Hey guys, I havn't been here in AGES, but im glad i came back.

 

I bought Ghostbusters for my Atari 2600 all those years ago. But can anyone explain EXACTLY what you are supposed to do?

 

I mean, to actually start the game, you had to flick the difficulty switch at the back. That probably took me hours to figure out.

 

Secondly, catching slimer every now and then (as frustratingly stupid as that is) seems to give you money i think it was. But eventually, some giant monster comes and stamps the city. I just dont get it...

 

ALSO, i bought that game because the pictures at the back of the case were so damn kool. Who woulda thunk that those screenshots came from the amiga version....Not a very nice thing to do to an 8 yr old kid. I dont think i could ever forgive them for doing that to me, i still havent gotten over the dissapaointment!

 

As far as i can tell, the only kool thing about that game was the tune.

 

Anyway, Id like to hear your opinions on this matter.

Cash Converters can be a good place to look. Theres this one outlet (not telling which one yet ) which has like a few hundred loose cartidges. I only had a few minutes to look through it the other day. I bought about 5 games, including Pitfall- fully boxed in perfet condition, star wars - the arcade game, 32 in 1, Peles Soccer and Pacman. Each was only 1 dollar (Australian money )

 

Unfortunately, I was totally in the dark as to what could be a rarer game at the time. I just grabbed what i thought would be good. Now that i've checked out this great web site, I can go back armed with all the information i needed, lots i didn't, and a really, really long list of gotta get games.

Hmmm, maybe those little critters are smarter than they look. I think armegeddon is close.....

 

I'd reckon its a hardware problem, that's my first guess. But if your 100% sure its not the controller, then i suppose it HAS to be your cartridges. Weird...

@cupcakus - Just curios: can you still get those tapes? Or are you just kidding?

 

I suppose though an inch or two smaller tapes have SOME benefits...such as less space in the trash can

Aaaah, yeah man, you guyz are right. I just checked it out and it's word zapper alright. Only difference is my copy was slapped together by some Chinese guy who, *remarkebly* spelt "Spelling" correctly on the cover! (J/K)

 

At least I can proclaim to have a cartridge which is hard to come by. Ill sleep with it under my pillow tonight!

Firstly, its great to see there are so many people who have the same passion for all things Atari. And I thought i was all alone...

 

I have about 25 catridges in my collection. It seems that I dont have many 'rare' games, judging by the guide on this site. But then i realised that there were a lOT of games not mentioned. Ive got this one cartridge for eg. its called 'Learning Spelling'. It has a totally irelavant picture of a cave shaped like a giant face on the cover. I got it off an old friend who cant remember who he got it from. You basically fly around in a UFO trying to zap letters which fly past the top of the screen from right to left. Has anybody heard of it before?

 

By the way, I would never DREAM of selling it, so please dont ask
