Yes super cool :-) Thanks for sharing!

I just remove all the phones from the house and let the least experienced person cook... :-) Fire!!!!!!! And no one to call for help!!!!! ah ha ha ha :-)

But lets not forget Bungie is in the armpit of Micro$oft... and this game may be rushed to meet big brother's needs.

They probably havn't finished game play just yet... so they have nothing to show... But those scenes are not Pre-Rendered in the slightest. They are scripted elements of the game engine... so what looks good enough to be considered prerendered is actually what the game is going to look like the whole time!!!

Sorry no release today as planned :-( I want to make it play with paddles, instead of joysticks... it just feels more like a paddle game... I realised tonight that I have no idea how to read paddles :-) So I asked the Stella List and I hope to have it figured out soon... Until then.. here is a vid I took of the update I made on the bottom corner bombs. They now look a little better and have a cool bomb flicker animation... I plan to add a gradient of some sort too to make them look even more "bomby" :-) kablam.zip

Yes, RAM+ is a "possibility" for homebrewers... I know Paul Slocum was considering writing a RAM game, however he was planning on using SARA architecture, which is significantly less RAM then RAM+ offers. But extra RAM is given at a cost of less ROM space... so the tradeoff has to be made somewhere. RAM+ supported 256 Bytes of RAM, SARA supports 128 Bytes. The M-Network RAM scheme supports 2k of RAM. Remember that the 2600 can only access 4k of ROM max. If the RAM is on cart, the Atari has to use ROM addresses to write/read RAM from the cart. So memory is written to one set of adresses, and then read from another set of addresses. So 256 Bytes of RAM effectively takes up 512 Bytes of ROM space per bank. M-Network RAM is very odd and complicated which allows it to have 2k but I doubt the hardware to make such a RAM cart will be designed by the homebrew community as of yet...

The screen is the exact same size as the GBA... this new device is exactly the same technically as the original GBA... it's just more portable and has a light/recharge battery

Nintendo held a hands on conference in Vegas... and IGN took vids and all kind of cool stuff on the system http://pocket.ign.com/articles/382/382062p1.html What's even cooler, is the reporter claims to have very big hands, and he said the system is very comfortable and responsive and is very deceiving given it's looks. They also state there will be no price drop for the current GBA for the forseable future.

NO way! But I guess everybody would sign a NDA (for a free copy ). Ha ha :-) My goal is to keep it from the non-Thomas group I think... Trying to hide it from you will only make you more determined to find it :-) But the screen will be hidden from Hack-O-Matic and other graphics rippers, and dispersed in the code enough that most people will lose interest trying to find it :-) I intend to give a subtantial prize of some sort for the first person to get to the screen, and I hope to eliminate cheaters :-) It may be futile though :-(

I really can't pick just one... but my current favorite is Qb... I love 2600 puzzle games... and that is the best one that combines action and puzzles... "So Far"

Yeah I think a paddle would translate well for this game... but I wrote it for Joystick... I may change it however because it does feel more like a paddle game :-) The game also has no sound... so I'm gonna have to throw in some explosions and such... Plus the game wouldn't be any fun without a secret message screen to find... :-) The trick is now to find a way to hide it from the code jockeys :-)
-
Yeah "demo" is a good word :-) Because when I tried it on a real TV nothing worked :-) But it was playable on PCAE :-) The kernel is still shot... I am spending more time on this game than I wish... but I should have it all set today.

I think a post to the 2600 forum is in order too :-) -
Has anyone played this??? I was a huge addict of the original game... but never bought any expansion packs because the added features never felt like $30 to me... But online play may be cool... The top review sites havn't talked about it yet... I was just wondering if anyone else has... My bud at EA wants to know if I want a copy... not sure tho...

While some of Randy's practices were considered unethical... I have yet to hear, nor do I believe, he is a theif... Perhaps he just forgot about your order. There are still ways to contact him I'm sure, if anyone knows have them PM you with the info so you can get your money or product.

The device is still far from finished... which will determine it's final cost... but I think we're looking at less than $90 a cartridge... definetly cheaper than the cuttle was.

There are rechargeable batteries available for the GBA for fairly decent prices... I sure hope you aren't thinking of buying an SP for this reason alone. Yeah, I think it was a mistake to only have two face buttons too... they could have easily added X and Y and made it like a SNES controller. It would have made ports easier, and games like Street Fighter Alpha 3 wouldn't have to resort to weird controls. At the very least, it would have been nice if they put the Start and Select buttons on the same side as A and B so that games could theoretically use them as well (Pressing them with my left thumb seems weird to me). However, it's probably for the best that they didn't change anything on the SP, otherwise we'd have to worry about compatibility problems and such. I think I'll pass on this one... Nintendo already has enough of my money without me paying for things I already have. --Zero Wherea are several games where you have to "hold" L or R or both in addition to A or B or Both to perform a specific action... With only your thumb for control over 4 buttons, this would be terrible.

What is the flash cartridge? Several people have commented on it in this post, yet I can't find any info on it. I am working dilligently on a 2600 Flash Cartridge... This cartridge will support every 2600 game ROM in the library except for the 64kb Megbaboy cartridges, and Pitfall 2.. as well as homebrew author's images for testing. This device is programmed very quickly from the PC parallel port. More information can be obtained from my web site... http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/fcart.html

It does look very cheap.. I agree... but have you ever put a GBA in your pocket? :-) I can't even sit down without it stabbing me... I agree it's nothing like the original GB, but it is very bulky for a pocket game system... However this new unit is most certainly pocket compatible.. and that is a huge plus :-) Plus it's rechargable.. I go through so many batteries a month in my GBA... especially when I use it as an emulator... recharge batteries are a dream come true... Still.... I wish it was a little better... Like internal memory... MP3 capabilites... oh well :-)

Hey!!!!! I have that DK portable in my display case!! How did you get it

I thought I already posted to this thread :-) But I guess not... Assuming we have to choose homebrew's already released... Qb Thrust SCSICide MarbleCraze Euchre Honorable Mentions Skeleton Space Treat

Great :-) But did you have to call it Quest? :-) Now there may be confusion with my WIP.... http://www.atariage.com/~clarkin/quest.html
