So I have another slow shipper...I ordered and paid last Saturday, just shipped today. At least if there's going to be a delay, send me an e-mail.
-
Nice scans....what other games are in that book?

Love the DK IRL pic. Definitely a magnet I'd love to have on my fridge!

Yeah it's a great game (one of my all time favorites).. but it's not Donkey Kong. It's a puzzle game. And just because it has a facsimile of the 4 initial stages at the beginning doesn't mean anything because the gameplay is so different. I mean, I can do 2 or 3 reverse jumps in them and get to the top.. you can't do that in the original Indeed...part of the reason why Donkey Kong is so great is the difficulty...nothing beats being chased by multiple barrels and a fireball on the girders level!

I've only ever played the NES version of Donkey Kong, but the fact that it lacks the Pie Factory board is reason enough for my vote to go to the Atari 8-Bit version. I have seen the Coleco version in action, and sadly, it lacks the great sounds from the arcade. It looks fantastic though.

I haven't tried this one myself, but one that I've seen is in Q*Bert. The trick is to lure Coily up to towards the top of the pyramid, then jump off just as he jumps to the top, he'll follow and fall down, you'll get points and won't lose a Q*Bert! Other than that one...I've done the Adventure trick. I must say, pretty clever!

I was able to squeeze in a bit this morning. Breakout - 10 mins Defender - 15 mins Q*Bert - 15 mins Thank goodness tomorrow is Saturday, I can spend my whole morning playing Atari...reminds me of the days when I was a kid, playing the Genesis all Saturday.

How's about Raiders of the Lost Ark?
-
This has probably been done before, but if you were to be left on a desert island and could only bring one game with you, which would it? I'd probably end up bringing Q*Bert.

Q*Bert. The game is simple and totally addictive. Not to mention Q*Bert was the first character to swear.

CGE2K7 DVD w david crane and others looks really cool
Linkz1 replied to Godzilla's topic in Atari 2600
Considering Netflix has the DVD produced by Classic Game Room, I wouldn't be surprised if they had this. -
Random Terrain, feel free to add this one to your site. I am an E.T. convert. I had been raised to believe that it was the ultimate in bad games (and I've played some bad ones). I had heard the stories, I had seen the YouTube reviews, I've even seen pictures of the so-called "land-fill" where the excess cartridges were dumped. I had never seen the game in action until I watched Spoony's "review" of E.T. on YouTube. Like many others, all it did was highlight how not knowing anything about the game and diving right in was a bad idea. I suddenly was intrigued to give it a try. And I loved it! I play E.T. a few times a week now, and thoroughly enjoy it every time. It offers a unique experience every time I load it up (playing game 1 is the only way to go), and it's fun trying to beat my old scores. And to add...I love Adventure and Raiders of the Lost Ark as well. Superman not so much.

This definitely looks like a must watch DVD, but the price is rather steep...I'm gonna have to check Netflix for this one. -
I think 7 days perfectly reasonable. When I do sell on eBay, I try to schedule the auctions to end on a day where I can get to the post office (usually Saturdays since I work Monday-Friday) so that way I can ship out immediately following payment. I also make sure to e-mail the buyer to let them know when the item has issued. I usually never get the same courtesy when buying however. Though there's a few sellers I've purchased from recently that have been really good about shipping fast, and giving tracking. I had one instance back in October where it took the seller over 3 weeks before he actually shipped the item. That definitely is not good service...I suspected he didn't have the item despite the fact he was offering it for sale.

No kidding. More and more Sonic games are becomming less and less like Sonic games. Indeed...this is why the Sonic franchise has gone down hill since the move to 3D. The speed is gone. Interestingly enough, Nintendo Power gave this game an 8 out of 10, while IGN gave it an abyssmal 3.4...I'm wondering, is Nintendo Power drinking the Kool-Aid on this one?

I actually didn't buy my 2600, my dad did in 1980. After sitting around our attic for years, and then just collecting dust in my apartment, it still works as good as it did before. As far as the number of games....hmmm...I think we had about 10 or so games. I've since added a few to the library...

I have the wood grain 4 switcher. I love how well these systems are made that they still work almost 30 years later. I mean, I have a Wii, and after owning it for a little over 3 months (without playing it too heavily either) the disk drive went on it and it had to be fixed! They don't make consoles like they used to.

How is Oink! ? I've been looking to pick up on eBay, it looks pretty fun. So today was an E.T. kind of day... E.T. - 45 mins, I was able to complete the game about 4 times. The final completion was the easiest...the first one was the most frustrating, the FBI guy and the scientist kept showing up just as the countdown finished up. Oh well...I finished this morning with a score over 64k!

Indeed...I am a fan as well. I actually went as far as to purchase The Classic Game Room DVD that came out last year. I must say he's probably one of the best critical voices of video games online...and they have a cute puppy!

Counting last night here's my current tally: Othello - 10 mins Video Chess - 20 mins Ice Hockey - 20 mins Haunted House - 30 mins E.T. - 25 mins

Idiots Destroy Heavy Sixer and other Atari 2600s
Linkz1 replied to Atari Charles's topic in Atari 2600
Indeed. It's nice to see younger folks taking an interest in classic gaming. Not enough appreciate how great these games are. This video really turned my stomach...they sound like they're 12 years old and have probably never played an Atari game in their life. I love how the consoles stood up to the punishment though! -
So far today I played Yars Revenge for about 20 minutes and Adventure for about 30 minutes. The first game I played in Adventure took forever, the bat hid the sword so I was constantly being eaten by the dragons! I hate that bat!

Any classic gaming stores in the New Hampshire area?
Linkz1 replied to STGuy1040's topic in New England Classic Gaming (NECG)
Not sure if you're up to the drive, but there's a store called That's Entertainment in Worcester. They have some Atari games, and an amazingly large selection of NES, Genesis and SNES games.
