Marius, many thanks for your good words, and for support also!
Originally intended to build a small budget from that, but I see cause the interest on the thread isn't very big. When I speak for small budget I mean at least 50 pieces, specific and particular for pcb's. You know the "gold plated" pcb's isn't cheap, especially in groups of ten as I did so far. I mean for this first run.
But if I order parts and pcb's much together, the total cost for peoples to buy may be until 10 euro less from the existing price.
Really I don't know when or if I make more from that, because I want also to present another forgotten 512 KByte flash-able cart, in a very fair price. And believe me this is not another attempt to make one more flash-able cartridge (beside there are many of these), but I would like to gave the opportunity in all members here to try its great utilities from MattHias Reichl and Stefan Dorndorf.
Hmmm Ok and Bernd Herale also
. Hi Bernd.........

Guys I am impressed with your interest. Thank you all.

For now from the first 8 members, Gandor - rdea6 - Kenjennings - Marius 1976 they want their carts. I pm the rest 4 venom4728a - bf2k+ - Jonny British - svenski.
As I said we should keep the priority as it was originally formed on this thread.
My apologies for the rest of members which I can not serve for now.

Finally became possible to build!
All the OSS cartridges in one form. As selector used a tactile switch which turn the numbers on a 7 segment display. Also the last position-choise is stored in memory, so the next time who someone power on his Atari, the same OSS program load. The change from one tool to another become on the fly, plus soft reset from the computer.Of course the "The Writers Tool" need the original initialization floppy disk to work.
A BIG thanks to Retrobits for his help. Without him, this will never happen.
Also thanks rdea who made to me known its existence.
Unfortunately from a total 10 carts only 8 is available. To be fair I keep the priority on the above list, as they come to me within this thread.
Now a price for this it could be 40 - 50 euro. Please pm me for any question.
Members who have express their interest.

Show your interest there, as to make it possible!

I believe is in the same DL page under the "Lab Tools" tab. But I am not sure.....

Your external upscaller may be the problem!
-
Did you do the obvious? By running down the wires?
And I'm curious, how did you mount the DB9.
And moreover, what is that blackbox doing on top of the modulator?
I can answer only about the black....box! Actually the SDrive unit.

Could take some pictures?
I still have a vbxe waiting to be installed.
it has a xe adapter, but now I would like to install it into a 800xl.
I have done the same in mine board who is still sitting to the drawer of my desk!
Of course with the help of Sebastian who sent me some adapters.Louis, your board is 2 days long from here if you sent it as a registered irregular letter. When you decide it, I have the proper equipment to convert it into XL compatible.

God have mercy...
:-D
Oh my God. Your Atari is in danger by a giant tie rap, who like squid has wrapped its board!!

Just kidding...

Where do you find the black DIP IDC connectors?

Thanks Roy.
Today also test my 2 1050 drives, for first time after the total refurbish. Also checked with the diagnostic cartridge and floppy.

The one in the picture slides in and out of the SIO connector much easier then the one in your picture. I prefer the one in "my" (read: atari8warez') picture and have never liked the other one, for just this reason. And I guess I'm not the only one.
And this isn't the only reason Mathy. I have seen more from the cheap?? standard connectors to have conductive problems if aged! I believe cause these was the first or a fast and dirty approach from Atari to make a connector mainly for the tape program recorders.
But when things started to get serious like the printers and floppy drives (Atari Japan), then a more reliable connector had to be constructed.
The female pins of new improved connector, is not just metals who touch the male pins of Atari device, but round who cuddle these just us the later D-Sub ones. And to be more understandable by all, like these of joysticks.
Αnd to bless my beard
these was what I order from B & C Computers and use on all my SIO2SD (and a lot -not in all- of SDRIVE) constructions. -
One could use (much) longer standoffs and screws, but I'm not even certain the computer's lid will fit if that approach is used.
That was what I feared.
Flashjazzcat although I don't have in my hands yet, I think cause the solution is to remove the existing IDC connector, and to replace with an angular one.
But to be sure first must wait to arrive here!

I don't know if or how I can transfer any BASIC programs I saved to cassette onto this device, though.
Until now I deal not with something like that.
Maybe someone else who knows can help you....If I loaded a program, then unplugged the tape drive and plugged in the SIO2SD, then I think this would either damage the device or just not be recognised.
You need a program recorder like 1010 with two SIO connectors as to connect the two devices between them. Probably you have the grey XE one who have only a cable for connection.
Very bad idea to plug or unplug the sio2sd device with your Atari power-on.

......... but I think that the SIO2SD TURBO bootloader would delete the program. I also still wonder what the ESC and SHIFT keys are for.
If you not want the turbo loader to appear you must disable it from configuration menu. With Atari power on at any menu press 2 times the SHIFT key on sio2sd device. You see "cfg tool mode" message on screen. With the DRIVE key go to "topdrive mode" and press FILE key once to make it off. After press again the SHIFT key twice to exit from this menu. Now turbo loader is off, and every time you want to go on loader menu you must press and keep the SHIFT key during the power on of you computer. Of course with the fast loader off you will not see the initial screen with "SIO2SD TURBO [OPTION+] START or SELECT" message to appear. Also the programs will load much slower.
Now about what is the function of keys:
Drive: Next Atari drive. With Shift previous one.
File: Next Atari file. With Shift previous one.
Esc: Parent directory. With Shift moves virtual drives to main drive D1.
Enter: Place the folder or map file to current Atari drive. With Shift empty the drive (eject disk), and if you press twice turn off current drive and leave the Atari free to boot without the known BOOT ERROR message.

Installation completed.
On this newly 600 XL Atari the upgrade work perfect from the first power-on, in addition to my 800 XL one who have timing issues a logic 74LS08 ic.Now maybe its time to add also the VBXE video upgrade, who have stored for one year until now.
But I can not decide which one of the two!!!

-
I have prepare the 800 XL a friend of mine, for the Ultimate1Mb Lotharek edition. Now I am asked if with this new adapter board with ribbon connectors, the case of Atari will be close.
I mean with the adapter boards placed in dil sockets.
Ok It remains to discover when it arrive here. Also I, prefer the original IDC connectors of Sebastian.
