I'm not sure how far "advanced" i will release it, but I will release a ROM before the game is sold.

They're going to release a next gen console in 2005/2006 with the other biggies. http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/fun.games/01/...reut/index.html

No.... Two hundred actually :-) The cases require a lot of work anyway... The PCB tabs have to be broken off, the post has to be cut away, the end label area has to be cut for the DB25 port, and the upper right side requires a hole for the power supply. Plus each board has 183 points to be soldered. This will take time :-) but it's worth it... I have always wanted a device like this :-)... as I'm sure others do too. How it fits in a case is yet to be seen. I have printed a scale image on cardstock and cut it out... and everything looks OK... but I won't know until I recieve the board.

The Flash Cartridge will support all known forms of bankswitching and extra RAM.

If you look at this image, you will see that I had the center post in... http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/view_page...es/awesome1.png I was forced to remove the center post to leave enough room for the hundreds of traces that need to be routed around the board. And SOIC chips are not as hard as you think to solder... With reflow on the board it's really only a matter of heating the pads.

Yes... I will use this extra time to create a PAL format binary.

What's the official Digital Press/CGE stance on this?

No! This rediculous thread MUST remain hijacked! For the sake of us all! -
It took longer then expected, but I have designed and placed the order for the beta phase Flash Cart prototypes... If this proto works, I will be DONE!!!!! and ready for production carts... (Don't get your hopes up) I have budgeted for 3 proto runs... I checked and rechecked every trace on this board, and it "should" work perfectly :-) Here's to hoping! Keep your fingers crossed. Pictures of the final board as promised.... For those who are still interested after all this time :-)

I talked with Al.. and he's willing to send me a few labels to sign for you mondo collectors out there :-)

Well, one shelf at least... Kablamo! is now listed as coming soon to the AtariAge store, and is expected to ship February 15th. This extra time gives me a chance to apply a little more polish to the game, and time for the manual design and production to be finished. The label art is already finished, cart image shown below. If you would like to learn how to play Kablamo! Instructions can be found on my web site, at http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/kablamo.html Description from AA store: "60 seconds, is all that separates you from being a winner, or a loser. Sit down across the table and compete against three sophisticated artificial intelligence computer opponents. Take turns in an all out strategy board game, bringing the running total as close as you can to 60 seconds without going over. bluff your opponents and try to draw them out. the first player to bring the total over 60 seconds is Kablamo! Better hope it's not you! Can't make another player bring the total over a minute? Vent your frustration by lobbing a live one at them! But watch out! They may be able to throw it back! Based on the Mattel Inc. card game Boom-O, Kablamo! can really make you sweat. Hidden rewards await those who survive. Do you have what it takes to be a winner? You may have only one minute to decide."

I love phoenix... basically because I am so good at it :-) Demon attack is too easy... but the sound is fun.

Which games should they NEVER have tried to do on the 2600?

Beat 'em and eat 'em! No woman is that hungry.... Right NE? -
If you want every label variation... you may as well just stop now... :-)
-
Those are very good fakes :-) You should have been hired on by that Airworld guy... :-) He may have lasted longer.
-
I listened to this when you posted it to [stella] Fantastic :-) If only you were around doing this 20 years ago :-) We'd be playing the Atari 20800 right now :-)

I think you guys should have a set group of requirements to be eligable... There are some good homebrews out that Xype ignores... and it would be interesting to find out why... What makes a game Xype quality?

Yes! as soon as this design is done I will be ordering a functional prototype! The images were generated in Protel DXP.
-
The Funcolands here are NES hot zones... No atari there though :-)

I was wondering around my CAD software today trying to figure out how to do something, when I stumbled on a feature to render the board in 3D... :-) Fantastic! It doesn't let me save the generated model... so I took a couple shots of it... :-) When I am done laying the traces I will take these shots again :-) http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/view_page...es/awesome1.png http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/view_page...es/awesome2.png

Ask and ye shall recieve... Lets a lighten up a bit? This is all over Video Life and Magicard for crying out loud... :-) -
Things are actually not that bad with overseas shipping anymore. My last Lik-Sang order (which came from Hong Kong to here in upstate New York) took all of 3 days from ordering to arrival. And I had a package fedexed to me from Ireland last month and it arrived the next morning! It's all amazing and totally cool to me. Of course you have to deal with the PCB guys' internal turnaround time, but I don't see any reason that should be worse for overseas companies. Rob That's actually pretty cool! When I ordered from Lik Sang a year or so ago for my GBA stuff it took weeks to arrive...

I think FE is the best of the 8k bankswitching schemes... it really allows a good code structure... unfortunetly the hardware required to implement it is is not exactly easy :-)
-
You got a good deal on the atari stuff... But you need to take that CAPS LOCK key right back to where you bought it!
