  1. Hah, I've got the later Majesco re-release of Sonic 3 in cardboard. The game's label is all dark and bootleg-lookin', and it's in a freakin' Acclaim shell Man, it looks so cheap. The Super Nintendo had some re-releases made by Majesco as well. You can identify them in a few ways: - Front label feels papery and is not laminated (!) - Manufactured in Mexico - Included manual probably in black and white - Back half of the cartridge shell has the text molded into the plastic, instead of a label. I wish people stopped treating the Genesis like it's icky or something. It has many parallels with the SNES (and mind you a lot of stark contrasts as well).
  2. Too bad this display cable problem isn't just a soldering problem or like on the 32X with a pair of ribbon cables which can cause the unit to not function. VBs may not take beatings very well, but they sure do have one hell of a markup. If it weren't for the ridiculous prices, I'd have bought one a long time ago.
  3. I like how nobody will ever dare speak of such atrocities and heresy on Nintendo systems, but when it's something like a Sega system? Butcher them boxes like it's going outta style! Mega Drive newbies never show any respect...
  4. I too appreciate the N64 controller for what it is, a shot in the dark of the polygonal world. The same thing was common with the "phone" controllers of the early 80s, just experimentation because nobody knew what was the best way to make a good yet multi-functional controller. I love how so many people here fail to realize the parallel here. The N64 was probably the 4th or 5th system I ever had contact with. Prior machines were Apple ][, SNES, the Game Boy line and Windows PC.
  5. Never heard of MKCD failing to work in a Model 1 Sega CD. You sure the disc isn't too scratched? Do any other scratchy discs work in your tray loader? Model 1s are certainly known for failing to work that's for sure. Post this thread on Sega-16, lots of tech gurus over there who've been able to fix their tray loading Sega CDs.
  6. Ooh boy, juicy stuff in that thread on NG.com. Perfect example of why that place is the best place to do business. Any monkey business is quickly nipped in the bud.
  7. I did buy that PSP1001, didn't I? Thread could do with a bit of updating.
  8. Home console shells can make excellent arcade board consolization cases. MVS is a popular choice. Definitely don't throw any of them away or make em into tacky lamps! Hell, offer them in the marketplace, there always seems to be a small yet constant demand for console shells.
  9. For the Genesis 1 system, remove the 32X and see if it says "High Definition Graphics" behind the cartridge slot (talking about the top of the console shell). Graphics problems don't sound too good with that MVS. Did you get it diagnosed over at Neo-geo.com? Fixing those boards is a little too hardcore for me at the moment.
  10. The GBA SP2 was released in only three colors. Graphite, Blue and Pink. It should be easy to find one if you know what colors they are.
  11. MVS is way better because it's easier on the wallet. Grab a soldering iron and join your fellow brothers, Gravey!
  12. Hmm, I don't think there's much advantage in my offer then, unless you like the idea of having two Turbo systems. For what it's worth, AV jacks are stupid easy to put on a TG16. The only hard parts are desoldering part of the RF shielding and drilling the case properly. Now a region mod is another matter entirely. Is that loose Genesis a High Definition Graphics Model 1 system? That Neo Geo MV-1FZ is pretty tantalizing, though I really shouldn't seeing as I already have one. EDIT: Didn't see that you have a pic collection up. Cool stuff. Don't see those arcade boards though. Man... Too much nice stuff on AtariAge (including here) and not enough cash to satisfy everything. I'd trade, but my stuff is largely junk.
  13. I was looking at your wants list and I noticed you mentioned a TG16 + Turbo Booster. Would you take a TG-16 with RCA jacks mounted on the case instead?
  14. http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/185026-fs-neo-geo-carts-cds/ I think those high value items of yours will come in handy.
  15. Not a problem. Glad I could be of some help. :)

  16. Hm, pretty slick way of tackling that cartridge slot! Nice work.
  17. Here, I fixed your Mario gif. All it needed was for one duplicate frame to be removed. This particular Mario only needs 3 frames to walk forward. :)

  18. Yeah, I don't get the problem of understanding incompatibility between systems either. It's not like CD and DVD based consoles where the discs are of the same physical properties, aside from the consoles themselves. Most every game cartridge is significantly different from system to system. All you have to do is show the kid that Super Mario 64 doesn't fit in the SNES. Problem solved and the kid learns something new.
  19. You do know your Mario avatar is walking backwards... Right?

  20. I probably got it at a retail chain like Wal-Mart. Definitely wasn't online. EDIT: This is also the Canadian version. Note the French text on an otherwise US-region box. (I know most of the text is too small to see, but you can read French on the ESRB rating on the back)
  21. I bet he connected wires between the 72-pin connector and the NES motherboard and glued the modded connector to the console shell, or sacrificed a Game Genie cartridge and applied the same method.
  22. Then I must be in possession of the rarest North American 360 game ever. A pressed disc is pretty hard to fake.
  23. If you haven't already, you should post about that game on NintendoAge. They love variants and misprints.
  24. Damn nice lot here! Excellent price too. Man is this ever tempting...
  25. Did you actually buy that new at retail? If not, it's really easy for someone to open two NES carts and swap the PCBs between them. Now a misprinted optical disc is definitely something that cannot be faked. Certainly a collector's piece that is!
