  1. OK, I understand this project is about "trying to make those things happen at last" since otherwise what is the point of such a module? True 7800 coders (not me of course) will stick to basic machine and will continue to uncover hidden performance over there. Did 128k RAM improve ZX Spectrum games? Since the basic video chip ULA was not changed, the difference was hardly noticable. They just used extra RAM to store a bunch of images and musical data... but can't also the 16k Spectrum stream the data from user port? Of course it can...

Why does one climb a mountain?

Philosophically, it really doesn't matter why he's making it... only that he's making it. *shrug* Coders can still do what they want.

  2. coupon coupon oh where is the coupon...

:( Sorry, couldn't find it again. I must have mistaken the "How it Works" coupon in the magazine. At any rate, they do run specials from time to time. I'll keep my eyes open. If I find one I'll be sure and post.

  7. Have you tried changing to another channel on the TV and then changing back while the 7800 is on?

I have some older games that seem to loose the signal if power-cycled but work just fine if I change the channel then change it back, or even turn off the TV then turn it back on.

As Bruce Tomlin suggested above LCD TV can be finicky about the incoming signal, newer TVs seem to automatically adjust the channel according to the signal, and sometimes they get it wrong.

Yeah, come to think of it, I've tried the channel up and then down again and that sometimes corrects the signal too.

  8. It's moddin' time! myico.png

If you have the means, I'd suggest pickin' up a spare 7800 for use with that gigantumous TV you want to run yer games on. ;) Then (if it were me) I'd take that spare and mod it for composite or component out.

  9. Anyone know about how much the 4 slot motherboard goes for or are those just super common too? LOL!

I have one. I got it in a lot of Vic20 stuff awhile back. Think I paid $20 for that set of junk. The demand for the stuff you discovered is not that high. Also, if you haven't tested the RAM carts, you should. They're not as reliable as the regular carts for some reason.

Whether you agree or not, everyone here is part of this community... it's been my experience they--we--don't try to screw each other over.

  10. Yeah I pretty much screwed up big time here. I was looking on eBay for a frame of reference and loose carts were selling for around $29-50 and one went unsold for $29. That coupled with the NIB one I bought 2 or 3 years for $110, I figured that the case would be worth like $650 so I put a $500 pricetag on them to sell fast.

Tho I did still make a huge profit. I frequent estate sales (or wake sales) for finds like this... people squirrel away a lot of different items before they die.

Now I'm feeling sick to my stomach after everyone has now informed me of the true value... I'm shorted myself $1500-$2000... I want to puke. :dunce:

You made someone happy. You made you happy with $500 you didn't have til just now.

I'd say you did alright. Living and learning is better than the alternative.
