What's the best top-down RPG on the NES?
Koopa64 replied to vdub_bobby's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I find the lack of EarthBound (Zero)/Mother from the poll list to be most disappointing. That game is one of the best RPGs you'll ever find on the NES. There does exist an official Nintendo translation, it was just never released. -
Is it a good Idea to microwave this to be microwaving Atari 2600
Koopa64 replied to BDW's topic in Atari 2600
ROTFLMAO! But seriously... thanks for that visual. Think I'm going to throw up now. hehe A little ad thingy popped up while I was watching and said that these guys make money off their videos. Is this true? If so, how? Don't you have to buy something from an ad on YouTube off their page in order for them to get paid? If not, how does that work? I think when you sign up your account for advertising on YouTube, the ads generate money for YT and the owners of the account get a share of the profits off the advertising. Obviously this would only be worth signing up for if your videos get a ton of hits each day. Either that or YT decides you'd make them a fair amount of cash and give you some too... But I think you have to sign up for it. -
Holy cow, I just checked out that site and almost went blind! I can't stand black backgrounds and white text. At least the Video Game Critic's site can be reversed. lol But yeah, so what's up with the Neo Geo site? I'd imagine a lot of trash talkers there probably still arguing over which version KOF, Fatal Fury or World Heroes they like best rotflmao Neo-Geo.com's forum users are not known for their hospitality towards newbies. (according to them) they feel no obligation to be nice to users new to NG.com so they troll and flame practically everyone. It's sort of like the internet's version of Hell... If you have a thick skin you may find some people that see eye-to-eye with you but with so many other, better forums available, I feel NG.com is doomed to stay stuck in the vicious cycle it's currently in. Edit: Oh yeah, there is very little Neo-Geo discussion there. Ironically, only the new users do much of any discussion on the arcade hardware. Most of the older users (who have been there for over 5 years) just use the site for social talk.

Me too my friend, me too lol And for those that are reading this and might be a little confused, to give you an example though of how different the architecture is, on my Amiga 2500 with a Blizzard 060 card running at 50mhz... I can surf most of the net perfectly fine. Certainly the kind of sites I frequent. Tons of recent plug-ins (jpg, bmp, sound, pdf, sound, etc.) aid browsers such as iBrowse and am even setup for SSL surfing. Of course, I'm not including the sites with frivolous "features" such as video streaming, but for the most part and trying to keep daily tasks on a comparable level, my A2500 feels snappier than my 2.1ghz G5 iMac. If only the power requirements were the same, I'd actually want to use my Amiga more than my Mac (wish it had a true sleep mode, not just shutting down the SCSI drive). But then again, a reset or cold boot takes less than 30 seconds I've got USB, Ethernet, large HD and a relatively "modern" video card; the Cybervision64/3D, all inside this puppy. Wow! You're pretty hardcore with your operating system of choice... Most everybody else would choose Windows XP or something... O_o I'd choose Fedora as my "non-mainstream" OS of choice though. Best part about it is, Fedora can run on the same hardware that Windows XP can!

Yeah, we don't need good ship AtariAge turning into the next Neo-Geo.com now do we?
-
Well, you have more Atari carts than I do, so consider that a good thing! Missle Command... D: Nice choice of Nintendo games, though you're missing some good ones. Why all of the horror games? Nice tour! I don't mind the shaky camera.

Thanks for giving your insight on the matter Shawn Sr. I've been following this situation very closely from when that user started telling people on GameFAQs about his find. If I recall correctly he bought it off eBay for a hefty sum, though you could ask him yourself if you want. I always believed this unit was completely legit but I never thought these US AV NES Top Loaders were "repaired" units. I thank you again for voicing your opinion.

Just wanted to mention that Nomads are extremely valuable. It WOULD be worth his time and money to replace the screen on it.

Super Mario 2 JAP Version Mentioned Before Allstars
Koopa64 replied to A2600's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I do believe I have that guide kicking around somewhere. Very nice read with a full walkthrough for SMW. Only problem is my copy is in pretty rough shape. The pages started falling out so I had all the pages hole punched and put in a binder. Now the holes are ripping from abuse from "other" people. >_> -
Just picked up a SNK Table top cab

Just noticed your sig. 2old2play? That sounds really familiar. Wasn't there a mention of that group in an issue of Official Xbox Magazine? -

So this thing was recently made? That'd probably explain why I've never heard of it before. That's pretty damn cool. -

That does not look like an original NEO-GEO cab. If it is, I have never, ever seen or heard about it before. -
Not a very good attempt at a 500 topic I must say... They usually work off memes or something... I love my boxed 32X games.
-
Very, very nice stash of games. There must be over 9000! You seriously need to organize everything though. Also, don't stack heavy things on cardboard boxes, that's how they get crumpled.
-
Cool. ... I don't see no NEO-GEO...

My Mom bought me one back in the day, around when it was released. I thought it was pretty cool but I eventually got tired of it so I sold my e-Reader and all my cards. I had quite a few, a couple Pokemon cards, several SMB3 cards, some NES cards, a Game & Watch card or two and some other cards like Kirby Slider and an Air Hockey game (IIRC). I've been thinking of buying another one. =/

The pic of that dev PS1 looks like the same one I saw on GameFAQs. Are you that same person by any chance... >.>
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the power button prone to breaking? I've heard some cases where it wouldn't turn off or on.

That dev PS1 looks awfully familiar...

This is all I have for Atari games: Ms. Pac-Man Choplifter Pole Position 2 Xevious Desert Falcon (defective) Karateka Seaquest (2600) Earth Attack (2600) This is what came with my 7800 when I bought it. I've been meaning to buy some more but I've been putting it off... I should at the very least get Missle Command... That's one of my most wanted 2600 carts... I have failed Atari Age...
-
Bump for new pics.
-
I use a 27" General Electronics RF-only CRT TV.
-
That's like saying NES carts are only good for so long because the Super Nintendo doesn't use the same carts as it.
-
nothing huge but I haven't had a wild find in ages :)
Koopa64 replied to Godzilla's topic in Atari 2600
Holy ****! Was it $25 for everything you listed? You pretty much robbed the place. -
Haha, good point on the "set-up to play" note. I was already playing games so I saw no point in putting the controllers away. Also, you need to buy another Sega CD PRONTO. Maybe I'll take pictures of my cartridges and CDs next. >.>
