  1. I would be happy to lend a hand. We have a magazine in the UK called Retro Gamer. They have a home brew section which often contains new atari games. I could send you details and / or write up reviews etc etc. Of course nothing will be copied from the magazine, would just use it to find the new releases and their availability.

  2. Have tested the Aquaricart on my UK Aquarius and am pleased to report it is working perfectly  :) . I have not had a chance yet to play all the games thoroughly but I did test every single option on the cartridge including the trivia, help and instructions pages and the quick start keys.

I even plugged my US mini expander into the UK aquarius and carried out a diagnostic check... Everything works great.

I will give it a more complete test in the coming days - but I can't imagine there being any major problems. ;) (although I will need to turn the volume down on Melody Chase - that game drives me crazy :x )

p.s. I have updated the box design. Small in size and graphics are neater. I have sent the original file to Jay in case he would like to change it.

  3. Hi Everyone,

I have received my Aquaricart and will be testing it on my UK system on the weekend.

I have produced a simple box for the Aquaricart (with Jay's blessing) for anyone who wants to make one for themselves. Just print it out on an A3 card and cut, glue etc etc.

Too big to attach so you can download it from:

It's uploading now so should be ready in a few minutes.

  4. I know the console with the biggest failure rate! The dreadful xbox360!

As for commercial failures my favourites are the Amstrad GX4000 and the Fairchild channel f.

Was the sega nomad a failed system? Not many around.

  5. That Amstrad PC 20 looks suspiciously like the Sinclair PC, part of the Sinclair professional series (did they redesign/repackage it or something)

The Sinclair PC was black if i recall correctly, i saw a couple at a PCW show in the late 80's

They are the same machine. Both released by Amstrad after they bought the Sinclair brand and technology rights for $1 million. Pretty good deal ;)

The Sinclair Spectrum +2 and +3 machines are also Amstrad machines.

  6. I don't see an Aquarius in there :D

I can't believe I did not put that in there :ponder: . btw I have ordered and paid for one of those Aquarius Multicarts. Really looking forward to playing all the cartridge games on a real system.

My newest additions to the collection are the Amstrad PC-20 and the Acorn Archimedes 3020.

How's the Tardis? Full yet? ;)

  7. I have a Archimedes A3020 which was donated to me by a nice lady from west London who stumbled upon my website.

We used these almost exclusively in schools here in the UK. I remember our IT room was full of RM Nimbus machines emulating BBC Micro's! But in the corner there was a Archimedes! Which the teacher was always using! :x

When I started my Design Technology lessons in year 8 I got my first taste of the Archimedes and the true brilliance that is the game Elite!

I also went on to produce my first computer animation on an Archimedes - a circuit diagram showing the flow of electrons.

Archimedes were more powerful than IBM PC's by a long way - the thing that held them back??? PRICE!!! They were too expensive!

The processor could not be matched by anything else at that time - but Acorn messed up on their operating system which forced many users to upgrade later. The Archimedes graphical hardware was not as advanced as the Amiga - but the faster processor made up for a lot of that. 3D games were very popular on the ARC but 2D sprite games were very processor intensive due to the Video Hardware restrictions.

The RISC PC went on for a long time after the Archimedes - and some people are still using them. Google search for the RISC PC Pizza Oven!

  8. I once had a dream that nuclear war had broken out and people were scattered around the globe. I managed to get in with the head of a makeshift settlement by showing him all my retro-computers in the back of my van (I was probably the only person with a working vehicle).

I spent the rest of the dream trying to set up some sort of Social Security computer system for everybodies details so we could reunite people from seperated families etc etc. Very nobel stuff. I remember seperating all the Z80 based machines and 6502 based machine into seperate networks!

I woke up in the moring completly shattered. I hate dreams where I'm working hard!
