Hey RJ
There is a local guy in the area (Ross Mackie) that would do a cap kit for you at a reasonable price. I have had him do many of my repairs that were out of my league and have always been very happy with the results and price. Send me a PM and I can give you his contact info. BTW - Congrats on the Xevious, if it is the one I think it is then it was in pretty good shape cosmetically. Now you just need a Star Wars next to it and your set

First, that is awesome.
2nd: Your monitor needs a cap-kit. And before I drone on about it... I'm just gonna second Crazy Climber's post. Also, get a manual if you don't have one already and find out the make of that monitor. I don't know how much experience you have with arcade machines--and I'm sure you already know all about this but be careful when you're monkeying around in the cab not to mess with the neckboard or get zapped.
Are you in MN, too?

The binary that is out there produces an incorrect frame during the title screen (240 scanlines, with 5 scanline VSYNC pulse) so you're likely to get rolling on a newer television, or possibly no video at all.
Cool. +1 for the speedy reply and tip.
I think I have a way to dump my current cart's ROM so that might potentially fix it. -
I've had one in a sale thread for $25 shipped for a week, guess that is high? I just went by closed auction prices.
It might be a little high for all of us bargain-basement pickers/hunters but it's probably worth it. I know there is a large variety of collectors here... so it's worth a shot. *shrug* If you're just lookin' to unload it I'd drop the price to $20 shipped and let her go... If it were me which it's not.

Is bumping a thread to compete bad form? In the case of reminding someone you have it for cheaper I don't think it is...
-
First off, this belongs in the auction section.
Second, there is no such thing as a tempting price on an item with 3 days left, unless there is a BIN. Auction prices are made in the last 10 seconds.
Perhaps it should have been posted elsewhere but... Whoa! Cool your heels, Ted. Wasn't tryin' to get yer boots... dusty.
And the word was piece, my man. Not price.

I enjoy seeing all of the threads people post here about eBay and I'm not particular whether it's in auction or not. But if it annoys you that much, maybe an admin would be so kind as to pop it into the Auction thread so we don't ruffle any more feathers.

Is there a bad Planet of Zoom bin out there or has someone else possibly seen this?
When I used my Harmony cart for the first time last night to play a bin of a game I already own: Buck Rogers and the Planet of Zoom, the ROM loaded and then I saw this:

Once into the game it appears to work alright.
I was also playing on my 7800. So I was thinking this might be a game that plays better on the 2600.
Anyway, if anyone has experience with this issue--I'd appreciate advice!

I think Pac-Man has been hacked and is available as a ROM, which can be burned to an EEPROM for a fee, the Pac Man Collection still being worked on. The question on whether the it would work on the 7800XM unmodified, hasn't been answered via actual tests, I don't think, but is assumed they probably would, some unpredictable oddities not withstanding.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone decided to release the "Ultimate Pac-Man Collection." Maybe Super Pac-Man could be added and the Pokey sound upgrade. I'd pay $50 for that.

This is the best Marketplace thread ever. Is there a "Hall of Fame" Forum? On another board I'm on, we have a "Hall of Fame" where people can copy and paste the greatest quotes, and threads like this one.

Is there an ETA of this fantabulous device?

That's not Donkey Kong.. that's Donkey Kong Circus.
I've had that game since I was a kid and it's more like a "ball" type of juggling game than anything and it was never one of my favorites. Probably a good piece for a collection though.

Huh cool. Is it backlit then?
-
This is just so cool I had to share. It's a very tempting piece.

Any chance there will be another batch of these someday?
Nope, but the H2 (Harmony cart 2) is coming,

Soon?

I get my Harmony cart this week. Will I be able to test the ROM on that?Nope! Harmony is for 2600 games only. You'll need a CC2 for the 7800.
Well dagnabbit.
Does the CC2 work with 2600 games?Yes. But you're going to pay through the nose for one ($400++). You're better off waiting until batari finishes the Harmony2 which will do everything the CC2 does.
*shuffle* Oh alright.

I'm guessing that nobody found any big issues? Or is nobody playing it?

