  1. http://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=334 Was this ever ported and released to the 8-bit computer? I'd love to have a chance to play it without owning one of those huge clunky 5200's with their awkward video interfaces.
  2. I need to find someone with a ROM burner to do my GTIA. I forget why exactly at the moment, but that's what I was told in the past in these forums when I was trying to learn how to do this. Of course I was also told that doing things as I have, leaving the GTIA alone, should render the majority of software playable, and so far, so good. Everything I've wanted to work, worked, with the exception of Bomb Jake of course, but it looks like I need to visit the web site for an update. Graphics seem sharper, though I've yet to hook up a regular NTSC unit to compare. Once I've added Composite to my 600XL I will. As for speed, I've noticed that PAL games that did run before, now run at the proper, slower speed without the graphical glitches. I then loaded up YOOMP! NTSC for shits and giggles, and it played a lot slower! Funny! I think I'll keep the 600XL NTSC for now just for that fact, or perhaps I'll have the VBXE2 added on to it. Bottom line. Every NTSC Atari Owner should look into doing this, so many games I could not play before are now available to me for a mere $15.00 plus shipping from B&C Computer Visions.
  3. Anyone ever see these for sale anywhere?
  4. Because I live in the U.S. and only have NTSC machines. Naturally this makes a lot of software and most demo's unplayable. Though now like I was saying, EVERYTHING works but Bomb Jake, which I can live with, but I must admit I was looking forward to playing that one. :/ On the upside Black Magic Composer now works 100% without locking up!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. So I did the Nir Dary MOD. Everything seems to have gone well. At first my SDrive NUXX kept flashing and I could not boot off it, till I reset it a couple of times, since then all seems to be working perfectly, wish the exception of Bomb Jack which gives me screen garbage and appears to lock up after I press the button to begin. The only thing that concerns me is that the ICA698 Antic chip, and the chip to the left and to the right of it seems to be getting a little hot. Not too hot to touch, but hot none the less. I don't usually run my Atari without the case so I dunno if this is normal for an Atari, so I figured I'd check with you guys. For the note, the chip that was on there before was a CO12296, which is strange because I thought the 800Xl would have a CO21697 instead, but I guess not.
  6. My only real complaint, being a musician of sorts, is the emulation of Audio is NEVER the same as the real deal.
  7. Is there a web site that shows the Atari XL and XE line of computers opened up with each chip labeled so I know what's what? I'm trying to switch out my NTSC graphics chip for a PAL one and don't know which one to pull.
  8. Which version was the last one created, or the most feature rich?
  9. Personally I'd go the 600xl or 800xl route, add a RAM expansion, video port for the 600, Dual Pokey Stereo upgrade, Internal IDE2CF device, or external SIO2SD device, and you're gold. The only reason I'd avoid the 130XE is the flimsy mother board (testy when doing hard mods), and the keyboard which does not feel near as comfortable as that found on the 800XL or 600XL.
  10. Puppy Arcade is great, but getting it to install to my computer's hard drive seems impossible. no matter what it tells me their is no MBR, can't even install it to USb which it seems to be made for as the USB stick will not boot either.
  11. Oh wow, I gotta check out this puppy business!
  12. I figured this would make a nice repair project: The goal is to use it with one my my new external 320k RAM expansions. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 280560487308
  13. I'm about to. Is there some way I can tell if a capacitor is blown by looking at it?
  14. I just got one off Ebay for about $10.50 shipped. It said it was dead so that is not the problem, I'm just trying to figure out why it is dead. When I turn it on it Get no display and I hear a buzzing noise coming from the Atari. Any ideas?
  15. I know I saw these for sale somewhere, instead of plugging an Atari into a composite input, you could go S-Video, but I forgot where I saw the cables for sale. Anyone know? Thankx!
  16. I kind of wish I had ordered four instead... :/
  17. Thankx, thankx, and thankx!
  18. Looks like I'm going to have to Nir Dary my 600xl while I wait for my 130XE to be repaired and upgraded.
  19. Got my wire soldered and am up and running, though so far I can not get Yie Ar Kung-Fu to load far enough to actually allow me to play the game. It gets close, then just hangs. Any other games out there that were not previously playable with only 64k RAM?
  20. I had issues with my Amiga when I was using a 1084s. It always displayed in B&W, then I remembered there was a button the back to turn the color off. I pressed it and all was well.
