  2. The Vita is region-free and still has plenty of support in Japan. If you're interested in importing games the Vita is a great system.

EDIT: Here's a recommended game list shamelessly stolen from somewhere else. If it seems to have a lot of weeb games, well, that's the nature of the beast when it comes to the PS Vita.

  3. Probably my uncles basement. I remember when I was about 10, he had an Atari but before I could play it I had to drink this funny drink first that made me sleepy and when I woke up my clothes were on inside out. He told me it was part of the instructions for Space Invaders but I never had to do that in the arcade. icon_ponder.gif

Reminds me of the fun times I had with my uncle and his two friends: Father O'Mally and Scoutmaster John. Nothing but wholesome, video gaming fun!

  4. Hi guys,

    Interesting news

SNK Playmore sues Square Enix and get their offices raided by the police!

    Anthony...

From what I understand (ie hearsay) is that SE got permission from other companies before they made the manga. I haven't read the manga, but in my eyes it looks to be fair use. It's not like it's starring the characters from Samurai Shodown or anything.

I'd love to hear Cebus The Lawyer's opinion on this.

  5. I was going through my collection today and I was reminded of a box related ebay story. About 4 years ago I bought a boxed TI-99/4a off of ebay. I paid around $15 to have it shipped to my door. The seller, in order to save money, cut the box and flipped it inside out. From there, he covered it in brown paper. Under the paper was a note - written in pen - saying to cut where the tape was so I wouldn't harm the box. Of course, this was after I tore the thing open like a Christmas present.

So yeah. Use a separate box.

  6. By the way, they updated Freedom Planet. It seems a lot of people were complaining that some bosses were way too hard so they listened to the feedback and toned down the bosses a bit and also made some other improvements. Just started playing the new version and the game seems to have struck a better balance.

No kidding. Pre-boss nerf people were dying on average of 5 lives per level. Which is basically what happened for me post-nerf. But the real difference is the final boss. Pre-nerf people were losing on average 100 lives to the final boss. Not even an exaggeration. I beat the patched game last night, and I died only 20 times against the final boss. So it's definitely easier.

  7. This year I made gold status on Club Nintendo. So, I get to choose from the following list of virtual console games:

    Ice Climber - Wii U

    Kid Icarus - Wii U

Super Mario Bros - Wii U

Zelda II Adventure of Link - Wii U

    Donkey Kong 3 - 3DS

    Wario Land II - 3DS

    Metroid - 3DS

    Super Mario Land 2 - 3DS

I already own most of these on the original consoles. I only get to pick one, so first come first serve on the download code.

    Shit be claimed, yo

Currently, I am playing Freedom Planet that was one of the Kickstart projects that I supported. Pretty good platform game in the style of the original Sonic game.

To everyone reading, don't hesitate to buy Freedom Planet. The game plays like a combination between Sonic 2 and Rocket Knight Adventures. Visually, it looks right at home on the Sega Saturn. It's fun, has great music, has colorful levels, and is fully voice acted. Totally worth the $15.

  9.

As for future support, NVIDIA just released the "Shield 2" with the Tegra K1, so they can't be doing too badly. The Shield 2 is a tablet, and it's bigger than the 1st gen Shield. Next thing you know, BDW will be arguing that a tablet is not portable. LOL. ;)

You sound quite emotionally invested in this. I'll leave the arguing up to you and I'll actually go play some videogames. Toodles ;)

  10. BDW- Oh, that's OK. I don't carry a gaming device in my pocket- just my phone, keys, and wallet...y'know, like normal people?

But I see you did not counter any of the technical claims:

MUCH more powerful SoC, much higher resolution screen, better speakers, better controls; particularly when it comes to emulation, Vita simply doesn't have the same horsepower as the Shield.

    ...and that's because they're true.

...Except you're in the wrong topic. We're talking about portable devices. If I was just going to sit in my house and play emulators I would hook my PC up to my flatscreen, not play on a low quality 5" screen.

  11. BDW- actually, you should accept a better substitute: the NVIDIA Shield. MUCH more powerful SoC, much higher resolution screen, better speakers, better controls, and rocks at emulation with Retroarch and other emulators. Particularly when it comes to emulation, Vita simply doesn't have the same horsepower as the Shield, and that's a fact you cannot dispute. With the Shield 2, this already-wide performance gap only gets bigger.

Enjoy trying to carry that cinderblock in your pocket.
