iron. That is of course if he isn't too much of a chicken to repair a "rare" console. :P Seriously though, I've heard of all sorts of ridiculous failures of AES systems. It makes me wonder how expensive it actually was to make one, if SNK had to resort to such low quality components. Quite the high end game system huh?
  22. Reading this sort of comment makes me laugh. Sega-16 is one of the friendliest communities on the net and their appreciation for Sega's hardware and games is amazing. Without Sega-16, I would still be using a Model 2 Genesis with really bad video and sound, though I would have gotten a Sega CD and 32X anyway, because I loved the Genesis too much.
  23. If it's not a bad power supply, maybe the power jack's solder joint is broken. Just open 'er up, grab a soldering iron and reflow the joint and everything should be fine.
  24. I really doubt some kid who kept spamming handheld-related threads is smart enough to hack a site... Then again, I've seen crazier. Here I thought it was just my internet connection being funny, I hope Sega-16 comes back up soon.
