My Live World Record Donkey Kong 3 DVD for Sale!
Koopa64 replied to homerwannabee's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Its a homemade movie my cousin and I made in 1989 and yea, its kinda Star Trekish. I made a fake Atari label and put it on a space war cart and even made a fake Atari commerical. I have WAY too much time on my hands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6iqlHBTFfA Wow! Now that is vintage! Did you guys digitize this movie and put it on YouTube or something? How long is it? Feature length? Or more like a featurette or a vignette? -
Maybe Apple ][ stuff. It seems everything is overpriced for it on eBay, so maybe you can find a lower price that would attract buyers while still being flippable.

Hey, I'd watch Captain Spacey... Is it anything like Star Trek? -
My Live World Record Donkey Kong 3 DVD for Sale!

If you want to half-way impress people, get a lightscribe DVD burner and a pack of lightscribe DVD-Rs and make some good disc art in photoshop or something. Here, I'll even present an example of something that can be done with lightscribe: This isn't exactly the most complicated or detailed piece of disc art, but it's certainly better than a sharpie wouldn't you guys say? -

My Live World Record Donkey Kong 3 DVD for Sale!
Koopa64 replied to homerwannabee's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I'd want to see pics of this thing. My DVD-fu isn't half bad I think. It's amazing what one can do with a home ink jet printer, high quality paper, lightscribe DVD-Rs and some skill in Photoshop and quality DVD software. Now what would be REALLY impressive is if you released your Donkey Kong 3 world record on VHS. -
Nintendo Wii U out next year between April and December
Koopa64 replied to HammR25's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Certainly the biggest disappointment this E3 was a complete lack of Wii news. What gives?! Is Nintendo TRYING to kill off the Wii? I thought they were supposed to be drumming up sales so they can coast between Wii and Wii U smoothly. That press conference is NOT how you take care of a system with lagging sales. The only thing keeping this E3 from being a certain one Sega participated in was "The Saturn is not our future". Also... No Pikmin 3. FOR SHAME NINTENDO, FOR SHAME!!! -
I bought two 32X systems loose. I know what it's like to hunt down rare parts... Then again, I got lucky with my patch cables.

Yeah, I can't see this going for very much. Maybe $20 or $30, given how expensive the RF switch is these days? If I my money wasn't already tied up, I probably would have grabbed this... If the shipping didn't kill me first... You know, I probably won't ever be able to convince myself on a 5200 because of how expensive the shipping would be. I bet given how bad Canada Post is for screwing people over, I bet it'd cost $50 at least. /rant Good luck with the sale bandit. Surely that 5200 will find a loving home here.

Hmm, must have missed that part of the press conference. All I saw was the crappy ass Commodore 64 music video... -
Fair price for a TurboGrafx-CD or TurboDuo
Koopa64 replied to A_Locomotive's topic in Classic Console Discussion
CD games are region free. It's the HuCards / TurboChips that are region locked. IIRC, card converters for PCE -> TG16 exist, but not the other way around. Also, $100 is not a good example of what a Duo costs. I'd buy one in an instant if I found one for a sum that low. Most Turbo Duos sell for $200 - $250, sometimes higher. TG-16 CD add-on units sell for even higher. The original PC-Engine DUO is the cheapest possible option, but like the Turbo DUO it's capacitors are cheap and dry out quickly, leading to mass audio failure. The DUO R and DUO RX are less prone to this problem, making them more valuable. I don't know what PC-Engine CD add-on units are worth, don't see them often. -
Man, is that Sonic one ever creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy!

Project Cafe: It's about time we had a tablet controller
Koopa64 replied to Rev. Rob's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Like they did last time, with the GBA-as-GC-Controller link-up cable that all of two games used? Last I checked, that wasn't the standard controller, hence why it was used so little... -
Fair price for a TurboGrafx-CD or TurboDuo
Koopa64 replied to A_Locomotive's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There is no such thing as a 'fair price' for either of those machines. The rabid fans have made sure they sell for hundreds of dollars consistently. The PC Engine-CD and PC Engine DUO are somewhat more reasonable, but you'll be restricted to Japanese region cards (CDs are region free). The DUO R and DUO RX are more expensive because they are the most desirable out of the Japanese systems, more reliable and all that. Overall, be prepared to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a bare working system and maybe a game or two. TGCD and TG Duo systems are more expensive. -
To everyone reading this, don't overlook both of the 32X's cartridge connections. They must both stay clean, very clean. The 32X doesn't tolerate dirt, or just plain bad connections, very well. It's understandable though, lots of hardware in there that needs a solid connection between two other large pieces of hardware (main system, cartridge), compared to regular Genesis games that have only one connection to worry about.

Was DCEmu.co.uk having problems?

Yeah, I got one from them. Never even made an account there actually... -
am I the only crazy fellow who favors RF?
Koopa64 replied to Sonic R's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'll let you all in on something important with RF; Much of the quality depends on your Television. Seriously, this information needs to get out there. If your TV is a low quality model, you'll never come to appreciate the best RF is capable of. Another aspect of RF is the cable you're using. For example, with your Atari, if you are using an RCA cable + RCA to Coax adapter, a thin RCA cable can ruin everything. You NEED a thick TV cable, it is a MUST. However, auto RF switches are a different situation. For these, such as Nintendo and Sega brand switches, they are very hit and miss for reasons I haven't discovered yet. You might have one RF switch that produces absolutely fantastic picture, while another might be full of snow. When dealing with auto RF switches, it's best to build up a small collection of them so you can find the best condition ones. EDIT: Overall, my point with this post is it's totally possible to have excellent quality on RF. No snow, no waviness in the picture, no interference, just a bit of blurriness and a slight lack of color fidelity. If it were possible to photograph a CRT screen like how the human eye views it, I would be able to show you all how impressive RF can be. -
I call it "Sealed Markup". Basically it's a guideline that stems from the flawed idea that any video game sealed is worth a lot of money, multiple times more than a cart only or even CIB copy. Not every game is valuable when sealed. Look at F-Zero Player's Choice or Donkey Kong Land 3. People found cases of those games, which caused their value to plummet to absolute rock bottom.

I hope this doesn't end like the O'Shea liquidation... Weren't all of his 2600 and 7800 games melted down? I don't recall reading about anybody actually buying out his inventory.
