  1. Fantastic that the sound is working again - thanks! Just opened an issue on github regarding controller support, though - can't get it to recognize a PS3 controller that works fine in Stella for Mac OS X.

    Actually, not a bonus score for getting a powerup - I was thinking more along the lines of giving a point multiplier when the user gets a "negative" powerup - i.e. the player would score 2x points while the "reversed controls" powerup was active. Again, very entertaining game! Thanks!

    Very fun game! A suggestion: Throw in some incentive for the player to go after a "detrimental" powerup...like a point multiplier if they get the "reversed direction" or "wide" or "slow" powerups. Otherwise, why would a player want to grab those? Also: I initially tried the game on the latest version of Stella, but it also seems to run with no problem my heavy six modified with svideo and stereo out, with the exception of the spider-looking ships that appear starting in level 2 are a bit too dark to see properly (they show up as sort of a dark olive green for me). This could be because of my display setup (s-video out to an HDMI converter to a 4K TCL TV), but it'd be nice if they were a bit brighter and easier to see. Again, very entertaining game. Thanks!

You just need to disconnect pin 5 in the Sega-compatible controller and "Bob's your uncle": http://www.atariage....ost__p__2058974 Just did this, and it works like a champ - no need to hold down the middle button when firing up my Harmony cartridge, and Thrust+ works like a champ with the asciiPad now.
  5. Actually, I like the gamepad-style controllers on the 2600 simply because they're a lot more comfortable. I specifically like the asciiPad vs. the stock Sega Genesis controller because it's thinner; the SG controller feels "fat". This controller works for the majority of 2600 games, but certain games (Thrust+, for example) don't work with it. Some my next question: can anyone recommend some sort of easy-to-do / simple hardware hack that will disable all the extra stuff on the SG/asciiPad controller and make it functionally equivalent to a standard 2600 joystick controller? Or better yet, make it the functional equivalent of the Atari CX78 two-button joypad (the one that came with the 7800 in Europe)? That seems to work well with Thrust+ (and everything else), but I find it too small for my hands. Thanks.
  6. I've been using a Sega Genesis-compatible asciiPad joypad with my Atari 2600 for years...I originally got these to replace the Atari PainLine controllers that shipped with the Atari 7800. These things work really well on the 2600, for the most part, but a couple of games don't like the asciiPad. I just got a copy of Thrust+, and unfortunately it doesn't work with the asciiPad controller. Does anyone happen to know how to re-wire an asciiPad so it's 100% Atari joystick-compatible?
  7. Nope, the TV's fine with everything else. I'm trying to narrow it down to the console (was there ever a color drift problem with these?), the Pitfall II cart (was there a shielding or heat issue with Activision carts?), or maybe even the switchbox (although I've tried a few)... Thanks, Scott
  8. I have an original "heavy sixer" 2600 console, and I've noticed some strange behavior with it: after I've had the console on and running for a while, the colors will suddenly go off. I've noticed this mostly with Activision games - Pitfall II is the worst. The greens will go kind of a muted brown, etc. This is during gameplay, and is NOT the built-in color shift that happens when the console is idle for a while. Is this a problem with my console, or with the Activision carts? Thanks, Scott (Atarian since '77)
