why do people treat their games like garbage?
xg4bx replied to xg4bx's topic in Modern Console Discussion
personally i give gamestop another decade of life. i think digital downloads and "publishing on demand" are the future of gaming as well as the publishing industry. publishing on demand for games is just waiting for an enterprising entrepreneur to get their feet wet. what need would there be for gamestop when you insert an sd card into a kiosk and have any ds games yob want flashed to it or disc based media copied for you while you wait? kind of like those "red box" rental kiosks that are almost everywhere now. i believe it would help expand the popularity of gaming both overall and places where games aren't conveniently available. i believe game prices would drop drastically if the middleman was completely cut out. $60 for standard games vs as low as $20 for publishing on demand copies. i think its an idea waiting to happen. brick and mortar stores, especially those that deal in entertainment, are rapidly becoming obsolete. -
why do people treat their games like garbage?
xg4bx replied to xg4bx's topic in Modern Console Discussion
believe me, im not a fan of our policies, none of us are. if it were my business id be super strict. no case and no manual? no thanks. who wants to pay full price for a game with no instructions or no cover art? not me. what, do people throw them out? id bring back a system much like toys r us used to have where they had display art and you brought a ticket up to the register, no more of this opened copy crap. personally i think the amount of trade in credit given should be dependant on the condition of the game. and if possible, we should charge prices that are determined by the condition of the game, just like EVERY other hobby. you want a near mint used game? ok that'll cost you $55, the kinda beat copy is $25. i can't speak for any other store but my coworkers and i do our damndest to give customers the nicest copies on hand and were very strict on what we take in, stricter than company guidelines actually. if i wouldn't buy it, i wouldn't sell it to you. -
because youre an adult and still play videogames? anybody ever give you any funny looks or snide remarks?

pretty nifty. i agree, moving sucks. i moved april 1st and im STILL not completely unpacked. i need like a week off and the willpower to just get it done already.

thats awesome, i have hope for the future yet. just when i thought all teens were a.d.d. ravaged, online gaming headshot fanatics lol. sigh. im 31 but i feel so damn old lol.

i have t.c.m. and it didn't work on a jr but it worked fine on my sears heavy sixer and my atari 4 switch (dont know the slang for that one lol)

whats the maximum cartridge size (in terms of memory) possible on the 2600? could you theoretically make a game that ventures into meg/gig territory? keep in mind i know NOTHING about programming or tech, hence my silly question.

yup, thats it. thanks guys. now i can put it next to Earth No More in my mental "man, i wish that game came out" file.

it was announced and subsequently cancelled a few years ago. you were able to board yourself up in buildings and put together vehicles pieced together from other vehicles. the zombies were drawn to the darkness so you had to make sure you kept generators running and things like that. it had a big write-up in game informer 4-5 years ago. if somebody knows the name of this game it would be much appreciated.

The worst games of all time: My two cents
xg4bx replied to Segataritensoftii's topic in Classic Console Discussion
old wizards list sucks. i think that something that is considered "the worst" should be a retail release thats completely and totally broken from a technical standpoint ala big rigs, not "i just didn't like it so its the worst" stuff like e.t. or shaq-fu. -
thats gorgeous. unfortunately its a 'lil too rich for my blood right now but good luck on your sale.

PS3 Slim- why is no one talking about this?
xg4bx replied to godslabrat's topic in Sony Playstation 3
ill bet it will be unveiled at the tokyo game show this year. i think thats either september or october. i also respect sony for sticking to their guns. if i didn't already own a "next gen" console, id definitely get a ps3. they are very dependable overall and have been putting out a constant stream of rock-solid games for over a year (since mgs4 last june). they're quietly plunking away, releasing great games and upgrading their service and i respect them for that. -
i see games like tunnel runner and skeleton+ and im curious if a legitimate doom port has ever been attempted.

the simple fact that a Thing game is even being thought about, completely made my day.
-
the basic plot of the movie is a kid discovers sinister shenanigans at the local cemetery perpetrated by the "tall man". the tall man is harvesting the recent dead and sending them through an interdimensional gateway, located in the funeral home, where the bodies are transformed into small, dwarvish slaves. i don't think any purpose for this was given in the movie. its a series of 4 films but ive only seen the 1st one. in all honesty, the film isn't very well directed. but it has great music, interesting ideas and an overall creepy atmosphere. its a little campy but the general tone is kinda disturbing.

i forgot to add its a They Live based pac-man clone.

^more games!? sweet! any hints you could give as to what they may be? you should do a game based on The Thing (my favorite movie of all time) where you play as the thing and move around an arctic base, assimilating its inhabitants. or a pac-man clone where the power pill is replaced by the sunglasses and you can only eat certain enemies. god im such a nerd.

i work at gamestop (i know, i know) and some things that are traded in are mind-boggling. we got a damaged ps3 returned that smelled like cigar smoke (gee, i wonder why it broke), ds systems that look like they were literally dropped in dog turd, endless amounts of games that look like they were used as a hockey puck, etc. i just cant grasp the mentality of somebody who would pay $60-$400 for something then go home and destroy it. theres no excuse for games to get beat up like they do. unfortunately we kinda always have to accept them as trades. if i ran my own store, games with no instructions/no case and beat to hell=no thanks. we even get damaged ps3 games traded in. you literally have to TRY to damage a blu-ray. i just don't get it.

boo! at the 1-star reviews. im wondering if they cleaned out a warehouse or something.

he seems pretty adamant about no refunds. im off to go bid on the loose $99 missile command somebody linked the other day. wish me luck! -
do you think it would have rendered the nes d.o.a. or would it still would have failed due to the public seeing games like super mario that the 7800 simply couldn't compete with?
