Strange, the pic shows one with less than 40, but the description says that that is the one, or at least I can check a box for that option... confusing. I wonder what I would get if I don't check that box? One like the photo?

So how do I know the part #'s of the parts I need cause I also need to order one for a SID chip as well.
Thank you btw!!!

I'm about to install another Dual Pokey board and would like to put it onto a socket instead of soldering it to the board (as advised by Metal an Sloopy), but the thing is that I can't seem to find my way around Mouser's web site:
I typed in a search for 40 Pin Socket, and the results are everything but what I am looking for. Many links came up for things that are not sockets, or if they have pins or places for pins, are not 40 in number.
So I'm wondering, am I using the search engine wrong. Is there some technical name for these that I should know? Or is there a another US site to order such things from?

Good thing I've got a 6581 already in my system then.

If someone implements a NES video core for the VBXE, it would be much easier to make a SMB version for the Atari (with VBXE)

Robert
That's what I'm saying!
It would be awesome to see some releases made for the VBXE, especially a platformer such as Mario, if not mario itself!
As it stands, I believe there is only Final Word and that's it right?

That's a cool cart to be sure, though I think I would prefer to stick with the internal solution...
...I should post some internal shots of my other C64 (which I need to find someone to repair), it's a LOT more cramped than what this one will ever be!

Anyhow, lets say you have C64 board with a dead SID. I would not be able to pull that and replace it with what ever version I want because of Voltage differences?

And money sent!

I've been reading and enjoying your magazine to no end! The fact that the computer generated women has been replaced by real women really helped me adapt as time went on. I no longer feel like the mag is packed full of adverts trying to get me to buy a japanese sex doll!
My only complaint, is I want my magazine NOW!!!! I get anxious waiting on your to crawl out of bed and e-mail me my download link.

Keep em' coming!

Okay, I found original 6581's. I don't have any of the R4's, just original '83/'84 IC's. If that's okay, then I could sell you 2. But let me test them this evening to be sure they're working 100%. I not only test the audio, but I also have a diagnostic harness/cart I use to be sure.
I'd be happy with what ever I can get, and thank you for having a look for me!!

Thank you all. I'll check back in this week's end. Till then!

I'm not home atm, but if memory serves me correctly, the 6581's are the ones I need. If you are willing to let go of any I'd happily purchase them off you. If you don't mind, please send me a PM if you run across them.
Thankx!
As for the extra parts, would Mouser carry everything I need then?

Hello, I have one of those SID 2 SID boards that I ordered with my MSSIAH cart over a year ago, though I have not put it together yet since I'd been using my other C64 which already had dual SID amongst other things.
Well now that C64 has partially blown, and the guys who modded it will not respond to my e-mails, so I've got to set my working C64 up with dual SID, but do not know where to buy SID chips, let alone the other components I need for this guide.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I live in America, and my C64 is a PAL system.
I have been to the mouser page, but since I am not a full fledge electrician, I tend to get lost trying to find the exact parts I want.

I reply has been send to your private message, but for everyone reading this, YES the Nir Dary MOD does fix timing issues with both graphics, sounds, and speed.

To have and to hold...
HARDWARE!

However the PAL/NTSC mod will work in a pinch...Is this swapping out the NTSC Antic with a PAL one?
How does this work exactly? I have read that this will allow most of the Euro software to display correctly (providing you of course have a PAL capable screen), but what about audio? Will the audio timing still be all messed up and run too fast? Or is pokey generated audio reliant on the Antic chip?
Is there a way to have both PAL and NTSC Antic chips in one machine with a switch to toggle between them? Any other gotcha's to take into consideration?
I have removed the NTSC Antic from the majority of my Atari's and replaced them with PAL Antics. I also use an SIO2SD device and believe me, there are a LOT of PAL games out there that do not work at all with an NTSC Atari, the majority of them being the graphically impressive modern games from Germany and Poland.
I would HIGHLY suggest this upgrade! As for a switch, I don't have one, but I suppose it is possible, though you'll find that there really isn't a need for one, except to play the NTSC version of Yoomp! with the extra level, but that's why I left one Atari as an NTSC system.

Oh and the Nir Dary NTSC 2 Pal MOD is EASY if your chips are socketed. Just remove the NTSC antic, and replace. The end.
Antic chips can be purchase through B&C.

So there are others out there that envy what has been done on the C64 musically and would like to see such things on the Atari.
This is a VERY intersting post indeed!

Now you'll be able to tell us all exactly what it is, what it does, and what the software is like.

Will do!

Supreme Snake! Hey, you still got that Oscilloscope sitting around?

Krishna told me it'll work both ways. He dispensed his wisdom to me during war time.

Crap crap crap. I just won the auction and must have been tired and read wrong last night.
What you meant to say was "bullcrap", and "I messed up in understanding". LOL
[if you don't understanding what I'm saying, don't worry about it, just inside jokes I guess you could say, nothing about you. And by the way, APE rocks.]
I was gonna say... "You makin' fun of my broken English foo!?!?"

What we need is a DIY guide for people to add a 1 Meg SIMM to the various machines.
Fairly sure it's just a case of connect the 8 needed address lines, 8 data, Cas, Ras, OE, +5, GND, and ground the unused address lines for most, it only gets more complex when you're dealing with the >64K configurations.
That would be grand, sounds simple enough, though I wonder if I could pull it off without screwing everything up again.

What I thought I had was one of those devices that allow you to use your dead Atari as a Keyboard on your PC.
Anyone remember where to find those? I used to have the site book marked but lost the link.
So? Email Atardski and tell him it was a mistake and youll pay his relisting fee, but you dont want the piece of crap..
Its not worth $10.00, dude.. Its just a very ameteur-looking poorly made cable and some totally fuktarded software that he wrote, and that noone would ever want to use, except him.. He tried to peddle that crap on the AMIGA forums too, and we all told him where to shove it..
Metal: I'll give that a try, I'm just used to paying for my mistakes, but perhaps he's an understanding guy.
