Way to tell rom version is to look at the last 4 bytes right after 'KSB.' of the rom image. (note period = 2E)
In lowbyte high byte format is version number eg 20 01 = 1.2 10 01 = 1.1.
The last 2 bytes is supposed to be checksum excluding those 2 bytes (at least i believe that is the case).
There is another location where version number is kept. In V 1.2 rom, it is at CF5 again in low/high format. V1.1 will be in a different location.
Edit. Just checked V1.1 rom. 2nd Ver num location is in same place at CF5.....

Thanks for the info James.
These technical knowledge should be useful to tjlaser for burning my eproms. :-)

What type of ROM chip does it need to be? 27C32?
Hi tjlazer,
yes, the eprom installed in my INDUS is AM2732A-2DC. I don't know the difference with 27C32.
waiting for your reply
thx

I do but i haven't used it in years. It is a super e burner from css. Also am in australia so postage may be a bit.
James
Hi James
thanks for your reply.

I can burn chips if anyone needs. $10 plus shipping.
Hi Tjlazer
If you can burn the right rom version (v1.2) is not a problem for me.
I will buy two Eprom from you.
Let me know the shipping for the Italy.
Or, if you want to come on holiday in Sardinia i will buy 5 or 6 chips.

Hi Larry,
i have two IndusGT for Atari full working.
The first have the firmware ver 1.2, the other ver.1.1 (I read that it is not perfect)
So I'm looking for a EPROM programmed with ver.1.2....do you have a eprom burning?
If yes, please let me know.
Also I contacted Best Electronics for the 1.4 version, but i've a question:
Is the ver.1.4 the last/stable firmware for the IndusGT?
That's all
Thx in advance

Thanks a lot for the info. I will contact Best for 1.4 version 😙

Hello all
As the object i'm looking for IndusGT firmware version 1.2.
Best Electronics have the ver 1.4..but reading in the forum it seems not be the last or stable version (or i'm wrong?).
Can anyone help me?
If anyone have the ver 1.2 (full working) please let me know the cost.
Thanks in advance

hi ppl
I'm out of time since last post :-) but the GS error on Indus seems to be a common problem.
Have you check if the head moves?
If it does not move means the step-motor is not working. :-)
In this case, the problem may be the UDN2541B (Quad NAND-GATE Power Drivers).
If the I.C. is ok than may be the step-motor (replace the mechanics).

Hi Stephen, thanks for your reply.
U17 is 74HCT32.
U22 seems to be equal to U20 and U24 (74LS74)....the HCT version is for TTL levels.
So I think it is 74HCT74...but i'm not sure.
Anyone can help me?
Maurizio.

Hello ppl
I'm repairing my Indus...the step-motor is dead (caused by the failure of U6 - UDN2541B).
Of course I have ordered the parts (5x SN75437A). :-)
But my question is another:
I am seeing the mainboard and I saw an IC with the sign canceled
The IC is U22 (CD74HC???)..
Anyone knows the exact sign?
Thanks for any help

The chips are custom PROMS, just buy a new cartYou are right, I think the same!
Just a curiosity:
Can i replace the PROMS with EPROMS and burn them with "Donkey Kong Jr." code?

Please, give me a suggestion.Maurizio
Try inserting just the pcb into the slot without the shell. you may not be getting full contact. Chip side down.
Only other thing might be poor receiver slot, or chips.
Ok done...but the cart not works.
I got several cartridges ALL woking.
I think the problem are the chips, CO60340A-29 / CO17340A-01.
Anybody know if i can found this replacements?
thx

Hello James
The contacts seems to be ok, so i don't know what is the problem ( i think a bad chip).
Please, give me a suggestion.

Those edge connector contacts don't look so great.Try a cloth + isopropyl alcohol (aka video head cleaner).
Supposedly, pencil erasers are also good for cleaning them.
I have tried with isopropyl alchol and head cleaner, but nothing...its not works!
I will try to rebuild the contacts using varnish of silver...i hope to be luck.
thx

Hello folks
I am new in this forum, my name is Maurizio and live in Sardinia (Italy).
Well, just a question about the object.
I got an old cart (Donkey Kong Jr.) but its never worked.
When I insert the cart on my 130XE, its goes in "self test" screen.
I check the cart pcb, all wires seems ok (i used a dgt tester).
What's the problem?
Bad chips?
Thx in advance
Maurizio

IndusGT - looking for firmware v1.2
in Atari 8-Bit Computers

Have you swapped the mechanical?
I had a problem in my IndusGT...the drive did not read.
In other hands the head not moving. Step motor defective? NO...the problem was the chip U6 (UDN2541B) fault.
I have replaced it with SN75437 and now, the drive is working perfect. :-)
