Is this a way of protecting yourself from the "I dunno, it may or may not work, I don't have anything to test it with" sellers? Exactly. I don't want to waste money on a console that doesn't work unless I'm buying it with the intention to fix it.

PS3: Difficult to Program For on Purpose?
Linkz1 replied to Linkz1's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I think Nintendo learned a lot from that experience...you might say they were humbled from the results of the fifth generation. Granted, the GCN was not the best console in the world, but at least developers could program on it. Nintendo learned from their mistakes but look at the shovelware the Wii is getting at the moment! Indeed. Though a lot of the shovelware is coming from a lot of the smaller game studios. A lot of the first party titles have been good, and certain third party developers have made good use of things...just look at House of the Dead. -
Is the CD a major improvement to the cassettes in terms of load times? Obviously it's an improvement for saving space...

I really don't have any rules for game collecting, but these are a few things I follow: 1. The cart has to have been tested and working. 2. No one cart is worth breaking the bank for. 2a. With the exception of rarer games, like MUSHA or items like the Supercharger. 3. When purchasing a console, it must be complete with cables, power adapter and all necessary controllers. 4. Have fun!

I'm currently bidding on a small lot of three games and a Supercharger on eBay...hopefully no one snipes it...there's still close to three days left so I'm guessing someone will inflate the bidding like mad on it.

I have it and enjoy it, but it really lives and dies by multiplayer.

I've never been a big fan of this holiday. It's probably because I'm not Irish, either way, I've always been quite lost when March 17th rolls around every year. To me, this day is nothing more than my best friend's birthday (can you guess what his parents named him?). I live in central Massachusetts about an hour away from Boston so a lot the "festivities" are lost to me. Granted, the city of Worcester (pronounced wus-tur) has their annual parade every year, but I never go. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the drinking aspect of this holiday. I'm always happy to engage in a good drink...but sadly, St. Patrick's Day always seems to fall right in the middle of the week, the worst time to go into work with a hangover. No...I guess I may just never "get" the whole reason behind this holiday. Even so, I still enjoy wearing green...though I don't have any on today...and I may get myself a nice six pack of Guinness when I get out of work tonight. I wish you all a happy St. Patty's Day! And may the luck of the Irish be with you.

Has anyone heard of the review show, Classic Game Room? It's probably the best and most unbiased (unless we're talking about the Sega Genesis) review program on YouTube. The show originally started back in 1999 as a small side project for two young web pioneers for the website USALive.com. Unfortunately, after a year, the site folded and the show went dark. Then in late 2007 it was revived. Now it has a thriving channel on YouTube, and it's site can be found at www.classicgameroom.net. I absolutely love the way these reviews are done, and most of all, that there's such a focus on classic games. There's a ton of hardware reviewed, and an occasional appearance of the guy's dog! So yeah...go check it out. It's pretty damn entertaining.

Was there recently an Atari 2600 warehouse find?
Linkz1 replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
If you look at the prices it does make a difference. CGS is offering lower prices on some games and free shipping.I was thinking about picking up Pitfall 2, so let me know how you make out with it. Will do. Hopefully Pitfall II arrives the same as Stargate. They seem to have pretty positive feedback based on the volume of sales they have, so they must be doing something right now. -
I just saw this game reviewed on Classic Game Room, I could not stop laughing the whole time! I now need to go and get a Wii Zapper and this game...it just looks too funny, and nicely done!

Even though I only have a woody 4-switch, I'm going with the original heavy sixer...classic cool!

Was there recently an Atari 2600 warehouse find?
Linkz1 replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
I picked up a sealed copy of Stargate from them and it seemed to be in great shape. The shrinkwrap on the box must have been the original as the box was being crushed slightly by it. The game was perfect and plays fine. I'm currently awaiting a copy of Pitfall! II so we'll see if the quality continues. Perhaps this group is under new management? And to add a quick note: I bought from Classic Game Source, not Game Liquidators. Not that it really makes a difference as they're the same people... -
Discovered a different version of Raiders of the Lost Ark today
Linkz1 replied to Wickeycolumbus's topic in Atari 2600
My cart of Raiders uses the right joystick for controlling Indy and the left for the inventory. From my understanding, this is the more common version. -
Is the PS3 doing any better than what it was a couple of years ago?
Linkz1 replied to Ross PK's topic in Sony Playstation 3
what a great site, I think this chart shows it best. Having played with the page quite a bit, it doesn't seem like ps3 is really gaining any traction at all. Odd that the only 'loser' sony console is the one I like. Oh well, it's looking like, title wise, this might be a pretty good year for ps3. I wonder if there are a lot of 360 users that have bought more than one system though. With the way this generation is going, I think it'll be interesting to see how Microsoft and Sony respond for the 8th generation...will they continue to focus on technical mastery, or will they bring a focus back to the games like Nintendo has been trying to do this time? I'm not shocked by how poorly the 360 is doing in Japan either... -

After seeing Enduro in action, you HAVE to get this game! As do I!

I just gave ya a 5. Good review! Definitely need to speak up a bit but otherwise, great job. It's nice to see more people on YouTube who actually review a game objectively and don't just scream and swear the whole time.

PS3: Difficult to Program For on Purpose?
Linkz1 replied to Linkz1's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Indeed...but the difference this time around is that the PS3 had very poor launch sales, and despite having decent numbers sold, most people are buying the PS3 because of the Blu-Ray and not to play the games. Also, Nintendo has grabbed a huge market share by making a lot of games for the Wii that appeal to a broader audience. Not to mention, many of the exclusive licenses Sony had in the last generation are gone, specifically GTA and Final Fantasy. -
This is a paid commercial for the Macintosh Peforma from Apple...it's from about 1995...I remember watching this back then and begging my parents to get us a PC...do you remember it? Hope you enjoyed it!

That'd be one hell of an accomplishment!

But that's half the fun!
