  1. How is Montezuma's Revenge going? B ur' date='Wed May 27, 2009 5:41 PM' post='1759174'] 194,000 Crushed by the gate of all things.
  2. Neither! Go for the 7800 and you'll have access to the largest game library ever created!! B
  3. True... we were just referring to the advertisement for the SwordQuest series on the first page of this topic and how "hyped up" they were trying to make it seem, like something it ultimately (imho) wasn't.. but you are right, that's not a game thats real popular! B
  4. "catch bombs in a bucket" I love that!! :-) *giggle* I like Kaboom! just for its weird plot, if anything else. But yeah, if we could bomb the bomber that would rock! B I am terrible at the Guitar Hero style games, I also have troubles with other "similar" types of games like the one mission in Grand Theft San Andreas where you have to steal the van from the beach party and have to dance along with the song by tapping and timing the right buttons with the beat. I think my particular dislike of Kaboom is the feeling of "whats the point?" you can't do anything but respond to the mad bombers attack and do nothing to retaliate, at least in most other games you can fight back in some way. If i am playing Adventure and the ducks..err..dragons are grieving me I can grab the sword and give 'em some payback if the giant monkey steals my girl I can chase after them and save her, in Kaboom all i can do is sit there and catch the bombs in a bucket
  5. Hey, try out the 7800 version of Asteroids! I love that version!! The old one I can play until I'm blue in the face but it's just too dang easy and monotonous.. I do like the boring music however, there's something ultra creepy, vacant and space-like about it. B
  6. I think "Adventure" appeals to certain demographics... and also it helps if u grew up and that was the best thing at that time, etc. I didn't have an Atari way back then, I got one when "Pac-Man!" came out, so I just so happen to love playing Pac-Man (brings back good memories!) but yah, its crappy. LOL. B
  7. I agree! I hate Demon Attack. LOL. Phoenix is much better!~ I actually really LOVED the *Texas Instruments* SUPER DEMON ATTACK (same game? I dunno) but it looks and feels the same, but is way more fun!!! (my first computer was a TI994/A from Sears. LOL!) B
  8. hahah! "just throw in an extra radio" i hear ya! i do love the layout of the game so i have to disagree, but i love how you said that! B
  9. Please note... just wanted to clarify.. i meant both SwordQuest games were crap, not the Adventure games! B
  10. Wow! :-) LOL... "maybe you thought the VCS had reached a level of sophistication"... how do they get off comparing this to "Adventure" or "Haunted House"? It's totally not the same! I own both those games and they *are* crap. B
  11. With my old NES games, I would use rubbing alcohol and cotton swab sticks, is this also a good way to clean older Atari games? B
  12. I only really like the original Atari Pac-Man because I can remember... back when I was a kid... 83 (I think)... waiting outside the Skaggs Alpha-Beta grocery store in Hurst, Texas waiting in a long line to buy this game the day it was released... $40 or 50 bucks later...! lol.. got home, all excited, 8 years old... jumpin up and down... i played the hell out of that game, and it still brings me back to that awesome summer of 83 and my love for video games grew out of that experience... the bleeps and sounds of Pac-Man even give me chills (in a good way mostly) lol... *BIK*
  13. Just curious... (and I know opinions will differ) but what is the most OVERrated 2600 game or games (in your opinion)? For instance, you always hear about a certain game or see games on recent Atari compilations, and you wonder... WTF!? My vote is for "Barnstorming"... It puts me to sleep and I just don't get the point! LOL. *BIK*
  14. Tough game! 182,000 I'm givin' up getting a higher score than that... The fact that Robin Hood cant walk up a simple set of stairs! LOL. Surely there were more perils back then like... finding safe drinking water or whatev. LOL! Good luck, guys!
  15. Is 12,000 a good score? lol oh wait, i was on the easy setting *doh!* B
  16. how do i get that to run on my real atari though? This has already been done.
  17. Will it be a real cartridge that we can buy and run on our actual systems? I like ROMS, but Id rather have a cart that I can use on my vintage system
  18. Can someone please work on making one? (A cart that with a game thats an alarm clock) that would be sweet! maybe put the atari logo in the middle with all the rainbowy patterns goin on... i would pay good money for this!!! !Homebrew project, anyone??? iT'S 2009! let's make it already! B Me too. I had a conversation once with another AA'er about this. The conversation was in the context of using microcontrollers and other "co-processors" in 2600 cartridges. I figured a real time clock chip would be an interesting and relatively easy way to familiarize myself with the hardware interface. The conclusion was that it would certainly be possible. He wondered what the point would be. "Just because", was my reason. I was hoping somebody had actually done it.
  19. My faves (so far, and I just started recollecting games about a month ago) but I'm sure my list will change monthly! hehe... Here goes... Cosmic Ark Atlantis Ms. Pac-Man Enduro Galaga 7800 Vanguard Venture Towering Inferno Lock N' Chase Mousetrap *B*
  20. Exactly... that's why we still find so many Atari systems on Ebay, in pawn shops, etc, and over 30 years later!!! Just imagine how many were thrown away though! Makes me sad... One funny story... My parents used to buy my sister and I a new Atari every single year ("From Santa" i mean) because we would break ours just roughhousing around, every year we had a new Atari! It was so fun. lol. Which is why I'm such a huge Atari fanatic now I can remember waiting in line at a local grocery store back in 83 (i think it was) to purchase Pac-Man for Atari 2600 and if i recall it was like $50!! And there was a line wrapped around the grocery store waiting to buy it! lol. just imagine! we still see this kind of thing today, and if it weren't for Atari, we would not have the great gaming markets we have today. Atari made so many mistakes because they were literally the FIRST video gaming company, so other companies have had it easy learning from Atari's mistakes! But i digress... B
  21. Atlantis is great! You should try Cosmic Ark (the sequel)... they are both great games! B
  22. I am very interested! Want to grow my existing 7800 collection, only have the 7800 plus a few 2600 games. Please email me... [email protected] Thanks! B
