Well, it's a great mod and i'm very happy with the result, although i could have done without the braindamage of strip-board TBH.. The next step is to have dual or triple Stella chips, assuming the pinouts are the same, then i can switch between NTSC/PAL/SECAM.. maybe even a simple cart system for the stella would be the way to go since the Stella is (mostly) socketed in the 2600.. Mmmm.. (mind wanders..)

Pics You say.. They aren't pretty i warn You! Behold extra stuff on the rear after it all: And the mod on 2 bits of stripboard sitting on some packing foam to the right & 5v feed taken from the regulator on the left to power it all The cheeky 5v tap to the poor little FMS6400 chip - all the crud is mostly melted adhesive strips BTW, i used them to pin the chip before applying the heat and they sort of 'ran' a bit.. remind me to clean that.. er.. i forgot.. I Tapped the underside of the SIA ship with Lan cable and passed it thru a hole in the shield, as you do.. Seperare feed for the audio from SIA, i attached shielded minicoax to the cableblock A also replaced the Regulator (+5v one) and the cap above it for a nice new (but not the same package) posh Black one.. Mmmm.. Black etc.. So now i have Bangaroo audio out on 2 minijacks (prefer them) S-VHS out and Composite out and can play my slightly-faster NTSC games in comfort and safety, and avail of loud, clean and seperated audio for SYNTHCART also.. I didn't really plan this out well, i just housed the chips and got wirein', so it doesn't just _look_ like a mess, it IS a mess.. But, Yes, it works really well. A good design & excellent docs balenced out my haste & inexperience But, i'm still in the Q for a nice neat Longhornengineer lad from the next batch for my 'weekend' woody..

Just finished doing a homebrew version of the longhornengineer.com mod - i was too late to pre-order one, so i made one on stipboard.. The only pain was mounting the SMD chip, but it worked out well by bending the 2 5v pins upward and away from the chip, leaving good spacing to drop the remaining 6 pins onto 3 rails of the stripboard.. the rest was simple, made on 2 bits of board and linked to the underside of the TIA with LAN cable. I powered the mod with 5v from the tap point next to the regulator 5v out. The audio mod i did by lifting the pins on the TIA, and duplicating the common circut with 2 caps and 2 resistors.. I took the 5v for this from the joystick port as it was handy. It's loud and clear. I used mini coax to wire this as audio is important to me (SYNTHCART etc.) just in case.. After some poor initial tests with waves cycling up the screen, and mild distortions, and some carts not wanting to boot at all, i uprated the PSU from the stock 200ma to a meaty 600ma regulated, I replaced the 5v regulator, and the 2200 cap on the switchboard, snipped the legs to the modulator and and i have to say it is PERFECT. well, as perfect as s-vhs can be.. I do have to turn the contrast & brightness DOWN on my LCD to get the best blacks.. All in all - a definate WIN! Also: hi! great forum/community!
