  1. So I need to find a PAL Atari.... ...and Ebay seems rather dry lately. :/
  2. Why is it that some games and applications work under emulation, but have glitches or do not work at all when booting them on an actual Atari 130XE via APE, SDrive NUXX, or my Max Flash Cart. And why do some methods work better than others? I.E. I have some programs that only run through APE, or the SDrive NUXX.
  3. Then you are more or less a fairly short drive down I-75 from me. You ever hit up the Amiga user group meetings around there?
  4. Only looking at the very sexy VBXE hardware gives me already a warm feeling :D You are not the only one. I only desoldered the ANTIC before I had to pick-up my girlfriend. I hope to continue Wednesday evening. Robert I know that feeling! Regardless, I hope to have mine installed as soon as I can get one, assuming I can get one.
  5. NO! Nobody wants to be in Toledo! Ha ha ha... ...well unless their was an Atari user group up there, then that might change things a bit! As for the socketing idea, that really doesn't sound like a bad one at all!!!
  6. I like that video! I forgot to mention that the C64 pic has been heavily modified into an Analog Synth for use with mssiah. http://www.8bitventures.com/mssiah/ (The Atari needs software like that!!) Of course the knobs on the C64 are for your usual tweaks, along with dual audio in, dual audio out, the equivalent of two effect guitar peddles built in, etc.
  7. Ohio or this section of America must be some sort of Nerd breeding ground.
  8. The weather sux in my corner too, but that's why I pick up projects like this... ...it gives me something to do while I stay warm in doors! So anyhow, it IS possible to mod the hell out of your Atari and still get it to boot! Very nice to know, and it's also good to know that this should be easier than working with an XBOX. I really hated those TSOP's, though thankfully I don't have to touch it anymore!
  9. "I will not stop in what gives me pleasure." With the exception of murder, corporate or political crime, and activities that lead to mental illness... That is the perfect response!
  10. All I have are a couple of external Video Capture Devices. I can say that playback is clean and on time through the capture software I use, but I've not had any luck finding software that will allow me to use these simply as full screen video input devices, if I do, I'll post back here as it may work with your hardware. As for my hardware, I'm using a Dazzle Digital Video Creator 150, which my favorite of the two, though I've never been impressed with Dazzle's budget products. The other capture device is a Convert X PX- M402U which is a great device, but it is not well supported in Windows. As for Win TV's, the last time I used one of those I remember taking it back to the store right away because of the horrid quality and pack in software, though that was a while ago, so who knows what their products are like now a days.
  11. Beaverdam Ohio myself. Thankx for the additional tips. Again I have worked with the original XBOX, and thus far have not destroyed but 1, so I dunno, I may well pick up two 800XL's that way I have a test monkey. Of course, should I get a bite here, I think I'd rather trust the fate of my hardware in the hands of a more experienced electrician.
  12. QT Based you say? So in theory this could be ported to Haiku (BeOS), provided we had hardware drivers for the various devices as well...?
  13. Bob 1200XL: So by trivial, do you mean the work load for this task would be easy, or is it rather complicated? The connections seems old school and large enough, I imagine if I practiced and learned how to read the schematics I could learn, or am I on crack? Orpheus Waking: That's what I was referring to, Internal SpartaDOS X! http://www.mmj.pl/~lotharek/atari/www/sdx.html Was it very daunting to install?
  14. I initially picked up my Atari 130 XE to do musick with Black Magic Composer or Theta Tracker, but as fate would have it, I can't even get any of my copies of Theta to boot, and Black Magic freezes on me when I select various options from the drop down menu. I thought I was stuck with my HEAVILY modified C64 with dual SID amongst other tweaks, but I heard someone metnion Covox the other day, but though they were referring to the old speech box, until I happened to notice that Lotharka's page sells an item called the Covox, which expands the sound capabilities of the Atari. Not only that but it is also possible to double the POKEY chips for stereo sound! It also looks like I can replace Atari basic with Sparta Dos X. Am I correct here?!? Anyhow, I would really like to have these expansions, and have considered buying an Atari 800 XL for this purpose, if not using the 130 XE I already have. The thing is that I've never done a solder job beyond soldering a mod chip on an old XBOX, or modding an XBOX without a mod chip by crossing a couple small connections. So I am interested to see if there is anyone local to Ohio, or within the states at least that is willing install these MODs at a reasonable fee. Also I'm curious if it is possible to install too many MODs on an Atari. Like would it drain too much on the power source, break compatibility, etc.
  15. I didn't realize one little post would cause so many waves...
  16. At those prices I "might" get two my self actually...
  17. I made a post in the forums on Amiga.org to alert those of them who own Atari's about this. Needless to say I gave them a link to this conversation as well as a link to some Youtube videos of the Video Card in action. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope more people show an interest!!!
  18. I'd pay a bit more if needed! As for the board, I'd want to be buried with it.
  19. How when I know if or when a new batch is available? I don't want to miss out! I'm dying for one of these!!! Literally!
  20. MIDI... anything musical. It's a shame we can't interface those Rock Band USB Drum Kits to an Atari, now that would be nice! I've done some amazing things with those in Windows, but 8-bit beats would be so much better!
  21. I responded. Thank you so very very much! And it is interesting how all of us nerdlings tend to gravitate towards the same obscure interests!