I really wish there was some sort of MIDI->Pokey data conversion program as I have the "Entry Of The Gladiators" MIDI file that I would like to use for the background music...
I have looked up the file layout for MIDI, and I can probably write a conversion program for standard notes, but it would take just as long...

To go a step beyond the power mod, would it be possible for me to just apply 12V or 9V DC or whatever the thing requires to a couple points on the motherboard? That would save me some effort & time modding a system that may not work. Otherwise, I'll probably go ahead with a power mod and see what I get.
How common is it for the controller ports on these units to go bad? I could hold off on the controller for a bit if I can reasonably assume that the ports work. I'm pretty poor

I recommend the goat store for 5200 controllers. I just got 2 and they are in great shape. They'll likely need rebuilds--but it's a start. And at $5/ea. You really can't go wrong.

Quick question - are the numbers on the number pads on your controllers gold? Does that mean they are the gold rebuilts from Best?
I had an email convo with Brad recently and he was asking me if the numbers on my controller were yellow or gold - I didn't know what to say, what is yellow to one is gold to another. <shrug> But I know my controller does not look like that. Those definitely look gold to me, so if that's gold, then mine is definitely yellow.
Thanks for any help.

P.S. Don't go getting rid of anything you think you'll regret getting rid of and struggling to get back at some point in the future.
Yes, they are gold! And yes, they are from Best.
I'm also going to be adding a track ball (needs work) and two additional controllers that were not pictured. But it's hard to sell large lots like this right now. I've been watching Eight Bit trying to dump his stuff and without parting it out, I don't think it will do very well.
I'm waffling a bit on selling the stuff but really I'd like it to be in someone's home who will give it the proper care it deserves.
I of course will consider trades and I'm always looking for homebrew cartridges. I've got a lot of systems and not so much time to give them all the appropriate attention.

Simplified controllers!?!
I think the 7800 controllers are much worse than the...
J/K

Heheh. Too bad they didn't ship the thing with the CX78 joypads the Europeans all got.
I have a set of those and they aren't half bad.

Yet another set of Adam controllers Yurkified.

That's what I'm doing - Al's bringing me a copy if it (and all the other 7800 games) next weekend when he's in town for the Houston Arcade Expo.
Just bought it. And I bought a copy of Stella's Stocking based on a post you made a little bit ago. I watched a video on YouTube of it and that cart is brilliant!

I'll echo in agreement once again... I like that one best too.I think the current title description is to make a point that AA isn't a democracy. Point taken... but I like the description jaybird3rd noted.
It seems that our wish has been granted!
Thanks, Albert!
Totally! Thanks, Albert!

ALL RIGHT!!! You guys got your wish, and the description of the 7800 has been changed.I liked the old description, didn't necessarily care whether or not it was "accurate" nor see the relevance of the criticism, and was just glad the forum was provided.
Old news ... that description was changed two months ago.
I didn't have any particular problem with the old description, but I'd still like it better if one of the new suggestions (such as my most recent one) were used instead. No need for the 7800 forum to be stuck with an unusually terse description just because a few persnickety individuals couldn't agree on which console was released first, or on what was done by whom in response to what.

So I started watching all of the Simon & Simon episodes avaialable on Netflix streaming (Seasons 1-4) and Season 1 Episode 2 features an "Arcade" with several AWESOME shots of SPACE FURY. There is a Venture machine right next to it, a Pac-Man in fabulous condition and a Battlezone.
Just an FYI if there are any other S&S fans out there... It was pretty fun to see.
-
By all means please go for it. I've spent too much money this week!
No, you take it... I've spent too much money this week!

- Pooyan by CollectorVision $60
- Smurf Controller by Yurkie $79
- Coleco Perman Power Battery Pack $15.50
and on, and on. Thankfully I have a storage cabinet with a lock on it so I can hide all this stuff from the old lady.

I bought Pooyan too.
Surprisingly fun and difficult. I like the Famicom version but the CV one is totally awesome. And a Harmony Cart. $65
Two huge lots of ColecoVision carts totalling more than $100...
Argh. One of us should do it. *off to eBay again to look*
OK, it's in my sights...
