  1. One thing I can offer is I do have the actual chip plots used to make the dies for about 80 Atari chips, if anyone feels these could benefit them in reverse engineering please let me know. Its a big endeavor- most of these are anywhere from 4x4 feet to 6x6 feet and I have to take them to kinkos and run each layer through a large format scanner and get a high res images of each onto a thumb drive. It can start to be costly so let me know if this is something everyone would want, Ill get costing and maybe put up a go fund me page or something so this can be done.
  2. This new section is a little rough, Im still working on the CSS and template, then I will fully populate it, here is a link to the RDOS are: http://www.atarimuseum.com/archives/test/index.php?action=displaycat&catid=163
  3. The 800XL spec doesn't come out until later. You have to realize that the 600XL was meant as the replacement for the 400 and that is where the numbering is derived: The 600XL is to the 1200XL as the 400 is to the 800. However the 1200XL originally was meant to be the 1000X and the 600XL the 1000 as originally spec'd in the Sweet 16 document (again, note the codename schema: 1200XL/1200/1000X is Sweet-16, the 600XL/1000 is Crazy-8, again halving the number of the upper model even in its codename. Lastly, the reason the peripherals were the 1010, 1020, 1050...etc instead of the 1210, 1220, 1250, etc... is because the peripherals were originally slated for the original numbering of the 1200XL which was the 1000X It all starts to make sense after you understand the inner backgrounds of how the nomenclature was originated.
  4. I have the chip plot on PORKY, but not datasheets or background data for it.
  5. GTIA Schems I have all say 78 on them so it was definitely in the works and just not ready for primetime. I am taking all of my schematics this week to Kinkos to get high quality scans of them to post up as my previous postings were too fuzzy of the POKEY and GTIA. Sadly no, I do not have the ANTIC schematics, just the chip datasheets.
  6. Hi, There will be daily talks by notable individuals in the industry. There will be an exhibit area to see and in many cases, try systems out that are setup for use, while others are viewable only, there is a vendor area for people selling things to the retro community and then their is an open consignment area where anyone can sell/trade/buy things they bring to the show. You should come.
  7. You... ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
  8. I have RDOS(0.0) on disk and can post up if needed
  9. Thanks for all the hard work and sleuthing. Yes its my understanding that RDOS would give access to drives but youd need an RDOS disk in the drive with DUP on it if you wanted to access the menu.
  10. Sijmen, Regarding our discussing elsewhere about booting from $C000... Is there a .bin version of liteDOS that could be installed into an Eprom and offset to $C000 and loaded from a Newell RAMROD board?
  11. I've Asked Al Alcorn about them and he gave no explanation. I have 2 of them to date.
  12. These are all quite accurate. This is all from data I recovered from the Atari mainframe restores I did from 2005 through 2010. I found Mark's name in the files, contacted him around that time and sent over a zip with the files in an email to discuss with him, so I guess when he did the interview he provided the files to Kevin. I have the schematic hard copies of the electronics and topology designs for the network, it was pretty much what Apple used on its Mac's for Localtalk. On Muffy and Keri - I have a physical 800XLK system with a KERI chip on it and I have schmematics done in Aug through Oct 84 with Keri and Muffy on them and using an 8049 so the work had definitely been well underway. I think due to the money constraints the Tramiels were under, the scaled back things considerable on the new XL line and had to focus more on RBP which was the companies future.
  13. The MARIA is more akin to how arcade games are done, there is no relation to the TIA and Drac is correct, the GTIA is the evolution of the TIA, both figuratively and literally.
  14. Thanks guys, I've got some trimmer pots coming in and some fresh breadboards, I've cleaned off the entire audio section and I'm going directly from the 3 test points I have and I've wired 3 lines from it along with Analog GND and +5v that'll go to the breadboard and I'm going to spend some time working this through. I agree with Perry.... instead of running both Ch1 & Ch2, what I found was the volume increased substantially from the DAC when I combined the two lines. I went down as low a 4.7k on the resistor and while volume was improved, the gain and distortion was too high. Michael - did try your suggestion of the .1uf caps and I saw mixed results, but I haven't tried them in the scenario you propose... whats interesting if you essentially eliminating the opamp all together? Hmmmm... a 2222 Q? Okay, I'm game to try that, I don't think I have any of those in my parts box, so I'll get a couple sent in. I'd really like to get this wrapped up, run a couple of boards with the final designs and the cut & straps implemented and populate, make sure everything is working good and get these off to the dev's so I can then rework all of the components from through hole to SMD and be ready to have the PCB factory run and populate the boards, then I can just add in the remaining items by hand.
  15. When you compare games like Pac Man (Ms Pac Man) Centipede, Dig Dug and several others, the 7800 clearly has better graphics and with the pokey is toe to toe on par sound wise to the 5200/800... but the 7800 graphics are definitely better.
  16. FYI... Still tweaking on the Opamp section.... I get the pokey onboard all smooth, then the gain in the external pokey is off, I get them working together, then I loose the volume on the Yamaha, I get the Yamaha working but the gain sounds aweful.... so sorry about the long quiet period, just been going around a bit on this trying to get everyone playing nicely on the share audio line... Taking a step back tonight, gonna clear off everything, move the DAC up to a breadboard and try to isolate things a little better, also I notice if I just combine Ch1 and Ch2 together into 1 connecting resistor the volume increases substantially. If I didn't have so many 3012's I'd switch the the 3014's instead.
  17. Thanks!!! I will post up and credit you.
  18. Hi Allan, I found my microtek board and manual, so I updated, but if I hadnt I wouldve used yours and definitely a big thank you for posting.
  19. Yes Option works fine on Omnimon but not is working on RomDos On Omnimon, Ill double check the rom I posted, I just dumped the 8k Omnimon last night so Ill be sure to get the correct one posted up.
  20. Hi, Does anyone have the manual or information on RDOS (ROMDOS) which is a ROM based very early version of MYDOS. It resides at $C000 and I have it installed in a RAMROD, but I don't know how to activate it. I've tried booting up with it installed and nothing is happening, I've tried holding OPTION and SELECT but its not doing anything. Any help would be appreciated. The ROM image is up on my Newell RAMROD page: http://www.atarimuseum.com/computers/8BITS/3rdparty/ExpansionBoards/OS/Newell/index.htm
  21. Letter Perfect, DataPerfect, SynCalc and SynTrend work with the Bit-3. DOS and any Gr.0 program works with it. I had heard a version of Visicalc supports it, but I don't have a diskette that is a Bit-3 version.
  22. Hi Allan, Just copied your Microtek and Intec stuff, putting it into Atari Museums 400/800 3rd party expansions sections, will credit you for the items.
  23. Heck, people wont believe what a presence there is going to be, 400/800 represented, XLs represented, XEs represented and the ST through Falcons, then the icing on the cake... Lorraine, its gonna be like an Atari convention inside the VCF show- I hope as many people as possible can come by to say hi to everyone, this is truly going to be epic for sure...
  24. Im coming up on the last week of completing the update to the 400/800 section of Atarimuseum.com Ill be redoing the entire XL section next which will include a full update of the 1090 section. Schematics, mechanicals, etc BTW the 1090 used the 1027 power supply.
