  1. CEC robots are quite hard to come by. Like was already mentioned, any salvageable parts are re-distributed throughout the company. Any older robots which are no longer used, like the original CEC heads sticking out from the stage, the hippopotamus, or the lion dressed like Elvis, are destroyed on-site when they are decommissioned with detailed pictures sent back to the company. At least that's how they did it when I worked there back in the early 90's. Could be different these days.
  2. Man, cool that you got it for free and all, but there's zero excuse for a seller not to give you exactly what is pictured in the auction. It would be like winning an auction for a rare stamp, and then receiving it slapped onto a postcard with a note saying "Thanx for bidding. Hope you don't mind me using what you just bought so I can save money on shipping! A+++++ buyer!" Accidents aside, which do happen from time to time, I had better receive exactly what I just paid for.
  3. Boy, I hope not. Not in this economy at least. People are driving their cars longer, repairing clothes instead of throwing them away, using coupons when grocery shopping...I hope this mentality carries over to the consoles, as well. Get the most out of them before moving on to something new. I also doubt Sony wants to unveil a PS4 when their PS2 is ten years old, still cranking out units, and probably will for quite some time.
  4. Kind of have to wonder what the achievements would be like...
  5. Food Fight today! Plays very well.
  6. Long before the popularity of the internet, people liked playing video games with their friends. There are some games that are fun to play with friends, and some games that are fun to play by yourself. That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it always will be. So should EA decide that solo gaming has no future in every genre, then it's going to be a very short-lived direction they choose to take. That's like saying, "Gamers have evolved to the point where introverts no longer exist! Look at Facebook!". They're going to lose a lot of money if they think that is true.
  7. Still no Food Fight today. Bummer. Last night I got home from work and fired up Game Room at about 12:15am. They had pack 13 available for download, so I tried to download it. It ended up disappearing from my downloads and still isn't available. Anybody have enough time to download pack 13 and see what's in it?
  8. Interesting you have a Datasette 1530 with a 1531 box. Looks like a few tapes came with it, though. Anything of interest?
  9. It was an arcade game. It wasn't very popular, so I doubt it ever made it onto a console. But I'm not 100% sure about that. Yeah, I'm not quite sure why they don't do this. Either do a weekly deal where they'd offer a couple of different games that don't sell well anymore for a buck, or offer a package deal at a heavy discount. Either way, I'd be on board with this. Supposedly last October they were supposed to have a Konami Game Room bundle of 15 games for 1200 points. For whatever reason this never panned out. Kind of sucks because that would have been an incredible deal and gotten some buzz for Game Room.
  10. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a game more obnoxious than that. Maybe Dragon's Lair for the NES...but it's close.
  11. Wow. I've been ignoring Game Room somewhat, but I'm going to have to pick up Food Fight. I haven't had a 7800 for ages, so the only time I get to play that game is when I hit Funspot...and the controls on their machine tend to be pretty sketchy half the time. And I haven't played (or seen) Trick Trap since I was an early teen. I remember it being fun, but deadly hard. If the game plays like my memory remembers, I might need to pick that one up, too.
  12. Here is my tag: http://card.mygamercard.net/gelsig/black/Shevenell.png Feel free to add me. Especially if anybody is ever in the mood to play some Tapper.
  13. Yes! I used to have a Nelsonic Pac-Man watch from '82. Definitely my favorite digital watch. I don't know whatever happened to it, but I'd still wear it if I still had it.
  14. I remember this, as well. They would take back any game for any reason whatsoever so long as you had a receipt, but it had to be within seven days of buying the game. So if you bought a game and didn't like it...money back. If you bought a game and beat it in a week...money back. If you bought a game and had your pet gorilla defecate on it...money back. I bought a ton of games there because of this policy (at the time, both Software Etc. and Wal-Mart were bears to deal with), and the only one I ever ended up returning was a used copy of Suikodan since it would crash about ten hours into the story. But like any policy which gives people the benefit of the doubt, it got abused to no end and they eventually had to do away it.
  15. Worst part is, check the seller's feedback. This isn't the first time he's pulled this stunt. The guy is obviously a scumbag, but let the buyer beware.
  16. Co-signed on Bust-a-Move and Out Of This World. If you dig fighters, I'd highly recommend World Heroes 2, Killer Instinct, Samurai Showdown, and TMNT Tournament Fighters.
  17. For $45, that doesn't seem like a terrible deal. Two discs on a subject I thoroughly enjoy, plus a really nice coin. The blog for the movie is quite interesting, as well.
  18. You can get addicted to goofballs in Kingdom Of Loathing.
  19. Growing up, I preferred the arcade. But we didn't have a lot of money growing up, so dropping quarters at arcades was kind of uncommon. Bang for the buck, I'd buy 2600 games from the clearance bins with allowance money. $5/game vs. 20 plays at an arcade. And I was sure to get more than 20 plays out of an Atari game regardless of how bad it was. When the NES rolled around, my preferred poison was home gaming. The arcades still had the more advanced games, but around this time movie stores would rent games for $2/night. 8 plays of Hogan's Alley vs. a great looking home conversion I can play till my eyes bleed...no brainer.
  20. I was tempted to cancel my gold account anyway since I can watch Netflix on Wii, and I don't do much live gaming on my 360 anymore. Raising the price by ten bucks all but guarantees I'm canceling it. Perhaps I'll put that $60 towards a PS3 or something.
  21. I had to go with the Commodore. It's a great little system, and hopefully keeping it in plain view with your well-played system will give you the initiative to collect for it. Also depending on your set-up in the basement, perhaps the Adam down there will give the lesser-played systems a little more lovin' from time to time.

I've just been playing and re-playing the demo. I can't justify spending $15 on a downloadable game when I can get a physical copy of an equally great game for $5 more. When they have a sale on it for $10 I'll buy it.
  23. First that comes to mind: "I had every game ever made for the 2600. Even the original Mario Bros., which is about as rare as it gets." Also, there's a pawn shop close to here that sells any NES game it gets for $3 regardless of rarity. But what's in their glass case up front? A gold Legend Of Zelda cart for $25. No words actually spoken, but the action itself speaks volumes.
  24. I loved it. It's a barebones RPG, but all battles involve working on a Bejeweled-style puzzle to whittle down your opponents' hit points. There's plenty of other stuff to do (forge weapons, train mounts, capture enemies, learn spells, etc), but it's not overburdening. It's highly addictive, and good for about 40 - 80 hours depending on your comfort with puzzle games.
  25. I can play an online game with you if you would like. Wow, thanks man. I really appreciate that. I actually picked up the other two achievements tonight, but I'm always down with game amongst older gamers. My tag is "Shevenell". Feel free to give me a shout should you see me online. Cheers!
