    Yes, I already did that, but moved since then. It may be confusing if submitting more then once...

    You can always mention that in your submission

    I'm really busy at work right now, so don't have much time to play with this, but I'll post a little something.  A while back I created some XM versions of Bob's Pac-man games.  These are 48k roms that contain both the TIA and POKEY sound code.  They check for the XM POKEY and will use it if present, or they default to the TIA sound.  Here's a little video of Ms. Pac-man 320. Sorry about the poor video.  I was holding my phone with one hand and working the joystick with the other. :)

    This is exactly what I am hoping coders do is make games with both TIA and POKEY and when they see the POKEY in the XM they switch automatically to POKEY audio. This is great Perry!

    Sorry; I should have been more clear. The paddles require value sampling many, many times each frame to work smoothly, which takes up CPU time that could be used for game logic or a more complex display. I believe the POKEY is supposed to be able to perform this function to free up CPU time for paddle games. From the POKEY Wikipedia page:

    Mind you, I don't know if there are any games that actually make use of this, but in the future if the XM were in the hands of many gamers, new games could presumably make use of this capability.

    I never intended to breakout the paddle signals off the Pokey/PokeyMax...  just the PIA has breakouts around it.

    if someone is going to want to use the Pokey paddles that means having to hardwire in controllers and some work inside.

    i think just using the front controller ports and using the TIA might be the best route but hey, I’ve marked every connection on the board and I see no reason why people can experiment and try ideas out.

    If at all possible I would really like a real pokey on my XM if you could please.

    You were one of the very early orders, I’ve got a good supply of POKEYs so pretty much most of the PreOrders will come with the old Atari made chips vs the new FPGAs

    Proof or it didn't happen! Just kidding. Glad to hear that, Curt. Thanks for all of your hard work on this project. When do you anticipate sales of the XM will go live to the general public, as in, non-preorders? Will it be for sale in the AtariAge Store or elsewhere. Cheers.

    It'll be a bit, I'll do these in 20-25 pc batches to get the pre-orders out.    Then I'll prepare units and can sell them going forward.

    I look forward to a video or two demonstrating it.

    Let Bob, Perry, Mitch and others post photo's and video's of theirs, this way people can see other people kicking the tires.

    "XM has shipped" is a misleading thread title.  Should be more like, the first assembled one (that might work), has shipped to a single person.

    XM = Expansion Module

    Shipped = it was shipped to Perry and he has it.

    Title matches what occurred... but thanks for your input.

    So is the unit you sent him using the final BIOS that will ship to the masses? Congats on getting that first one out the door. Probably starting to feel pretty good that the finish line is in sight.  Print off a couple hundred PCBs that will have most the component work done at the factory and then they should start flying out the door.

    Hi Shawn,

         The Dev's are getting the last of the deep test BIOS, so it has all of the standard control functions but has all of the deep tests still in it and the plain menu, nothing fancing.  The End User version is going to have all of the deep tests removed and have a more user friendly menu and an embedded game since there is plenty of extra room.

        Thats what I'm gonna shoot for is having all of the SMD stuff on the board and just I'll add on the PTH components, this will make things much easier for me.  I've been doing a lot of fine SMD work by hand, its been fun, but I sure as heck would'nt want to do this a couple hundred times LOL!

    I remember reading about the original boxes for these won't come with the xm. I was thinking that it would still be neat to get the box just for the ones who have been on the preorder list. I fear that getting a new box made could take years to get done if at all. Unless you already have something cooked up. Just my 2 cents. Really excited to see this getting done, looks great!

    Boxes will ship later, people want their systems, so to cut down on any additional time, I'll worry about the boxes afterwards and send those out to everyone.  I just want to get people their XM's, they've waited long enough between all of my health issues and development hurdles, so IMHO I think this is the best way to go just so people finally get their XM's and then the extra's that'll wind up on a shelf, in a closet or such can come later.

    The units are finally shipping this week? Where do I go to update my address?

    If you pre-ordered 7800xm.com

    These first 5 are going to developers, will start shipping out units to everyone else in batches of 10-20 at a time, you'll be contacted before hand for final shipping verification, names will be listed of who's units are shipping in each batch posted here and on the 7800 expansion module group on FB as well.

  11. Booting up of the 1st production shipping 7800XM, has the basic functionality on it just to show it booting and working in both 2600 and 7800 mode.   This particular one is going to PacManPlus (Bob) and another to Perry Thuente next week and the other 3 are going to Mitch Orman, RevEng and Mark Ball so that they can start developing games for the XM and also to heavily stress test them.   These I'm just hand building to make sure everything is good before I move to mass building.   But lo and behold, the shipments are starting.   As I ship (as Jinx suggested) I'll post up who's orders are shipping out, please don't start PM'ing me asking when yours is going out, I'll be contacting everyone, so when I contact you, yours is shipping.

    When you do have the next batch ready can you always post who it is going out to in this topic just like you did with the fantastic four?

    I actually think that would be a great idea, then people will see who's receiving theirs and know theirs are on the way and it lets every know whats happening.  Thanks Jinks!

  13. These are truly beautiful !!!   Okay,

       First batches going to:

    @PacManPlus

    @tep392

    @Mitch

    @RevEng

    and of Course Mark over in the UK...    This'll give some key people a chance to start coding on the real hardware and go deeper into compatibility testing as well, just to be certain.   Mark is finishing up the End User version of the built in BIOS and feature selection settings and some other things.    I'll get to work getting the 2nd batch of boards ready and start preparing emails to the 1st pre-order people...

    This is a continuation of one of Atari, SA's lawsuits, and has nothing to do with @Curt Vendel's source (unless Target brings a new suit, but I doubt that).

    Nope... this is brandy spanking new one.

    BTW, I was subpoenaed as a witness to help Hyperkin against FauxTari...

    I gladly overnighted 2.3Gbs of data to their lawyer 😁

  15. So, just how pissed off do you think Walmart would be if Atari was hit was a restraining order in the next several days?  (Not that some little birdy didn't just let me know via TacoMail that Atari is being smashed on the head with a lawsuit & restraining order this week...)

    Just being "hypothetical" with my question :roll:

    Anybody with Atari stock, you may want to put in your sell orders VERY early Monday morning...
