I have a question.... When is it OK to rummage through someones garbage? Because I did.... And I hope you understand why I was walking down one of the many streets in my area to get to the train station so I could go to work. It was rubbish collection day so everyone (including myself) had been busy the night before putting our black and orange bags outside for collection. For some reason I found myself looking at how much rubbish some people manage to collect through the week. One house in particular caught my attention as there were SO MANY BAGS! All colours and sizes. Then something else caught my attention.... A White grid pattern which reminded me of Christmas Morning.... The Grid patten I was always hoping to see when I tore off the Wrapping paper of my presents... The Grid patten which meant I had a new MASTER SYSTEM game to play!!!! So I walked over to the bag and pretended to do up my shoelaces, took a quick look around - it was early so noone was in sight, then I took the bag and looked inside........ MASTER SYSTEM GAMES...... BOXED MASTER SYSTEM GAMES...... WITH INSTRUCTIONS AND EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I grabbed the bag and walked home - left it in my hallway and then left for work again. When I got home later that evening I took a look at what I had found. Arial Assault Batman Returns Golvenllius James Bond 007 - The Duel Marksman Shooting NewZealand Story Operation Wolf Rambo III Rescue Mission Sonic Chaos Sonc the Hedgehog Speedball Spiderman Tom & Jerry the movie.... All Boxed with Instructions.... I hope you can forgive me - but this has to be a good reason for going through garbage!??? Any other stories out there?

Night Driver is a fantastic game. I remember playing it when I was very young and thinking how realistic it looked! Damn! Got to buy it now!

I have the Mattel Aquarius Version! -
I subscribed on issue 99 too. Just 2 issues in and it's cancelled... I enjoyed getting those envelopes through the door too. Made me feel somehow more involved with the scene. You will be missed 2600 Connection.... Don't suppose there is anyone here who would be interested in keeping it going? I offer my services as a European printer / distributer! And wouldn't mind helping out in other areas (webhosting on my site etc.)

Does a Dreamcast to PS1/PS2 adapter exist?
retrozoneorg replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Classic Console Discussion

Does a Dreamcast to PS1/PS2 adapter exist?
retrozoneorg replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm sorry but I know for a fact that all consoles from the gamecube onwards (including the dreamcast) use a modified USB interface for communication. Like I said - it may not be configured the same way as a "Microsoft" USB - but the technology used is the same. And cheap to mass produce since they are now used in almost everything. -
Looking for a small disc enclosure for 2 floppy drives
retrozoneorg replied to joeventura's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
You may find an old BBC Micro drive enclosure would do the trick. They often had the power supplies built in already - so could save you some time. -
How Much Power Do Game Systems Draw When Off?
retrozoneorg replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Timers draw power too Best way is to power everything down when not using it. Any draw on power, no matter how small is going to cost you in the long run. -
Does a Dreamcast to PS1/PS2 adapter exist?
retrozoneorg replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I know that both the PS2 and Dreamcast both use the USB standard for their controllers - only the plugs are different. The problem might be in the button mapping and / or drivers. But it's also possible that just changing the plug will work. Don't know if anyone has ever tried it.??? -
Mysterious item found at Goodwill Computerworks.....
retrozoneorg replied to RARusk's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Maybe an early attempt at motion controlling a game? Like the Playstation would see your movements and translate that into the gameplay? Maybe that's what the connector is for - some type of camera. ????? -
Retro Duo, Just A Few Questions, Can You Help?
retrozoneorg replied to Respawner's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hi, I have one of these consoles and I can tell you that there is no way it can rip the pins from your games. I think the console would break in half before that happened. I also live in the UK and this console works fine on my TV (LCD) using the composite video in. The NES emulation is really good (the sound is perfect). The SNES emulation is not perfect but playable. Although I did have trouble with PAL mariokart for some reason. Also the SuperFX games do not run perfectly (lot of screen distortion). Conclusion??? It's great for NES - not so great for SNES. There is a NES only console out there by Yobo - might be worth checking that out. -
The Answers: 1) I don't know the model number off the top of my head but I always called it an RF Modulator. I have one spare if you're interested. 2) The A500 is a cut down version of the A2000 so there should be no problems using A500 software on the A2000. Suggestions: My 2 favorite games from the Amiga are: Cannon Fodder (great title music too!) Syndicate. Have Fun!

Has anyone else tried emulators on the PSP. It is now possible to run emulators without installing a hacked system ROM (using a RAM resident program called "ChiCKEn"). The Amstrad CPC, Sega Master System, Megadrive and Nintendo Gameboy emulations are running great! Old style gaming on the move! However.... The SNES emulation is poor - sooooo SLOW! The PSP is more than powerfull enough to emulate the SNES - why the speed problem??? Has anyone else had any luck emulating the SNES on the PSP? Are there other PSP based emulators out there?

Could somebody explain this to me?
retrozoneorg replied to rhindlethereddragon's topic in Atari 2600
I think it's because gaems of the past required perfect timing - or very wuick reflexes to play. Modern games do not - you can pick up any new game be it racing or First person shooter and play out of the box and pretty much know you are going to get through the first level or 2. The old games were very unforgiving. -
Does installing a new version of Windows affect 'D:\' ?
retrozoneorg replied to GOTHCLAWZ's topic in Hardware
If you don't know what a partition is you should not be thinking about re-installing windows. Come to think of it - if you don't know what a partition is you should not have a computer! -
