2600 PacMan is not that horrible. Yes, it was marketed as the home version of the arcade hit, which it is far from (What kind of vitamins are those anyway?) But it plays just fine, and was definetly in my cart rotation as a kid. I wanna know when this thread is going to devolve into a rant about the posted images being too big... :-) Now we have to scroll!!!! Oh the humanity!!!

Writing another role-playing game for the ATARI
Cupcakus replied to Lord-Chaos's topic in Atari 2600
I doubt it :-) You'd be surprised how quickly 8k gets swallowed up. I look forward to updates on your project! -
PCAE can emulate Pit2 as well.

Does any other console show the same advancement...?
Cupcakus replied to Room 34's topic in Atari 2600
The GBA has come a great distance from it's early days... The NES however evolved arguably as much as the 2600. The variation from Duck Hunt to Epic RPG's was a massive undertaking. But the 2600 really had the best potential to see improvement. The software market was huge and fierce. Companies were forced to spend extra money on development to find new ways to trick the system into doing bigger and better things in an attempt to outstep their opponents. And some developers were just plain damn genious, Doug Neubauer and Solaris was really the pinacle. Bankswitching and SARA Superchip are prime examples IMHO... -
Now I'm so bummed :-( I really thought I was the first to use the AA logo. First released will have to do :-) What is also amazing is that my logo came out so similar to yours even though I had no knowledge of it. Even the same color :-)

I'm pleased to announce that Kablamo! should be released ahead of my stated December release date. There is very very little left to be done before I post it for testing. If anyone has any comments or suggestions before I release it this is probably your last chance to get them in :-) And as I stated before those who preordered the game expecting it to be released earlier this year will be compensated for their patience somehow, I promise :-) Expected to be released for testing before Halloween!

A day or two early :-)... It'll be on IRC in a week :-) Silly pirates

Flash cart should be available early next year... As soon as Kablamo is finished I can complete my work on it. The most humerous thing about it is there was sooo much pressure when I was designing the device that with my time frame I simply had to drop the project... I couldn't compete. Superior devices like DaVinci, and less expensive devices that others were making with comperable features... as well as Chad stating he was going to rerelease the Cuttle Cart I couldn't compete. Now, nearly a year later with the exception of the CCII everyone else has dissapeared... Kablamo will go into release cantidate near Halloween I hope as soon as it does I will finish up the Flash Cart.

Ha ha... That "4" looks mightally suspicious... You own the physical box? Why does the four look modified? Hoax IMHO.

Imagine if in 10 years you have the only Thrust+ that hasn't died from bit rot, you could sell it for tons! So it's only a bad investment if yours is the first to go :-)
-
Thanks for the support everyone.. I will in-fact be finishing Kablamo! first. I will post an update to my website Tonight or tommorrow with new screens and updated info on my current and future plans.

AA Sells the adapter... It's probably a better bet than dealing with RadioCrap :-)

Wonderful search feature ... http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20155 This one too :-) http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20288

Has this been defeated yet? Or am I still the reigning champion? :-)

No, AFAIK that is Paul Slocum's RPG game you are thinking of. Quest was a 2600 version of a discontinued Ravensburger board game of the same name. My inspiration to write it was given to me by the fact no one really wanted to play the board game when I had it, as the rules really put player againsed player in a match up that usually ended in hurt feelings. However I realised that PvP video games seem to bring people closer and it seemed a better fit for a video game then a board game. However my ideas for mini-games and other unique features (4 Player multi-tap support/Vibrating Controllers) are too much for me to handle with my new schedule, and I lost the source :-( grrrr... So this one is kaput. http://qotile.net/rpg.html <-- Paul's game

New Jobs, New Homes, & New Children finally subsided I feel it's time for my triumphant return to the AA community. So much wonderful stuff has happened here and at home in the past few months. I know this isn't the first time I've attempted to return, but I'm absolutely sure I'm ready this time. My scincere apoligies to AA, Al, and all of those who preordered Kablamo!. When it is finally released I will make sure all who preordered and had to be refunded are properly compensated with something "special". A great misfortune is while I have found my insanely complicated schematics and drawings for the 2600 In A Flash project, I've lost my train of thought on it, and I will have to take several steps back to make progress on it. I want to take things quite a bit slower this time... I simply don't have the free time for three projects at once. So here is the new schedule. Quest: Has been dropped... I lost the source, and I know for a fact if I start an over ambitious project like this again I will end up never finishing it and I will dissapoint yet again. Kablamo!: Is right where I left it, nearly finished. I could probably have a release cantidate in a month or so. Flash Cart: Thoroughly frustrating, but still the project I want to finish the most. So my question to the masses: Should I complete Kablamo! first, or complete the flash cart. I am not able to work on both at the same time anymore... So only one project at a time can occupy my limited free time. Your Choice! It's good to be back, I will try not to dissapoint.... Yet Again.... --Chris Larkin

