Yes... but probably at a greater cost then you can buy custom made PCB's for the same task. Both games used F8 bankswitching... the most common 8k bank switching scheme... all 8k homebrews use this method. What is interesting is the M-Network Bumb 'n Jump is E7 bankswitched, which is quite different then F8, and the ROM was dumped at 16k. Very interesting.... But the Telegames version is definetly F8. As long as the EPROM's you use have the same pinout as the EPROM used before, absolutely. No... that is not possible, the bankswitch logic looks for specific addresses x1FF7 and x1FF8 to know which bank to switch to. If you placed a 4k game onto the EPROM that had an instruction, or data in either of those addresses, the cart will bankswitch and crash. However not every game has data in that area... so it may work on certain games.

What's the deal with re-releasing Dreamcast games on modern systems and everyone hailing them as great games???? Why did the DC have to go?

If you really don't remember... Flexured is that person... Thus all the bashing he's recieved on this thread.

Best 2600 emulator (for testing programs) ?
Cupcakus replied to Lord-Chaos's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
This is a matter of debate... and it's really up to you. I use EditPlus to code my projects, which is a windows program... Having to go to DOS and run Z26 every time I compile is a pain. Here are the pluses and minuses I see to each of the emulators... I use all three. Of course your best bet is to get a Flash Cart when they are available and not have to use an emulator at all :-) Z26 --Has a scanline counter (-V9) which is a godsend to the developer... :-) --Runs very poorly on DOS emulated OSes (NT/2000/XP) --Runs in DOS, so it has to be completely exited if you want to get back to your code. --Has a trace debug feature that can really help you sort out bugs. --I only use Z26 when I want to verify the scan line count, and when I need to run a trace for a bug I can't narrow down. PCAEWin --Runs completely in a window, plus after each compile you just click the lightning bolt button, and then the green light button and you can see your new compile... super easy and fast. Sound emulation is good, but colors are a bit off. --Has an integrated Debugger. It doesn't work very well... but it does let you stop the game at any point and check the contents of all the registers and RAM... If you set up specific values to write into RAM at certain areas, this is a great method of debugging. It also has breakpoints, and step through too, but I can never get them to work. --This IMHO is the best development emulator, and the one I use the most... It just works best with windows. Cyberstella --I use this one rarely... I feel it's colors are dead on to what the TV will look like... however it's sound emulation is shady at best... and it only runs in full screen mode. --If you have a bankswitched game, you will have to create a .PRO file entry for your game each time you compile it... including a MD5 checksum... waste of time. I only use Cyberstella to see if the colors look right. There are others... but that is what I use. -
I also saw an infomercial the other night, on 3D glasses and software that is supposed to make all computer games 3D... (Some DirectX Latch I think) Unlike VR glasses... you can see through these and not fall down the stairs. I also think there is a big Chess match coming up where no only will Kasparov be playing the game with the glasses on, but it will be aired on the net in 3D if you have those glasses. Sounds like coroporate BS to me... but what do I know?

Mmmmm Holodeck... :-) Holodecks would stop procreation... we'd all go extinct... who needs to get married when you can construct the perfect woman and make her do whatever you want? :-)

I did GBA homebrewing for a while before I came to Atari... I actually wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark for the GBA... The hardest part is getting someone to send you a copy of the dev manual... It is (or used to be) *very* hard to come by.

I keep all of mine in 8-track carrying cases... Hard to find now... but picked them up in the 80s just for this purpose.

A quick scan of the archives will show this has been asked a zillion times... It's even been asked on the first page of threads!! http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19674

Yeah I read that Keyboards may be an option too... but even without one... it will still be more usefull then nothing on the GCN.
-
See option B. Ha ha ha ha!!!!!
-
PSO is coming to XBox... and while it still suffers with keyboard issues, the voice communicator will help leaps and bounds over GCN.
-
Ah ha ha!!! Funny!
-
I remember just about everything in the 80s needed four D cell batteries :-)
-
No, but I want one :-)

Mario Party games for nintendo systems are the most popular games they sell... and coinsidentally, MP2 and MP3 for the N64 are my favorite games for that system... My wife is a rare video game player... but shes always up for a round of MP. I havn't played MP4 yet... but that is enough for me to want a GCN. And I am not the only one that feels this way... If you can find one, FuncoLand sells loose used MP carts for $35+ All other N64 carts are no more than $15. They are extremely popular and really fun.

Downloaded the demo today!!!! Holy crap! :-) I'm buying it tomorrow :-) Best game for the PocketPC ever... Trips to the throne will never be the same. http://www.ionside.com/

No... the hardware is different... or at least the BIOS is... When you start the supercharger you get a "load game" screen, which you play the tapes into... That screen will be all mucked up if you try a PAL supercharger on an NTSC TV... however if you load an NTSC ROM into the supercharger after that point, you should be fine.
-
You da man! That did it :-) Thanks.
-
Does this work in XP? Or am I just not getting it? If I execute the file, nothing happens. I'm trying to Hack-O-Matic proof some sensitive areas of my new game... :-)
-
I would get a 2600... 7800's are a lot more rare in comparison. 2600's are less than $10 these days... might as well get one and not mod anything.
-
That sounds right :-) When I found out about them, I tried to pick one up in a hurry :-) But to no avail... they were all gone. They had some limitations I think too? Like less memory? Or they couldn't play FMV?

I guess everyone has a "find" they can brag about.

Good find! :-) Why does this never happen to me?? -
I have a GBA flash cartridge, and I have played many homebrews on real hardware... There is also a PSX homebrew scene... In fact... sony actually released homebrew PSX consoles for a short while... with dev kits for like $179 I think.... They were black... I forgot the name of them.... Started with a Y I think. Just about every console has a homebrew scene :-) Except the channel F :-) Which I intend to look into in a while :-)
