  1. Lucky you. I think I have version 1.02 that they list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Revenge_of_Shinobi#Versions The skeletal dinosaur that they replace Godzilla with is actually really cool looking. BTW, have any other games had multiple versions released due to copyright issues? Indeed...cost me about $30 total, not too shabby for a rare cart. I looked up MUSHA on eBay, and the cheapest cart is selling for about $55! I'm really tempted to get that game, it looks totally amazing. Hmmm...not sure of any other games out there that had copyright issues...
  2. Sonic 2 is definitely the best Sonic game in the whole series...I thought that Sonic 3 was a let down in fact. And I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of a copy of the original version of Revenge of Shinobi with Spider-Man and Batman!
  3. Thanks to the change to daylight savings time this past weekend, I've been driving to work in pitch dark all week long. Monday we had a nice little snow storm which made things extra dark outside, yesterday morning wasn't as bad since the sun was just starting to peek out on it's long trek across the sky. This morning though, I think you would have been extremely surprised to see that it was morning! We're in the middle of a nice little rain storm right now, and it's still pretty dark outside. So daylight savings time has yet to get us any real daylight since we changed the clocks on Sunday. I dunno...I'm not a fan of waking up and still having it be dark outside at six in the morning...But what does it matter really? At least it's Wednesday, and when I get out of work I'll have only 2 days left to my week. Anyways...guess I should get back to work...
  4. In terms of the best possible use of the Atari 2600's system resources (without the supercharger) how about Defender 2 ? Truely an incredible achievement to get such an accurate port of the awesome Defender Stargate working on the humble VCS. Berzerk Voice Enhanced deserves a mention here also, Outstanding Job Mike . Indeed, I think Stargate is easily one of the most technologically advanced titles for the VCS. I was very much stunned by the level of detail and the amazing sound effects that were used on this cart. Anyone know off hand how much memory was used on this one?
  5. Nice to see we have a number of Genesis lovers in our midsts! Has anyone had any luck scoring a copy of MUSHA? I saw that game reviewed on Classic Game Room and it looks absolutely insane. Also, how is Altered Beast? I'm curious about that one...
  6. Totally agree with you here. E.T. definitely isn't close to "the worst game ever". I actually enjoy playing it when I have an adventure itch...well...I have four of the big adventure titles anyway...Adventure, Haunted House, Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. Haunted House definitely doesn't get it's due nearly as much as it should...it really started the survival horror genre if you look closely at it. What I like most about it, is that you can choose a lot variations, randomization is a good thing!
  7. Between last night and this morning: Dig Dug - 45 mins Mario Bros. - 25 mins Yeah, I just got these this week...Dig Dug was factory sealed!
  8. Yes, it's basically more of the same. Of course, the action fits the Indy-verse, so there's no characters comparable to the Jedi. One significant advancement is that characters have tools and can pick up the tools of others. So there might be a puzzle that requires digging. If you have Sallah or some other character with a shovel, you can just do it. But if you don't you might be able to find a shovel and use it with any character. Of course, there are only three "episodes", so it might seem short if your only experience is with "The Complete Saga". There's also the problem of a lot of characters that just aren't individual enough. How many different German soldiers do you need? Still, there's lots of fun to be had and if you are an Indy fan it's well worth it. There's even an unlockable Han Solo and a few other Star Wars references scattered throughout. I see...though shorter length is good for me since I really don't have a ton of time to devote to my games. I remember the same thing in regards to multiple characters of the same type in the Star Wars game too...especially the prequel game...how many clone troopers did they need? (I know, they were created to sell more toys...)
  9. I've never played Air Sea Battle but have played Space Invaders a lot...I've seen Air Sea Battle in action, and it looks fun, but I'd have to say Space Invaders.
  10. They have always been ghosts to me, and they will forever be ghosts.
  11. I try to get the games new. Optical disks are too tempermental to not buy one that has yet to have been played.
  12. The only one on the list I ever played was Raiders. I always wanted to try Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb on my PC though. Question to those who played LEGO: Is it similar in style to the Star Wars games, as in it's sort of tongue in cheek and let's you fool around with the environments?
