I was mainly looking to make just a few copies of some of my games for me and my friends. I might make some copies to put for sale on my website if everything comes out allright. So Im not sure if I even need high quality labels, but I would be interrested in what you could do before I resort to hozer. I have never done this before, so there is a lot that I do not know. I actually had a bad experience with a hozer game before. I bought a copy of Halloween off ebay for about $126 -- turned out to be a hozer!

I remember a website that would sell me already made carts and program the software on it for me. I can not afford an eprom programmer at the moment and would like to know if there are any sites like this. I have some homebrew stuff for the Atari 2600 and the Gameboy and would like to make a few carts. If I could have this done for me, it would be very useful. Thanks.

yeah, I found that. Its too bad that none of them are for Atari computers. I did go to Empire of the Dragon, it was pretty cool.

Are there any left that I can access on my Atari? I plan on using my ST to do this, but I also have a 16k 400 and a beat up 800xl...

I just got my Atari 1040STF and SX212 modem... I have everything set up and now I need something to connect to! Is there any dial up BBS left that I can access?

How hard would it be to create a simple chat room in Aatri BASIC? I have the following hardware available to use for this: I have 2 modems SX212 and XM301. I also have an 800XL and 400 and 1040 ST and Floppy Drive with DOS 2 and cassette recorder (and loads of other stuff). I would not mind creating a simple chat room and eventually making a MUD...

You could do a lot in 4K if you optimized your code. Thats for sure. lol The main reason this game sucks (I admit this is like one of those games like Custers Revenge or Texas Chainsaw Massacre... everyone hates it because it is so sucky it it offensive) is because my goal was to make it BIG. The lack of multi-dim arrays made me have to come up with some cheezy sloppy method of creating all 100 rooms. Iknow I have said this before, but I do plan on coming back to this project. I am just too tied up with school for one and an even bigger project that I have been working on in Qbasic: I am writing an interpreter for my own programming language known as PROSEED.

Does anybody know what happend with this? I sent neotokeo2001 a pm, but got no reply.

Atari 400 Hacker - Should he be extradited?
bongomeno replied to Assem's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
People always make hackers look bad. You get some guy who breaks the law, then suddenly every hacker is that evil dude that does everything he can to make someones life harder... I hear people say how great computers are - "My computer is so important to me. Im computer savvy. I can check my myspace and process words and draw pictures with photoshop. blah blah blah. but I hate all those hackers. they should be cast out from society!" I hear it all the time. all I have to say to them is that without hackers, computers would not be NEARLY as useful as they are today, yesterday, and the 70s-80s. Computers would not be fun and they would likely not be "user friendly". people dont realize how important computers have become in peoples lives. for those of us that are not totally consumed by them, still use them. almost everything around us has been affected by computers in some way or another! it makes me mad when people say that they know how to "use" a computer and thats enough, but when the computer does not work perfectly or does not do something EXACTLY like they want it to they bitch at the hackers for giving them a virus or the computers creator for not making it perfect when the real problem is the fact that they dont know squat about computers! I know that this is not really related to the subject, but I think that other people might share my same opinion. -

Thank you for all of the info! It turns out someone outbid me on the 600 so now im bidding on a NEW 130XE! Im also trying to get Telelink 1 and 2. I will also try to get other software. My plan is to use my house phone for this. If it does not work out for me, what would be my best option? I want to stay within the limits of what you could do in the 80s.
-
My parents are not going to be happy about this, but I am bidding on ANOTHER computer.. and like 11 other things... lol I am bidding on a 600xl in box. If I am lucky, ill get it for less tan 20 bucks! So now that I have a more powerful computer, a XM301 modem, a SX212 modem, a 850 interface, a 1027 printer, a 1050 drive, a XC12 cassette recorder, and several other Atari computers (including a 1040 ST)... what would be the best way for me to hook up a nice server? Can I just hook up my modem to my house phone line? What are the limits of a BBS? Can I access a BBS across the country or only local? can people access my BBS from newer computers with regular internet browsers or similar? What software do I use to create my BBS page? I have a few good word processors... How long should I let the server run? Will it overheat? how can I get people to visit my BBS? Im sure there is alot more that I should know to get this started. any help I can get on this will be very useful... Also Im sorry if I sound like a COMPLETE IDIOTIC NOOB LOSER. thanks for all your help.
-
hmmm. how would I have to go about writing my own terminal? i would think that it would be VERY hard and require a deep understanding of the hardware and assembly language.
-
I just got both modems new and boxed and a 1027 printer as well, as a last resort I will upgrade my memory from 16k to 48k... Will it at least be possible to access other BBS servers if not use mine as a server with my 16k ram? Does anyone know what software I can use (if any). I want to run everything from the Atari. If there is any homebrew software I can use or BASIC programs, I would be happy with that.
-
The main thing I need to know right now is what the best modem for me to buy would be. The XM301? The SX212? An acoustic modem? I mainly want it for my 400, but I also have a 1040 ST if my idea fails on the 400.
-
I am thinking about using my Atari 400 as a small and simple BBS server. I would also like to access other servers with it. My current hook up consists of the 400, a 810 drive with DOS 2, and a cassette recorder. What would be the best modem for me to buy for this purpose? What software can I use with 16k RAM? Also, are there any other servers that I can access directly from my Atari. I have pretty much no experience with BBS servers other than playing muds with telnet in Windows... lol How would I set all this up? Im gonna need all the help I can get. In the end I hope to have a nice little server where people can access my Atari and get BASIC programs and other stuff, kind of like a small website. I also want to be able to access any other Atari servers out there including ones that YOU may be running! Im only 15 but I am a huge retro computer fan, mainly Atari. Im sorry if I sound noobish. I just want to keep the magic of REAL computers alive. btw I also just got a Atari 1040 ST. If I cannot set up a server on my 400, maby I can use my ST! Thanks !

I have an Atari 400 with an 810 drive and DOS 2. I also have a Toshiba ND-0801GR drive by itself (no cables or anything). I want to be able to transfer files from a newer computer to my Atari via the floppies. I have computers with Windows Xp, 98, and 95 (among others) to work with. 1st, how can I hook up my Toshiba drive to my newer computer? 2nd, what do I need to do to format the disks and copy files on to the disk for use with my Atari? The reason I want to do this is so I can download games and programs from the internet and use them on my Atari rather than buying them from Ebay. (I need to save for a car! lol) Thanks!

no, I just vowed to never make a game over 4k. If programmers back in the 80s could make AMAZING games with 4k i figure i can at least make a decent one... I guess i could raise it to 8k and add animations music powerups and stuff tho.

well negative feedback is better than none. i would like to add more to this, but i have like 10 bytes left. this game was actually inspired by another game: Ghost Maze

So, I was just wondering if anybody actually tried this. If so, what did you think?
