  1. I could print the WHOLE thing for less than $40 and mail it, too. I don't like shapeways markups, the person running the printer barely makes anything. If anybody wants one, PM me here or better yet, text me on my cel, that seems to be the best way to get ahold of me. 915-875-6998. I am thinking $25 shipped, but not sure on shipping since that could go anywhere.

If you text me, say who you are here and we can figure something out.

    Thanks, Nathan!

I'm going to try to print one on our community college's Dimension printer (enclosed, heated bed, about 5 years old, uses ABS) once I'm completely done with it. If we make any mods, etc to it, I might just take you up on your offer, especially since I only have use of the printer for two more months while I'm enrolled.

  2. Here's the fixed STL File. Didn't export with the correct units. (Sorry everyone who doesn't like inches... it's the micrometer the community college let me use, and it wasn't mm...)

Also, I put it into Shapeways to see what they would charge. Wow. $40. Just for half. Besides printing it on the community college's printer when I'm done to make sure it's OK, where else can I get a decent prototype print without breaking the bank if I make any changes?

  3. That looks beautiful. . .great job on the top piece of the case. Have you been able to get the posts inside set up too?

    Thanks!

The top part is what I did tonight in class (One benefit to auditing is I can do what I want). I have the inside of the top extruded out, and will start the posts and board mounts next. I will mirror them, so if I draw one, it will do the other. Will cut my work in half. Bottom half of the case will follow in short order afterward.

Practical experience... Just designed and 3D printed a lock key maker holder (they were missing one(:

  4.

I was having all kinds of trouble with the multiupload link; mostly to do with my firewall software and content filtering software complaining of malware on the site and all kinds of non-sense. I finally fired up a VPN and hit the link, however I found that most of the links were dead, but finally had success with uppit.

That said, I went ahead and uploaded the file to my Dropbox and thought I'd just share the link for future ease of downloading this version. Here's where I put it:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ei2ejswxlabpnz/TI99-4Av2.rar?m=

And thanks for all the effort you put into maintaining this fantastic database!!

I did the "copy to my dropbox" functionality on this file... awesome! Didn't have to download it and reupload it :)

  5. Sorry, Jon, for the mess. I am thinking that Google Translate is not much of a help here. I was able to fool even the german users, when I ripped lyrics from a german song to point CosmicBoy to my hometown. So I am not from the town "where the dogs are barking with their tails (wo die Hunde mit dem Schwanz bellen oder Ik bün all dor to hus is)", Kal El, but the town where its boys gone have some fun like Udo Lindenberg was 'singing'.

So Jon, CosmicBoy uses (or not) my CPS-99, something like your CorComp expansion system, to fix his own. Now, Kal El needs to fix his CPS too. Flottman1 shared his manual, a newer dsr and some pictures with us.

Kal El, I do not have any repair skills, maybe CosmicBoy might be able to help you.

Von E-Reparaturen verstehe ich rein gar nichts, aber vielleicht können dir Flottmann1 oder CosmicBoy helfen.

Awesome - yes, I figured it was some sort of expansion system from the first picture, but have never heard of it before. :-) As old as our equipment is, I'm surprised that it is lasting as long as it has!!

  6. It is somewhat disappointing to see that after decades and generations of AI researchers, we are still far from a "universal translator" like in Star Trek which instantly translates between languages.

Apart from the fact, of course, that this is not even possible if we had the computing power, just because of the different concepts in the languages.

The best results so far come from Google - using a brute-force strategy, and nothing really intelligent.

Side bar, I did put this whole thread URL in Google Translate, and you figure it would translate it, but it just told me that it was already in English! Apparently, it is either "all" or "nothing" for Google Translate :)

  7. I had better put some effort into explaining this properly the first time. Here goes.

I have ordered 10 (11 received) of Jon Guidry's v3c 64kB pcbs made from China, good price delivered for $40 US.

The link if anyone is interested http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fitm%2FLow-Cost-PCB-Manufacture-Length-10cm-Width-10cm-10pcs-%2F290566208188%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem43a7187abc

They do free postage if You ask via email, to Australia anyway, not sure about USA

I love the fact that since I made the design available for download, that many people have been able to manufacture them! That is just awesome!

