Consumer: Been checking out your page... ...can't believe how much we've got in common. Atari, Synths, Nature, Biking, and everything! BTW, your MP3 links are down and I'd really like to check out your work!

I'm going to have to side with the Jay Minor hardware. Yes, the St was faster, provided more colors, sharper pixels, etc., but at the same time, the ST line of computers didn't really begin to smooth out till about the STe or TT era of it's life span. Of course we've got the Falcon which was absolutely amazing, but let's be frank. The Atari 8-Bit was based upon the technology of Jay Minor, the Amiga was again designed by Jay Minor. This is why the Atari 8-Bit and the Amiga seem to have so much in common as opposed to the Atari 8-Bit and the ST. The ST was thrown together by a group of designers in the middle east somewhere as a quick attempt to compensate for the Amiga, being built by Commodore, who bought out Jay Minor due to Atari's un-willingness to offer him more money when he wanted it, etc. Like the PC which was also designed over night and rushed into production, it took the ST a while to work out it's bugs and short comings, where as the Amiga and Atari 8-bit were made with love over a long period of time with serious dedication. This has all probably been covered in this thread, but I've not taken the time to read through it all.

Thankx man! BTW, loved the youtube video too!

Aghhh, sorry KJMann. I'm googling right now for a picture based tutorial on this. In the mean time, you don't happen to have one handy do you? If my 130 is flawed, I want to correct it!

WOW! This has me more excited than the Wii VC release!

That sounds like a good date. Will give me time to get my money in order. yes please, keep producing! Hell make a whole new game system while your at it.

I'm not sure what happened to my multimeter. I went to get it one day and the wires were cut so I tossed it out... ...was acting kinda flaky anyhow. Moonsweeper: What is this that you are talking about? Cutting pieces out of my Atari? I've never heard about it, tell me more, I'm clueless. Also I had thought about the length of the cords maybe being too long.

Accuball Button Repair and Ball Tweaking.
Syfo-Dyas replied to Syfo-Dyas's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
And here is a picture of the bottom of the piece that the NES Gamepad's buttons sit on top of. I think these are what I need to fix this trackball. Anyone know what they are called? -
Are these still being produced?

I would most certainly want one of these!!!

Anybody using Atari 8-bit for anything productive?
Syfo-Dyas replied to Mr.Amiga500's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
My intention is to use Black Magic, Atari Drum Machine, and Theta Music Composer for my musick. As fate would have it, Atari Drum Machine has been the only thing I've been able to get to work thus far, as Black Magic seems to stop responding when I select anything from the menu system, and Theta Music Composer boots to a black screen. This is all using the Max Flash cart of course, so I'm considering moving on to the SIO2SD and see how that pans out. -
I just got an Accuball in the mail for my 130XE. As fate would have it, the auction said tested, but when it arrived the Button did not work. I have opened it up and took a couple photos so that you can see what sort of connector it is using for the button. The problem is that on the bottom of the button, there appears to be super glue, but what ever was glued to it, that triggered the button press is missing. I remember the old NES joysticks used this type of connector and I think I recall it having little rubber pads to register the button press. Now I'm wondering if I need something like that, or can I use something like tin foil? I have tried pressing the connector with one of the screws from the Accuball, and that registered, though sometimes it also caused the Atari to shut off or reset, which wasn't cool. :/ So any suggestions on this one? And question of less importance. Is it possible to clean things up so that the ball rolls with better precision? Thankx!

Looks like I need to buy a new multimeter as my old one is now destroyed. :/ For the note, all extender cables are brand new, I have 4 and all 4 do the same thing, and yes all joy sticks work fine when plugged in directly.
-
That's a thought!

I picked up a couple packs of joystick cable extenders for the Sega Genesis, assuming that all the cables would naturally be straight through and not crossed. Ironically, every single cable out of the bunch work fine with a Genesis, but when plugged into my 130XE, I can do everything but move right. So I'm wondering if anyone knows what might cause this, and if there are cables that work fine with an Atari. Thankx!

Thank you, and what's that in your avatar?

If I am going to get Synthcart for my 2600, I'll need to know how to modify the 2600 so it has a dedicated audio output cable... ...how do I do this?

Everything can be tuned for making music

Thankx for the link, right up my alley! New sounds are always welcome! -
Yes, actually what I'm building up towards is an internal IDE interface which I'll plug into a IDE 2 CF adaptor, then make a CF slot on the side of my unit. The idea is the run the system via sparta, and have a few musick apps on the hard drive, I.E. Black Magic Composer, Theta, and Chaos Musick Composer which I'll use for shows. So ya, I'd be interested in a link to that, or does the latest sparta support that, and if so where do I find it on floppy as well, or is that possible?

Hmm VERy interesting link... ...gonna link it from my page. And now I go home to experiment. Thank you!

C64 Sonice the Hedgehog like game
Syfo-Dyas replied to Syfo-Dyas's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Kinda like Crownland on the Atari 8-bit... ...it only runs half way decent via emulation, on real hardware the flicker and slow down become to bad to make it work playing through. If only the Atari had it's own Giana sisters. If only Crownland was designed with playability in mind rather than mere proof of concept... -
I don't seem to have the BOOT command, and which file is the system file. I read the PDF, was still kinda clueless Oh ya, and um... ...I only have the latest Sparta on as a cart image, so how then do I copy the system file what ever it is. This is why I like tutorials from the ground up, rather than tutorials written as if those seeking help already know the answer to their quesiton.
