  1. Thanks guys I`m in Chester ( UK ) So overseas postage is probably more than their worth !
  2. Hi all, I Bought an Atari 800xl a while ago as a bundle with some cassette games. As I use an SIO2PC, I have no use for them & want to get rid. Are tapes worth any thing ? - I really can not be bothered listing all these on ebay, so please be honest - I would rather offer to Forum members for a cheap price all together ! Thanks ! 4 pack with Jet set Willy, Balloonacy, Pengon, Wizard 4 pack with Mouse trap, Space hawk, Killer cycle, Who dares wins ii Feud Dropzone One man & his droid Crystal raider Chess Micro Rhythm Kickstart Attack of mutant camels Gun Law Power down The lone raider Gridrunner The Extirpator Desmonds Dungeon LA SWAT Frenesis Vegas Jackpot Beer Belly Burts Brew Biz Decathlon Preppie SpiderMan Eastern front Spellbound Ninja FidGet Ninja Master Invasion Action Biker Universal Hero Hover Bover Ghostbusters Milk Race Henry`s House
  3. Hi guys, I just want to clarify - please refer to my original post, I do not want to compare the graphics & sound capabilities of the ST to the Amiga, as I said, my recent purchase of an Atari 800xl has got me interested in an ST, my questions were about the ST equivalents of the Amiga storage devices, ability to run games from hard drive, the abilty to re-make disks from images, memory expansion options, screen quality with SCART tv`s WHDLoad equivalents, Compact flash PCMCIA adaptors, etc. So with moden techniques how easy is it to build up and run a library of ST software. Hope this clears things up !
  4. From STart magazine, DEC 1990: Pehaps this situation has improved some, but I think this should be made known to someone considering buying an ST, before they buy an expensive STe, and/or are told NOT to buy the original ST. It should be also noted that many STe models have the defective soldered-in DMA chip, which will screw up your hard drive usage, unless replaced. Thanks for making this clear for me, an ST would be fine in that case, I don`t mind using floppies if most games will work -( not like the Amiga where you need a A1200 to run any AGA games ? ) The floppy drive SD adaptor looks very promising. What is the picture quality like on a Scart equipped TV ? - with some Amiga games I struggle to read the text & workbench looks horrible.
  5. Advice on buying ST? Don't. Get an STe instead. Given you have an Amiga, Atari 8-bit, etc. you may not be missing much with just an ST. Sorry, I did mean STe - now can you give me advice ?
  6. Hi all, I`ve never had an Atari ST, It was always Commodores when I was a kid & in the last couple of years my interest in the old computers has prompted me to get an Amiga A1200, as well as a C64, Spectrum and recently a Atari 800xl. I have the Amiga packed away now & the recent Atari purchase has got me interested in maybe trying an ST. So How easy is it with modern techniques to build up a software collection on the ST ? On the Amiga I have an internal hard drive, 8mb ram expansion with WHDLoad installed, also a PCMCIA CF Reader to transfer and re-make ADF disk images. What are the equivalent methods on the ST ? Many thanks !

  10. Hiya all, Can I use my SIO2PC cable on my 65XE to save the "State" of the game I am playing to the PC to be resumed later ? Sorry for a bit of a noobie question - but I use save states when I can because I am really useless at games, and often get pulled away during play by wife & kids !! Thanks !
  11. Ahh right, now it all makes sense ! Oh and yes I meant Noob, not Nood ! since my " Games Den " is out in the cold converted garage Nood might not be a good idea !! Thanks again !!
  12. Hi , Please don`t be afraid of obvious suggestions, I am a total nood, I`ve only had my Atari 1 week ! So all I am doing is loading the image into ape, them turning on the Atari - what is the purpose of holding down the option button ?
  13. Hiya all, Just got my SIO2PC cable , amazingly fast delivery from U.S to U.K !! Anyway, I`ve got the full Tosec collection of games, but out of 20 or so I`ve tried about half of them do not load, the load stops part the way through or loads every sector then hangs with garbage on the screen. Also one of my Favs - Jumpman displays a prompt to " Please remove all cartridges ", then will not load any further. Any advice for me ? Cheers !