I could use these for the 100 flash cart shells I need.... But I won't get in a bid war with AA :-)

To be fair, the major delays are not because the software is very buggy... Yes there is still a big bug in the software, but I have had ample time to correct it, and definetly should have had it out the door by PC4 as promised. New jobs can do things like that to you for a while :-) But rest assured... Kablamo! will be as bug free as I can make it :-) I have put off Quest and the Multitap until further notice... I just don't have the time to dedicate to those projects like I used too. Quest is a far too ambitious project for my busy schedule to handle. I do have another Homebrew in my cranium that I will bring to light as soon as my other two projects are done. The original MultiTap design was supposed to handle four player control simultaniously, but I never got it out of my first initial tests. I may pick this back up in the near future. The flash cart is still at the last phase I posted on my web site... I havn't touched it sense... As soon as Kablamo! is out the door, I will resume work on the flash cart and finally get it finished as well. At last check I was having major problems programming the CPLD chips, as they are ISP and I didn't have room on my cartridge board to fit the programming connectors. Thanks again everyone!

It's nice to see there are some people interested in this project! I am BACK! major huge apologies to everyone, and AA for my delays on this project. Lots of promises broken in the past couple months with my 2600 works, I hope to mend some ties in the coming weeks. Kablamo! is nearly completely done. I just have to track down one more bug, and send it off to Al for testing. If you have any questions about the project or my other projects... ask away!

Radar Lock? ...where do I find info on this game
Cupcakus replied to 2600-4sale's topic in Atari 2600
I wouldn't say it's "great".. It has merit, to me it was always just a slapped together mess of solaris code. The manual was like 2 pages if I remember correctly, and the game only has five levels. So when you get to around the third level it approaches impossible difficulty. It also requires two joysticks to play, which has been bashed on this board for numerous other games.. Playing Radar lock, always made me put in Solaris, the mid air refuelings were fun at first, but that couldn't overshadow the rest of the boring game. -
Nah... there are so many older GCN games I've been dying to play for months, that I will have plenty of time before I get to Zelda... and by then it will be easily available :-)

Picked it up last night... Target had the get a free game deal and they also throw in a free memory card... so I was like... what the hell. Got MP4 with it. I really wanted to get prime, but FPS's are games that once I beat them, no matter how good the game is... I never play it again. The dust on my Halo package is apauling :-) My wife is a Mario Party nut, and it's replay value is thru the roof, so it just seemed like a better buy. And cause I can't do anything half-assed, I got the rest of the goodies, GBA->GCN cable, and two more controllers... I also got Animal Crossing... someone somewhere told me to get it... and I'm a sucker for things that make my GBA do stuff I have never seen it do before. I played it for a little bit... I'm a little irked at how it uses real time for the game world... I often can't play until late at night when my other responsibilities are done... and most of the game world is shut down late at night. I also got the E-Reader for my GBA... something I've had a fascination with from the moment it came out... Picked up all of the NES games for it, I also picked up a pack of Animal Crossing e-cards, hoping they would do something neat in the GCN game... but after wasting 30 minutes scanning them all in to the GCN game... absolutely nothing worth while came out of it... All it did was send me worthless letters in the "Mail"... Maybe I'm missing something? I was thrilled to see it retains the last major scan you put in it... even whent he power is turned off. That is great! The NES games take 10 scans, which while not very painfull, is easily avoided until you want to load another game into the reader. And last but definetly not least I got the Mario Party e-card game... very neato... easily the families favorite card game ever... It's simple enough for the kids, cunning enough for the adults... and the GBA mini-games are really fun, especially the duels my son is really good at a few of them.

Don't know if this was posted yet... I've been away for a bit... but I was just at target and I saw these sitting under the Yu-Gi-Oh! electrolatic thingymado... They've been out for a while, but this is the first time I've seen a product like this at a chain store.

For you Raiders impaired... I did make a vid of a complete perfect game which is posted on my web site. Check it out! http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/accomplish.html

Yeah I could have sworn I demonstrated proper pitch settings for docking in that vid :-) Good luck stan!
