  1. Okay then, the game now makes sense to me.You guys are right, this game is a blast, now that i understand what the heck is going on, i can enjoy it.So far i've gotten to the Space Bar. :o That's something i really didn't expect!!!I can't wait to see what else is in this game!!

It just starts recycling the screens from there, but gets harder and faster! If you are playing on skill level 1, give a harder skill level a chance. If you want all out hell on wheels, choose skill level 4.

So far I've reached just under 95,000 on skill 1.This game is truly addicting!

As everyone stated, this is one of the best games on the ColecoVision. The only thing I don't like is when the guy comes and shakes the can. You cannot tell on the CV version where it is. It's just completely random.

  2. Since my son is born, I'm not smoking at my place anymore, I'm also trying to quit smoking too :)

    So yes, smoking free house

Excellent for the health of your son and your own health, too. Plus think about all that money you can save by not buying smokes. You can spend it on diapers and more video games.

Yep, I was smoking around 40 cigarettes per day .... I'm now at 15 per day

I hope to achieve my goal this year, and quit that damn poison for good

    Good Luck J-F. :)

I quit for good back in 2003.

  3. My Ax Boc arrived.

Thanks, Ax. :) That was fun.

Wow! A Polaroid - does it work?

It's funny. I already had a polaroid. They both would work except they don't make Polaroid film anymore. The film is actually what powers the camera since the battery is built into the film cartridges.

You can get polaroid film on eBay but it's ridiculously priced and in extremely high demand.

  4. No offense taken... when I saw the machine's pic I was puzzled. It was so old yet looked really nice. It was well preserved over the years and I agree, if there's someone out there who wants this, I think it would be a fine addition to a collection. I wanted to see some type of gameplay shots though.

The seller did say it is operational so that's a bonus. :) I was thinking of going to check it out in person... only as a curiosity (if the seller is relatively close) but the temps are -30 celsius the last couple of days so I'm staying in. lol

Heheh. Colder than Minneapolis! Be careful: First you look and the next thing you know you have your checkbook out. :D That's how I got my Robotron.

  5. this accessory doesnt seem to work

how to clean it to make it work?

are there specific to look for to repair?

There are 2 optical sensors one for horizontal movement and another for Vertical. These sensors seem to either work 100% or not at all.

I am not sure if new replacement sensors are available.

You could just get a brand new one from here:

I've bought several games from him including one of these Roller Controllers and all of my transactions have been good. He has an overstock of Roller Controllers that were water damaged. The boxes are in rough shape but the controllers and games inside are unscathed and perfect.

  6. I've come across this and I don't recall seeing one before... it may just be before my time but I thought I've seen a ton of stuff. Anyway, what's something like this worth? Is it any good? I'm googling but just thought I would share with everyone...

KLOV may be a better place to answer this. And, no offense to anyone here... they're going to be the audience that is better suited to have an opinion on Arcade collecting. Even from that small photo I can tell that machine is in excellent condition. And of course, the answer to these questions is always, "It depends on your buyer."

It's really cool. Thanks for sharing. I'm pretty into Arcade games (I own Tron, Robotron, Solar Fox, Ms. Pac-Man and GP Monaco)--I've never seen one of these up close. Pretty cool.

  7. Guess I'll keep it for a project for a while longer. It would be cool to make a little famicom arcade machine. If/when :D

    AX

It really is quite cool... just for the game cart alone. Personally, I'd junk the controller though. The light gun is somewhat useless and they tend to burn out and break very quickly. You might save the nub for a real N64 controller. Just get a real Famicom or cheap toaster NES with an adapter to build your project. ;-)

  8. Anyone who didn't send gifts should be publicly outed. If they are goong to rip people off in secret Santa, then they'll do it in the marketplace as well. Plus, they should be publicly shamed just on general principle.

    Chris

I will publicly out myself. I did not send out my gift to my SS in time because I was waiting for items I purchased online to arrive. I didn't own anything that really fit what my person was into, so I hunted some stuff down.

When some of the items I purchased didn't arrive before I went away on vacation, I knew there was going to be a problem. Sure enough, when I got back, they were waiting for me in my mailbox. I got them out as quick as I could.

Maybe I should have taken care of it sooner, but it's not like I was trying to rip anyone off and I think it's wrong for people to just assume the worst in others. Sometimes things happen and things get delayed. I just wanted to throw that out, for what it's worth. But, if a public shaming would help:

SHAME ON ME! I'M SCUM! I SUCK! :(

It's nice to have someone say "I'm runnin' late." And I think we're all OK with that. (I know I'm not supposed to be reading this thread. I said I wasn't gonna. But I can't help it.)

Anyway, don't feel shamed. If you eventually follow through--that's better than not!

:) Dude. You must chill. I HAVE HIDDEN YOUR KEYS!!!

  9. If this is the Power Joy version I think it is, that cartridge is a Famicom cart. You can use a Famicom to NES adapter and play the cart natively on an NES.

  10. Star Castle the arcade game gets an A and so does the Vectrex version. Everything is too slow in Star Fortress.

I think Tutankham deserves only a "C" too.

The graphics are good, but the movement of the sprites is choppy. This game could have been done better.

  11. Yeah, I got my bezel from Best Electronics as well. It's a fairly easy install, though you might have to press down on some edges with a blunt edge to ensure proper fitment.

    Thanks everyone for this thread!

I just ordered two bezels from Best! My main unit actually had the plastic on it when I bought it, but it had been dented previously. My other 7800 is pretty banged up and this will make it look brand-spankin' new!

Heh. I also ordered the Tempest 2000 soundtrack he has on his site.

  12. Nice work on the reviews. I mostly agree with them. Though I think Star Wars probably deserves a better rating because at the time only it and the C64 were able to even come close to the arcade version.

Spy Hunter rocks. The music is actually better than the arcade in that it plays the entire song throughout. The real arcade played only snippets of Peter Gunn when you first started and would go silent and only restart when the truck dropped you off after an upgrade.

    ColecoVision Console

Drives me crazy with sprite problems

    C

If you have any desire whatsoever to have that problem fixed, your switch is probably at fault. Yurkie offers a repair service for this (as I'm sure you're well aware) and it will work like new with no sprite problems when he's done. I have actually replaced the switches on 2 of my CVs with industrial switches from Ax-Man... a local gadget/odds-and-ends shop here in town.
