  1. Nice lot you got there, I love my 2600 vader. About the cart slot cleaning, a member here suggested taking a used gift card or expired credit card, cutting it to size and putting a piece of an old shirt or something around it to use to clean the cart slot. Mine didn't need it but I did it anyways. It pulled up some dust, works like a charm :)

  2. Hey guys, When I got my Atari 2600's all I had was a little 19 inch cheap Apex TV. Yeah it works great and all but I wanted that old-school look. So I went on Craigslist and bought myself a vintage 1983 RCA ColorTrak TV. It sure weighs a lot but you gotta love that look and feel of Quality, before RCA turned into RCM (Radio Corporation of Mexico) Having the plastic woodgrain on the TV just makes it that much better. So my question is, who here has gone and bought, or refurbished an old TV to go with that sweet 2600? You don't have to take pictures but they are always welcome. Thanks guys.

  3. I'm 18 and the 7800 started it for me about 10 or so years ago. After finding my old 7800, cleaning it up and getting more games for it I'm back into Atari again. I recently got into the 2600 also and I love it. So many carts to collect and the overall gameplay on those things are awesome, simple to work on too.

  4. Could be a blown capacitor in the 7800 itself, but if I were you I'd test the power supply to see if your getting power to your 7800. get ahold of a voltage tester and see if your getting power.

  5. Yup, my favorite has to be the proline joystick too. Guess me and Youki are the odd men out as everyone else seems to hate these things. I have never had problems of hand cramping or blisters. And yeah, I've played games like Asteroids which require the constant firing and I've never had problems. It's just the right size and it seems like a sturdy controller to me. Now about the one I hate, gotta be any model like the old aircraft simulators used, big bulky and horrible.

  6. hello all,

just need some advice, i can not seem to get my 7800 work. powers on to a black screen as if no game was inserted. cleaned my games and the system itself. no luck. just black screen.

    any ideas?

    thanks!

First off, please tell me that's not Hubert Cumberdale in your Avatar :ponder: About your 7800, check the basics first. Is your TV switched to channel 3 or 4? are you using a switch box or a RCA-coaxial connector? If your using a switch box it may be the problem. Just check the little things first, there usually the problem ;)

  7. Yeah, as of now I only have one OEM Atari controller for my 2600 and it makes me feel a little mad when people use it and make it screech and sqauk by yankin on the joystick too much. Thank god I got 4 original controllers coming soon! :-D

  8. Does your TV itself have a color switch? Is there a VCR or anything else like that connected to your TV so you could test that for color too? It sounds like it may be something simple.

  9. Yeah, I bought it because it is one of the first games I remember playing on my first Atari system which was a 7800. Now that I can play it on my 2600 4 switch I got recently, it makes it that more enjoyable. I like the cart's label too.

  10. Ok guys, I just picked up TI today at a flea market and when I got home to test it, the helicopter is on top of the building, I hit reset and the building is on fire and the heli comes down. But, when I'm actually the fireman in the building I can't move. I tried a few other Atari games and they all work fine, but my fireman refuses to move. Is there something wrong with this cart or did he fry instantly? :D

  11. Thanks for the info guys, looked kinda common being a sports game. I don't even know where I'd get a intellivision so I'll let someone else pick it up. I'm just hoping someone will mix some Atari carts in with the 8-Track box at the thrift store. :D

  12. Hey guys, found a MLB baseball game for intellivision in the box. Just curious if it was worth picking up for a buck. I don't have any use for it but maybe someone here would want it?

Whoops, forgot I was in the Atari 2600 forum, if this can be moved I would appreciate it, sorry again for that.

  13. Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, before I got ahold of my 2600's I was using stella and prosystem emulators. They both work pretty good and they are very close to the real thing. I think that the two carts I'd like to find next would be Tapper and Pressure Cooker.

  14. Hey guys, I mainly hang out in the 7800 forum (if you didn't see my screename :) ) Anyways, I was on craigslist the other day and I ended up buying two 2600 4-switchers for $30, a darth vader and a woody. Both had their problems and I wanted to thank you guys for the help. I figured out (along with my dad) that the vader had a bad voltage regulator and a bad capacitor. The woody worked, except the female power adapter's ground wasn't grounded and that was an easy fix. They now work awesome and I only put about $10 between the both of them. Thanks again for the info on this site guys, without it my 2600's would just become cool looking paperweights. :D

  15. Yeah, I like the ones I grew up with which were Joust, Centipede, Desert Falcon Asteroids. Finding this box full of 2600 carts was awesome as there seem to be a bunch of great 2600 games. Thanks for the greetings guys, Good to see the old Atari's kept alive. :)

  16. Well thanks guys, I shoulda did some better research before posting that question. That box had some weird titles in it like Shuttle orbiter and Solar fox, but it had some good ones i like to play like Jungle Hunt, Frogger and Pitfall

  17. Hey guys, I'm new here and today i decided to go to our local flee market as they almost always have Atari games strewn about. Well, I found a box of about twenty of em that I got for $10. After I cleaned them up I listed them on a piece of paper and went to the rarity scale to check em out. I found a MASH game made by 20th century fox that wasn't listed there and I was wondering if there is any info about it?
