Yeah, we're talking 80s here. This was very common in the 80s, even into the early 90s, especially with computer games.

If you think about PAL-M from Middle/South America, then it propably can be done. In fact the Brazilian units just convert the colors and use NTSC games, so propably you could conceive a unit that could toggle this color convertion on/off... Maybe for this two TIAs would come in handy, but I'm not sure. If you think about real PAL (Europe), maybe there is some kind of external converter you could put between the A2600 and the TV, of course you could go ahead and put it into the console... But I don't think 2 TIAs would help anything, as NTSC games actually play quite fine in PAL consoles, and vice versa, just the picture on the TV is messed up. This means "PAL consoles" and "NTSC consoles" aren't really different, apart from the type of connection cord you plug in your TV (less "pain" in Europe) Note, there are some TVs - especially newer ones - that compensate for NTSC/PAL automatically.

Could you tell me the trick how to get a plain list of "all videos" in those new channel designs? On ashens' channel I tried clicking on "Show all", but then it said something about unknown playlist... However on farfromfubtle's channel such a link even is nowhere to be seen. I even tried this: Playing any video in the channel, then double clicking into the video player so it opens the video in the normal Youtube layout, outside the channel... Then on the right I scrolled through the "more from the same user" box to the very bottom, clicked on the link to show all vids and... I'm back at the channel page again!! That's propably all part of a conspiracy... want to hear my conspiracy theory about the secret "Everything In The Internet Shall Fade" movement?

We had another thread about this, this hint seems to be a hoax (there's a lot of false or "half-true" trivia here on AtariAge, is there no one servicing that database? I noticed you can't submit anything anymore, but I think at some point you still could?) Someone on that other thread noted that looking at the Pac-Man ROM there's no way the game could "remember" the number of ghosts you killed in the next round. However, the other "cheat", the tunnel warp, seems to work, although the instructions given there don't make much sense. However, I did this inadvertently 2 times already, but can't reproduce it.

joeypsp, you propably are lying on the floor and laughing while picturing in your mind how many people try clicking on your "possibly from a hardware store or something"... scnr

What exactly did you do? Are these pictures "before and after"? If so, the second picture is kind blurry, propably it was too dark for your digicam... BTW, nice shelf... "Video Game Organizer"

Oh, I didn't know they still exist. No, I don't think we have them in Europe, I only heard of them on the Internet. However, maybe they just aren't present in Germany (since Arcade games are 18+ since 1983), but maybe in other European countries...

Maybe in that magazine they called it "4-bit" not as a technical term but to differentiate it form post-crash 8-bit systems? However, then there should be at lest a * after that "4-bit" and then an explanation on the bottom of the page... More like covering your own face with your palm - or both of them - like "I can't believe you really said that..." or "How could anyone really think THAT?"
-
Yes, of course.
-
I think if they'd really done that, the 2600 would have turned out more like the 5200, but for a price no-one would be willing or able to pay, like $1000 - $1500...

Are there any games based on cereal mascots?
Herbarius replied to mbd30's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Forgot to mention, it's made by Factor 5, so it's really worth a look. -
What model is this PC controller?
Herbarius replied to nathanallan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Mind that USB adapters for Gameport-Controllers are non-trivial and propably not cheap. That's because USB joysticks have some device in them, that Gameport joysticks don't have, because it's on the sound card or gamport card. -

Tony & Friends in Kellogg's Land, a German freeware game for Amiga and PC. If you google for it you can find it, it works in the DOSbox emulator... however, for some reason water isn't visible, although it's pretty obvious where water should be. -
Prototype of keyboard/mouse adaptor for PlayStation
Herbarius replied to psx-collector's topic in Prototypes
A related question, were there mice for the PS1? I don't mean PC mice using this adapter, but original Playstation mice? The reason why I asked this, I remember when a friend of mine got his Playstation for birthday (when it was still new), and I think I recall a some kind of catalog/booklet that came along with it which had all kinds of peripherals for the Playstation, and a mouse was one of them... Although, I'm not really sure, it's been a long time and maybe I'm mixing something up... EDIT: Nevermind, I should have googled first. Of course there is a mouse. -
Look at my new controller - SIGMA Multi-Function 2100
Herbarius replied to Herbarius's topic in Atari 2600
I'm bouncing this thread because since I got it, the controller got worse. The joystick is a lot more stiff than it was when I got it, also it does make "unhealthy" noises when moved. I thought about using bicycle oil to lubricate it, shall I proceed or do you have any objections? -
What a great idea! Guess I should make a "hat" too

I really like this video: Yes I know, it's not real but a fan edit (cut together from different AVGN episodes), but nevertheless funny as hell. Especially with the music... Imagine that would happen to you, yes it's technically impossible, but think magic, some kind of evil curse...

I almost can't believe it, just as I write this I switch back-and-forth to look at the picture again. Looks like they actually tried to make it look like an Atari release... or not... if they'd actually tried they would have done a better job... would they? ... OMG, it really blows my mind... look at that stuff written on there, it's gibberish Btw, CX2684 actually is Galaxian. EDIT: So, I looked up the Galaxian cartridge, and see what it's got: they just copied the text from the Galaxian cart, maybe without knowing what it meant. I mean, that's why I said it's gibberish, what does Midway or Namco have to do with Enduro... or "Turbo"... BTW, is there some kind of "Off-topic thread" where you can post reactions like this one without "polluting" the original thread?

The afterlife is just the last thing you saw before death, with alternating colors and total silence for all eternity.

I thought the 4-switch case was smaller than the 6-switcher.
-
Can this only be played using the built-in monitor or can you connect it to the TV? Because while holding the "guitar", you can't really look at that sceen, at least not comfortably. Also it is quite small... But apart from that, it looks really nice, an awesome idea and also nicely done.

I'm confused, how is that even possible?

They won't fit in, neither in a cassette stand which is supposed to hold cassettes with cases nor in those for loose cassettes. Atari carts are just a little too big, except for the length, which is a little too short.

This C64 gamer never heard of this game until reading this thread earlier today. Hmmmm.... --Timster-- I too never understood the fascination with Last Ninja. I tried it both on my real C64 and on WinVICE, I also tried the PC (MS-DOS) version, and yes I've read the instructions, but it's just... The controls are complicated and the game ist unfair. Why do I say unfair? Okay for once even the first enemy you meet is like impossible to defeat. Second, if you want to pick up or use something, you've to do this move and you've to line up the tip of the hand of your player character exactly with the item of interest, which is really frustrating. It even had a sequel but surprisingly none of these issues were resolved, it's rather like a "mission pack sequel". However, the PC version had actual improvements: While the first Last Ninja had some bugs in the controls, Last Ninja 2 fixed this, so the controls were on-par with the C64 version.

The link "Atari Giant Variation Label List" still points to a Word DOC...
