  1. Sealed box games are generally more desired, so more valuable. If you don't intend to play the games, keep them in their boxes. If you DO intend to play the games... then keep the boxes and papers in a safe place, and store the carts in a dust free area where you can get at them for play.

  2. If you want to work in 2600 development, I would definetly not recommend it as a start. The machine is very primative, and as such requires a great deal of programming experience and knowledge.

Any version of windows is compatable with the DASM compiler.

I am using WinXP but I never tried to use a graphics hack program so I can't tell you if that is the problem or not.

There is a new hack program called Hack-O-Matic and it uses a windows GUI interface... that should work better for you.

  3. Ha ha ha ha!!!!

I bought a no tools required BBQ a few years back... and it had a Logo/Temperature Gauge that goes on the front of the lid.

The instructions said... ***BONUS*** Special Tempurature Feature (Tool required)

    Ha ha ha ha!!!!!

    Bonus.... Special Feature.... hogwash.

  4. WOW!  I never knew it was SO easy!  Shoot!  I think I'll brew up a couple of games before bed!  I just happen to have ALL of those things!    :D  :D

But I wanna SEE these people on the TV, not just read about it!

And why does Atariage rate a link at the bottom of the page?  I mean, yeah they are linked in the story, but would it have KILLED these people to include a second link at the bottom?

Ah ha ha... yeah in the TV spot they didn't mention it was easy :-) and AtariAge got a big push from the TV spot, when they zoomed in on the AtariAge emulators page and mentioned you can buy new homebrew games from AtariAge for around $25.

  5. It was a segment on TechLive about Atari 2600 homebrewing... it was basically just an interview with Mike and his opinions on everything... I doubt it will be re-run as it is a live news show, but the link NE gave pretty much sums it up...

You will never believe how suprised I was when I was flipping channels and saw SCSICide on TV :-)

  6. Cool interview on TechTV Mike about Beserk VE and the whole home brew scene in general... :-) I could have done better but you'll have to do...

    :D :D :D :D :D :D

It was also cool to see SCSICide explained and demonstrated on TV :-) I'm unbelievably jelous.

  7. If you want any help with some simple recoding I will assist... I enjoy hacks that bring the game closer to the original.

It would probably not be hard to draw in the pot under the girl with some simple recoding... however the slope in the boulder level would be more challenging... but it may be worth looking in to.

  8. I think the newer consoles are sold at a loss and they get their money back with software sales.  The most expensive cart I've ever seen purchased new for the 2600 was when my uncle splurged and plopped down $40 for Dig Dug back in the early 80's.  But that seemed more of an exception than a rule.

    Voch

They are sold for a significant loss... Micro$ofts last report was they were losing $149 per XBox unit sold. That is quite a bit considering the volume of units sold.

  9. You obviously forget the 1-900 revolution of the mid 80's... EVERYTHING was 1-900... "Call and talk to Robocop $0.99 a minute!", "Call and hear a joke!", "Talk to New kids on the block!"

And lets not forget Nintendo making their games so rediculously difficult to find stuff, that you had to either subscribe to Nintendo Power, or call their 1-900 number :-)

  10. Space shuttle is possible I think :-) It must be :-) It has to be!!!!!!

As for Skeleton... I don't know :-) playing legit I can get to level 3, but when the Skelly's take a ton of hits to kill, and move fast as a bullet it gets a little crazy...

If you could move backwards and still face forwards, as long as you don't back into a corner, killing the bigger skellys would be easier.

  11. Do I win a prize?

:-) Where's my Eric Ball Koozie!!!! ha ha ha

    ***********

Link provided to prevent spoiler to those whom don't want to see the end screen

    ***********

I have to admit though, it was hard to find :-) I chose not to look at the code per Stan's request, so I just studied the RAM patterns a while and figured out how to make the screen come up :-)

Very tricky way to progress levels by the way, :-) had me going for quite a while!!!

    :-)

    **********************************

    Do it yourself, ruin skeleon....

In PCAE debugger, change the following RAM locations to new values

    B2->80 ( Level 8 )

B3->1C (One more skelly to end level)

A4->00 (Skelly takes one hit to kill)

Find and kill one skelly to see the screen :-) Sorry Eric... :D :D :D I had some spare time :-)

  12. I havn't given much thought to how I would want them to be selected... but I don't think you would have the choice to turn off the cheats. If you could do that, they would be repro carts of Activision titles, and I'd be in trouble :-)

As it is, making cheaters carts with their titles may not be so wise, so we'll wait on that.

    And...

Yes :-) I was extatic when I saw those Commander screens a few months ago, but that doesn't nearly compare to the joy you get when you see it on your own TV screen, after 6 of your own dockings :-D