  8. Ernie, I can host it on Hexbus.com as another mirror. I might be able to drop in your exact site with some edits, and my daughters have been bugging me to no end to edit my website. I have plenty of space and bandwidth which isn't used. I can probably use a tool like SiteSucker on my Mac to download the whole thing.

Web66.com, my provider, I've been with since 1998. I get something like 10GB of storage (like I would ever use near that much). An insane amount of transfer (50GB) too.

  9. Hi, all.

It is still in development. Currently, Tursi is debugging a possible power issue we saw during the Faire. The ROM part of the board is working ok, and the manual is mostly complete. Tursi has also written some pretty nice software to program the ATMega.

As this is a volunteer effort, it is slow going and in our spare time. If you are interested, Arcadeshopper does have 64K boards if folks are interested in those. :-)

  10. Imagine one hundred people trying to clean up threads with best of intentions.

Here's an explanation of my thought process. Be warned, this is long. I don't very often post rants, but since I consider this one, I might as well speak my mind all at once and get it over with. No offense is meant to anyone, so if you take it that way, please PM me in private so we can discuss.

The issue is that the 512K status thread was hijacked with a discussion that didn't really belong there. It should have been started in a different thread. That thread should really be for Ksarul, Tursi, and I to update status and for others to ask questions about status. We are the primary people responsible for that project. Also, I keep pointing new AA TI members to that thread to watch for updates (I get probably one email a week), and what do you think it does for the community when a new person sees a large debate going on?

Granted, it's also my fault; I probably should not have let it go on as long as it did in that thread, but I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands nowadays. Not to mention I've been having some pretty crappy health issues to deal with that have gotten a lot worse in the past year. My own patience level can sometimes be very limited.

Plus the fact that some of the discussion was bordering on personal attacks, and our community is so small, I hate seeing that happen. Yes, we (as Marc puts it) need to have our "big girl panties on", but our community is so small, we cannot afford to lose one gifted person. We have a very high concentration of those here in the forums. You, Tursi, Gazoo, Insanemultitasker, Marc, Ksarul, Rasmus, and more. I respect all of them! If we lose even a single member or dampen the enthusiasm of anyone, it does a great disservice to our community, and I'd really hate to see that. We've gotten so much done and gone so far even in the past two or three years to lose momentum because of what I call "stupid disagreements."

My thoughts going forward might be something like Gazoo did. Open a thread with an utility, state what it does, and ask folks to use the scientific method to prove or disprove some method. Saves time, proves or disproves something, and takes heightened emotion out of the equation.

    There's my .02. Let's get back to building a better mousetrap. :-)

  11.

You got it. There's 8 messages in the other thread that I would have moved to the new one to make it less disturbing.

But I wouldn't have moved anything in the first place so as to not confuse things. But you already know that about me. ;)

That was my best effort. If you guys are going to start giving me grief, I'll just go ahead and unregister right now. I'm not playing this game.

  12. You can blame me for tagging the messages in the 512K cartridge thread that I had moved to a separate thread. I just wanted to clean it up and try to keep that thread what it was meant for; the whole GROM paging debate was taking almost half of the thread.

I was unaware that the side effect would be that one person would be 'blamed' for starting the thread, so I apologize.

  13. The last development I have was that I got the schematic for my version of the NanoPEB from the developer... From what I can tell, we will need to do the following:

    1) Replace the 32K SRAM with a 128K one to use with the HDX. Mine has a 32K SRAM; current models have a 128K, so you could easily segment a newer model.

    2) Determine from Custodio's code which 8K segments are used in the EPROM and use another 8K segment for the HDX.

    3) Desolder the old EPROM and reprogram it (ugh). The RAM chip is soldered with it.

It'd take a little time to prototype (unsolder, solder, run wire, etc), which unfortunately, I don't have much of right now (time). It does sound doable, though, according to the NanoPEB developer. :) Just using a different section of the SRAM chip for the HDX RAM, and a different section of the ROM for the HDX ROM. Mostly moving around wires and probably adding some pull up/down circuity and other misc stuff (probably a few wires... <grin>)
