  1. Looking forward to this one. I really enjoy reading the GG for the Lynx. Great production quality!
  2. There is a "bug" in this game that if you zig-zag constantly when having ball possession, the CPU cannot figure out how to get the ball including the goalie. This game is probably the least favorite in my collection, but I got this game the same year as the World Cup in 1994 and played the hell out of it during that cup. I tried to come up with a list of 5, but apparently I mainly have the good games of the Lynx.. can't think past Batman and World Class Soccer, and even these games gave me so much joy back in the days.
  3. Landed on the XPR, it got discounted to a 100 after I posted on here. I guess the announcement did the drop in price. Made me regret not getting this device earlier, so far I feel like this has been the nicest experience of playing retro games on a handheld in modern times. I love my analogue to play original carts, but having save states is amazing. Was hoping to find the Pico 1 Collection but looks like I am too late for that one.. only people selling them on ebay for $100-$200 :s
  4. It most certainly has it on the emulator.. maybe its different on real hardware? RNG behaving different because of that? I don't own the original game, so I can't check this.
  5. The randomness is a bit of a problem yes, especially at that jump for the pond. It took me probably 10 tries before I could get a run where ghosts weren't spawned in the middle of it.
  6. Ok I gave it a few more tries, even managed to jump across that pond though I think that part is utterly unfair. Its a fun game for sure but I am happy that I didn't buy this as a kid 37670 at round 5.. I'm probably skipping a lot of hidden bonuses.
  7. I give up.. I can't beat my own highscore or cross that bridge.. Pac-land is the Dark Souls of platformers
  8. You're correct, I forgot that I was drawing them behind the background sprite to get the desired behavior.
  9. Thanks for the clarification. So basically I should consider Capcom+ HDMI vs better battery life. Saw a deal for the XPR for 110 euro so I might just go for that
  10. Asking the experts.. I was thinking to get the EXP soon with the Capcom collection on the device but now they announced the EXP-R with Tomb Raider. EXP-R will not have the HDMI output nor access to the Capcom game, but would be a little cheaper. Is there any other difference to take into account? I believe the chipsets are pretty much the same? Tomb Raider will be on a cartridge so could be played on the EXP? Feels unnecessarily fractured from what I could understand.
  11. I'll probably get scolded for this approach, but I achieved this by writing a constant number of sprites and make sure to draw them off the screen when I don't need them. Not at all elegant but quite easy to implement.
  12. My scores: Pac-land: 21910... I died after this screenshot, what am I supposed to do here? The bridge doesn't seem to come back? Eggsavier Normal: 20 Eggsavier Virus: 93
  13. Played Pac-Land today pretty much for the first time.. not an easy game! At the forest part I tend to panic with the limited visibility.. Will submit a score soon though
  14. been super busy this year.. every time I think of grabbing my Lynx I end up doing development for it. I'll try the next round though, I have the Analogue Pocket with the Lynx adapter with me almost every day so I should be able to get something scored during lunch times!
  15. Will be joining GemTos this year as well, excited to meet up again! Please reserve a cart for me
  16. Final Fantasy Legend was brutal to play in my memories.. never got into that series as a kid. This looks like a great project to follow, though I'm a bit confused.. its a Gameboy JRPG released on Steam but no mention for an actual Gameboy release?
  17. This was one of my favorites of the LynxJam. Great use of the sprite art and overall fun gameplay. Could indeed be a bit more challenging at later stages.
  18. They sometimes pop up on this FB group: https://facebook.com/groups/lynxfans/
  19. Thanks for the offer, I might get back on this but currently the device is MIA. I gave it as a present to my friend 2 years ago and asked him recently if he still uses it because I wanted to try a few more things to make it more stable, but he said its somewhere in a box after moving. If he finds it back I will definitely give AmberElec a shot.
  20. I remember trying a few options that were suggested by the manual/online fora. The fact that none of them worked properly is not really a "you" issue and more of a poor documented mess that was highly discouraging. I looked back into the order and it was the RG351M, not the RG353M so I guess they fixed a lot of baby issues the past 2 years. Good to hear it works better now.
  21. I've bought the Abernic RG353M as a present for a friend who really wanted to play some retro games but is a bit a-technical, so I thought I'll do him a favor and load this device with a ton of games. After reading into countless reviews praising the device I can only say I was utterly disappointed by the overall experience of it. I installed whatever firmware was needed, the process felt sloppy and the result being some unstable (Android-based?) OS. Half of the time the device wouldn't boot up and required a reboot.. then trying to play some ROMs on the device.. definitely skip anything 32-bit, though it claims it can play it, the FPS is too low to enjoy the game. Sticking to the usual 8/16-bit emulators and still it would freeze up, corrupt save states and whatnot. The Retroflag GPi Case 2 using a Raspberry Pi Zero on the other hand.. flawless! I never had an issue with this device.. the OS is stable, I am using the first Pi Zero so I am not sure if later versions would run 32-bit emulators smoothly, but the first Pi Zero is at least capable of booting them up.
  22. I won the game Warhammer 40k: Boltgun for the Switch at ejagfest, first time I ever play a game related to this universe but I must say I love the game! Great atmosphere and gameplay, though it has nothing to do with all the strategic games out there.
  23. Thanks for putting all the effort into this, I really enjoyed participating when I had the time! No idea how to attract more players though, I think I saw you posting on FB but it probably made little difference. In terms of games, I enjoyed pretty much all of them, even Lexis to a certain extend!
  24. At least it has cheats to experience most parts of the game. The ending however is probably the biggest disappointment I ever had finishing a game Rygar, Switchblade II and Scrapyard Dog are much better platformers
