So if SSSD = 90K, DSSD = 180K, then what is the extra 80K used for in the smaller size? The same if you have a DSDD 360K, you then have an extra 190K. Just wondering :-)

3D Printed Objects/Cases & Carts for the TI
acadiel replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Thanks, Nathan! I'm going to try to print one on our community college's Dimension printer (enclosed, heated bed, about 5 years old, uses ABS) once I'm completely done with it. If we make any mods, etc to it, I might just take you up on your offer, especially since I only have use of the printer for two more months while I'm enrolled. -
"Flappy Bird" on the C64... now for the TI!

I bet you RasmusM could do a pretty cool port of this... and add a chiptune with Tursi's routines, and we'd be good to go! -

3D Printed Objects/Cases & Carts for the TI
acadiel replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Here's the fixed STL File. Didn't export with the correct units. (Sorry everyone who doesn't like inches... it's the micrometer the community college let me use, and it wasn't mm...) Also, I put it into Shapeways to see what they would charge. Wow. $40. Just for half. Besides printing it on the community college's printer when I'm done to make sure it's OK, where else can I get a decent prototype print without breaking the bank if I make any changes? tishell.zip -
Need to fix the redeye here....

3D Printed Objects/Cases & Carts for the TI
acadiel replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
OK, guys... This is the completed top (minus a screw hole). Note that I haven't started the bottom yet. I will dimension the bottom the exact same, but will not be able to tell I was accurate until I have both the top and bottom printed. Enjoy the eye candy. The .zip file is the .stl file. tishell_top.pdf tishell_top.zip -
Hey, I'm only 38. That's not old

3D Printed Objects/Cases & Carts for the TI
acadiel replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Thanks! The top part is what I did tonight in class (One benefit to auditing is I can do what I want). I have the inside of the top extruded out, and will start the posts and board mounts next. I will mirror them, so if I draw one, it will do the other. Will cut my work in half. Bottom half of the case will follow in short order afterward. Practical experience... Just designed and 3D printed a lock key maker holder (they were missing one(: -

I can distribute the Inventor file for non profit use, yes... I just had to be enrolled in the class to use the program. Now that I'm actually in this 3D CAD class, I'm having fun. See below. tishell.bmp -
I did the "copy to my dropbox" functionality on this file... awesome! Didn't have to download it and reupload it

Senior, this is truly amazing work! Great job!

Thanks for putting this together, Rasmus! I'm also thankful Fred made the module creator. It was getting really tedious cutting/pasting/editing compiled cartridge headers.

Awesome - yes, I figured it was some sort of expansion system from the first picture, but have never heard of it before. :-) As old as our equipment is, I'm surprised that it is lasting as long as it has!!

Side bar, I did put this whole thread URL in Google Translate, and you figure it would translate it, but it just told me that it was already in English! Apparently, it is either "all" or "nothing" for Google Translate

Ich muss dieses Gespräch in Google Translate setzen, es zu lesen :-) I have to put this conversation in Google Translate to read it :-)

I love the fact that since I made the design available for download, that many people have been able to manufacture them! That is just awesome!

Ernie, I can host it on Hexbus.com as another mirror. I might be able to drop in your exact site with some edits, and my daughters have been bugging me to no end to edit my website. I have plenty of space and bandwidth which isn't used. I can probably use a tool like SiteSucker on my Mac to download the whole thing. Web66.com, my provider, I've been with since 1998. I get something like 10GB of storage (like I would ever use near that much). An insane amount of transfer (50GB) too. jg

Hi, all. It is still in development. Currently, Tursi is debugging a possible power issue we saw during the Faire. The ROM part of the board is working ok, and the manual is mostly complete. Tursi has also written some pretty nice software to program the ATMega. As this is a volunteer effort, it is slow going and in our spare time. If you are interested, Arcadeshopper does have 64K boards if folks are interested in those. :-)

Here's an explanation of my thought process. Be warned, this is long. I don't very often post rants, but since I consider this one, I might as well speak my mind all at once and get it over with. No offense is meant to anyone, so if you take it that way, please PM me in private so we can discuss. The issue is that the 512K status thread was hijacked with a discussion that didn't really belong there. It should have been started in a different thread. That thread should really be for Ksarul, Tursi, and I to update status and for others to ask questions about status. We are the primary people responsible for that project. Also, I keep pointing new AA TI members to that thread to watch for updates (I get probably one email a week), and what do you think it does for the community when a new person sees a large debate going on? Granted, it's also my fault; I probably should not have let it go on as long as it did in that thread, but I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands nowadays. Not to mention I've been having some pretty crappy health issues to deal with that have gotten a lot worse in the past year. My own patience level can sometimes be very limited. Plus the fact that some of the discussion was bordering on personal attacks, and our community is so small, I hate seeing that happen. Yes, we (as Marc puts it) need to have our "big girl panties on", but our community is so small, we cannot afford to lose one gifted person. We have a very high concentration of those here in the forums. You, Tursi, Gazoo, Insanemultitasker, Marc, Ksarul, Rasmus, and more. I respect all of them! If we lose even a single member or dampen the enthusiasm of anyone, it does a great disservice to our community, and I'd really hate to see that. We've gotten so much done and gone so far even in the past two or three years to lose momentum because of what I call "stupid disagreements." My thoughts going forward might be something like Gazoo did. Open a thread with an utility, state what it does, and ask folks to use the scientific method to prove or disprove some method. Saves time, proves or disproves something, and takes heightened emotion out of the equation. There's my .02. Let's get back to building a better mousetrap. :-)

That was my best effort. If you guys are going to start giving me grief, I'll just go ahead and unregister right now. I'm not playing this game.

<sigh> Is this topic discussion really worth it? Does it really add value?

You can blame me for tagging the messages in the 512K cartridge thread that I had moved to a separate thread. I just wanted to clean it up and try to keep that thread what it was meant for; the whole GROM paging debate was taking almost half of the thread. I was unaware that the side effect would be that one person would be 'blamed' for starting the thread, so I apologize. -jg