  13. True enough...now, if only kids born after 1985 started appreciating it... 1985? I'd say 1980... Most kids born after 1985 haven't even heard of Atari. You my friend (and a few others on AA), are the exception. I was born in 1979 and we we're definitely the NES generation. I was the only kid I knew that had a 2600... everyone else had a Nintendo. That's kind of shocking actually...most of my friends are a little older than me, but are still 80s babies and they prefer the Atari as well...then again, we're not the graphics whores that a lot of younger gamers tend to be.
  14. True enough...now, if only kids born after 1985 started appreciating it...
  15. Pretty neat little article, though it seems to only be a short history of the Atari.
  16. Nope that was pretty much every server. Tempest How could you stand it?
  17. I can't believe you didn't mention Wii Sports! Granted, it's essentially a tech demo of the Wii, but it emulates the sports really well, especially bowling. The other game that uses the Wiimote well is Super Mario Galaxy. It's subtle and works beautifully.
  18. Indeed. I played FFXI off and on a few times since it came out. What I ultimately got turned off by was the fact that you have to group in order to advance at all in the game. You can solo up to about level 10, but after that you have to find a party if you want any hope of leveling in a moderately quick manor. I just could not stand logging in, setting my LFG tag, and walking around the big city aimlessly for nearly half an hour waiting for a group invite. Worse yet, whenever I was in a good group, someone would need to leave while we were deep in monster territory...and once one person left the rest would leave then it was every man for himself on the way out. It may have just been the server I was on, but I really did not enjoy the game too much.
  19. Unfortunately, my TV does not have extra coax or HDMI inputs, so I had to purchase the RCA to coax adapter for the cable and an R/F swtich. It works pretty well, the only negative is that occasionally there can be static in the picture if the R/F has interference. Overall, it's pretty nice to have this setup, it's relatively cheap (cost about $15 total) and you don't need to fiddle around with cables every time you want to play your Atari.
  20. I'd love to get a working Model 1 Sega CD...those things were killer...that and I need to get my hands on a Power Base Converter...I'd love to play some of the old Master System games.
  21. Everyone who is into classic gaming clearly remembers (or knows about) the console wars of the early to mid 90's between Sega and Nintendo. I was a Sega guy back in the day. Despite loving Mario, I just liked Sonic the Hedgehog more because he had attitude and seemed like a badass. Poor Mario. Anyways... This thread is dedicated to the Sega Genesis! Which model do you own? Do you have the Sega CD? How about the 32X? The Power Base Converter? Talk about your favorite Genesis games! I can remember wasting hours sitting in front of our little 19" TV in the kitchen playing Sonic every Saturday morning...or waking up at 5AM, plugging in the head phones (so I wouldn't wake up my parents) and playing Rocket Knight Adventures. Those were the days. Rocket Knight Adventures is probably my favorite game from that era. It came across in the ads like another game mascot clone of Sonic, but in actuality, it was totally different. The use of the rocket pack, and having it set in a medieval setting with quirky characters was genius. I still love playing that cart. So let's talk about the Genesis! And remember: Sega does, what Nintendon't!
  22. Mario Bros. (2600) - 10 mins Dig Dug - 25 mins Millipede - 10 mins
  23. I've always been a fan of classic games...but for whatever reason, when I made the jump to the Playstation back 1998, I never looked back until recently. Last summer I had the itch to hook up the Genesis...unfortunately my sister had my original Genesis and couldn't get it back to me...I ended up on eBay, found a console with a lot of games, and started collecting classic games. Since then I dusted off the Atari and hooked it up to the TV...and damn. I've been stuck in the thros of Atari gaming goodness since! One of my favorite things about collecting classic games is finding games I never played as a child. Games like Adventure, Pitfall!, Ice Hockey, Haunted House, Frogger...the list goes on. One more aspect I love is how simple the old games are to get into, and how many hours of fun they offer. Nothing beats playing Defender, because someone has to save those humans dammit!
  24. Yesterday was a slow day: Centipede - 20 mins Othello - 30 mins Haunted House - 10 mins And I need to add: Donkey Kong Classics for NES - 20 mins
