  1. fired off an email to George today (remember email??) and he is indeed still alive, and is indeed working thru' shipping these out.

    excellent news.

Although YEARS have passed since this project was floated, being old and easily distracted, it only feels like a few months to me.

  2. think my unit is defective.. from the (very poor) diagrams of the AVM on the web i can see the CPU has alot of inputs, from controls etc., and some clear outputs to the modulator. I'm not seeing anything like what i should see on those outputs in any sort of repeatable or predictable fashion. Sometimes i can get something that makes sense, but the lack of consistency is making it hard to make a call on what's the right or wrong thing to do. i think tying all the lines to the modulator together via pots to make composite would be the way to go for a quick test, only as i said, i think my unit is flaky at best. I'll try this next time i have free, then if i still get nothing, it's mothballs for the unit which is in suspiciously perfect cosmetic condition.. (You all know what that means!!)

i did build another longhorn engineer modboard, the newer design, but it's not alot of use in this case - going to put that in my light sixer to replace the ugly old one i did years back..

Oh, i do see residue on the web of a circuit-bent AVM with composite out that went for sale a while back - it looks lovely in fairness, and after being inside this thing, it's VERY easy to bend, and quite safe too. if i ever get this displaying, it will be modded for sure.

  3. Yes, i saw that, it looks fun.. Kinda want to get my AVM into this millenium though, if i fail i'll look at building a doppleganger.

Comparing the 2600 and AVM diagrams now, think i'll try building another longhorn board..

  4. Has anyone done the Composite or s-video out mod on an AVM here? Looking at the diagrams is not alot of help since they are poor resolution, it's hard

to pick out some things due to blurring, but it does seem like an awful lot of the pins on the CPU are joined together after a resistor ladder on the output side -

i guess this is how they are deriving the composite to feed the modulator?

going to try building the same mod as would be used on a 2600, see if it works out..

  5. In my mailbox this morning:

I’m writing with great news! As of today, we have confirmed a date for the final pieces of the Skunkboards arriving, and we have set a shipping date for all of the Skunkboards -- this coming Saturday, November 5th!

  6. I only just discovered this thread - none of the links work, and the torrent is dead.. If someone would like to re-seed the torrent, i will seed it for a year in return :)

Also: using TPB as sole tracker is not a great plan, since some ISPs are blocking TPB _still_ - it's a good idea to use some other free trackers, like publicbt or openbittorrent.. just sayin'

    I made a cover here: http://onorisoft.info/jag/ojc_cover_hi.png

I would like to thank you all for the great comments about the CD :)

Does anyone out there have this cover saved as I wanted to print one but the link no longer works :(

  7. It's quite clear - you need to set up an account with google checkout to use the service.. If you just enter an email address, the next 2 fields insist on being filled out:

Minimum of 8 characters in length. [?]

Required field cannot be left blank

If You leave the account creation stuff empty, and just try to use the creditcard to make a payment, it fails. The Giveaway is to the right of the page where it says: 'if you already have a google account' - this implys you must have a google account to use the service.

So, to use the service and pay this way, You do need to set up an account, and associate Your CreditCard details & phone number with an email address.

Look, this is all great for people who have google accounts, but for those of us that choose not have google accounts, it's not so great. No big deal, just a little frustrating thats all.. I can wait for the ATARIAGE STORE to get stock :)

  8. That is correct, you do not need to set up a Google Checkout account. You can pay with a credit or debit card and it's no more effort than any other onlne merchant that takes credit cards.

I don't see this.. You have no choice but to register a google account to use their checkout service.. You can go ahead and try to just enter Your credit card details, but it will not let You continue without an email address and password..

  9. Just got finished playing NTSC KLAX on one of CPUWIZ's SARA boards.. The SARA donor was a SUPER SPRINT cart, and the Ziff for the Eprom came from Ebay (as you do).. there's a bit of a smell of burnt plastic after carving a hole in the cartcase 'the lazy way', but i am knocked out over this!! CPUWIZ - thanks :)

I may have had a false start by using the ROM from the donor cart by mistake, thinking the chip location was the same as on the CPUWIZ boards, but after a small psychotic episode, things worked out Just fine..

  10. Millipede is fantastic indeed. It is a great great game, and it will stay that forever I think.

Ever played the atari 8bit version of that? I even like that one more, but on 2600 it is cool too indeed!

Only ever played it in the arcade and on the 2600.. i hated it in the arcade, as the machine i used was joystick based, and compared to centipede with it's trackball sitting next to it, it just didn't work for me.. I didn't expect much on the 2600 version, but it's just got that 'extra something' that makes you play again & again.. This evening i have lined up:

    BERSERK

    DIG DUG

    CALIFORNIA GAMES

    &

    JOUST

..which i will get to as soon as i have a had a quick session on Millipede. Maybe.
